What To Expect
Rome has a bounty of things to see and the mix of its architecture is testament to its past; Roman ruins, baroque squares and Renaissance gardens combine to give the city its enticing edge.
See it all on a Rome hop-on hop-off bus tour, and learn about the Italian capital as you go. Show your ticket as you board your Rome tour bus, and then hop on and off at any of the eight stops around town.
See the Colosseum where gory gladiatorial battles once took place, and have your camera ready for Piazza Venezia, home to the Vittorio Emanuele II Monument. Throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain for luck, or stretch your legs on a walk through Vatican City.
The full loops lasts between 1.5 and 2 hours, and audio commentary is provided for each sight you pass. Make use on the free onboard Wi-Fi to share pictures, tweet or blog about your travels as you go.

ROME BUS TOUR (HOP-ON HOP-OFF) | Tour in autobus panoramico
--------------------------------------------------------------
When in Rome, do as the Romans do
---------------------------------------------------------------
FROM MY EXPERIENCES
Only book your Hop-on, hop-off tour if…
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You’re hard pressed for time. You’re only here for the day? Get your tickets and don’t even think about it. You’ll make up for it – and see everything you could not from the bus – next time you come to visit!
The company offers to skip the line tickets for some attractions: if you have to go for the Hop-on, hop-off experience, splurge on it!
You have a walking disability and you need all the help you can get. However, remember that you will still have to walk to certain sites as the buses can’t possibly pull over by them.
MAJOR HOP ON HOP OFF BUS OPERATORS IN ROME
1. City Sightseeing
2. I Love Roma
3. Big Bus
4. GreenLine
5. ROMACRISTIANA
When you finally get to Rome, you will discover that there are dozens of different companies offering hop-on, hop-off tours of the city. We must confess that they look interesting enough: the vantage point provided by the seating on the top floor is great for photography lovers, and the itinerary is convenient.
The reasons why a hop-on, hop-off bus tour is useless in Rome
Local levels of traffic. These buses are huge, the streets of Rome are not. They are in the way all the time, they obstruct the lanes reserved for public buses, the hinder and hamper traffic flow. As a result, your breezy ride through central Rome turns into a hiccupy, intermittent hell that’s close to what millions of drivers experience every day when trying to get to and from work. You’d be faster if you walked to any of the landmarks!
They are expensive. We saw tickets starting at 12 Euros each, with an average of 20 Euros per person, which is simply too much for what the tour offers. For a fraction of the price, you could use public transportation and drive on the same exact route of some of these big buses.
They don’t take you where they should. Hop-on, hop-off buses are designed to let people visit a city at a glance. In a place like Rome, where most monuments and landmarks are off-limits to all vehicles except ambulances and police/firefighters, they can’t possibly leave you at all the sights they show on their route. They will, however, drop you off where they can without breaking the law, and it will be up to you to reach your destination on foot (case in point: Fontana di Trevi, Piazza di Spagna, the Pantheon…). So, essentially, you’ll be under-using the bus you paid (handsomely) for!

Europe 2019 VLOG #11 Rome Hostel + Rome Hop On Hop Off Bus
G'Day everyone. While I was travelling in Rome, I stayed at a great hostel - Free Hostels Rome. It wasn't actually free, but had a great location and really friendly staff. Also I decided to try one of the Hop On Hop Off Bus tours. I recommend them if you have limited time to spend in one place. They take you to the main attractions as well as giving you audio information. Heres the link to the one I used -

Enjoy!

A day Tour in ROME, ITALY - Visiting Vatican City, Fontana de Trevi, Colosseum - Travel vlog
A day Tour in ROME, ITALY - Visiting Vatican City, Fontana de Trevi, Colosseum - Travel vlog
After a great bath in the hot springs of Saturnia, we decided to go straight to Rome. We arrive in Fabulous village ecological resort where we rented a small house with 2 bedrooms. It is really worth it for a 50 euro per night stay. We have our own toilet in each room, a complete kitchen with refrigerator too and a spacious balcony.
The first place we visited the next day is the Vatican City where we had a chance to climb the Dome after paying 8 euro. We also saw the whole Vatican church inside and out. Michaelangelo is one of the artists who worked for the Church.
Our next stop is the Fontana de Trevi. It is one of the most famous fountains in the world and the biggest Baroque-style fountain in the Vatican city.
The last stop is the Colosseum build in the time of the Roman Empire. The Colosseum can hold 50,000 spectators to watch a bloody contest with gladiators and wild animals.
And don't forget the Gelato time too!

A Day Trip from Rome - Castel Gandolfo and The Pope's Summer Residence
Visit by train to the Pope’s summer residence in Castel Gandolfo.
For more info visit our blog:
Check out our Castel Gandolfo Tour!
Check out our Rome Tours:
Located in the beautiful green Castelli Romani hills, the Apostolic Palace is situated at the top of a hill that overlooks the pristine Lake Albano. There are two ways to get to Castel Gandolfo. Either depart from Roma Termina Station or take the Pope's private train that departs directly from Vatican City. If you want to be a Vatican VIP, we offer a day trip from Rome that includes a skip the line Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel tour, access to the Vatican Gardens and a visit to Castel Gandolfo on the Pope's train.
Once you arrive in Castel Gandolfo, it's time to experience the enchanting Barberini Gardens. Built over the ruins of Emperor Domitian’s Villa, the gardens are now open to the public as a gesture of goodwill by Pope Francis. These unbelievable gardens are filled with carefully tended hedges, fountains, flowers and ancient Roman ruins. They are so beautiful you must see it to believe it. After working up an appetite, enjoy a feast fit for the Pope himself in the gardens of exclusive organic cheeses, meats and bruschetta that is locally-sourced from this very land.
After you are properly fueled up on delicious chow, explore the town of Castle Gandolfo and all its amazing views. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, art galleries and bars to enjoy in this tiny town. When you've seen the town, enter the the Pope's summer residence (now Museum) for a self-guided tour of the Apostolic Palace. Included on the tour are rooms that include the Pope's office, bedroom and even costumes that the popes of the past once wore. Check out the collection of cars driven by popes that now stay parked in the courtyard of the villa. When you've finished seeing all the attractions in Castle Gandolfo, simply board a bus that takes you back to the bus back down to the local train station and cruise on home to the San Pietro Train Station in Rome.

FEATURED IN THIS VIDEO:
How to Get into the City:
- From Pisa Airport (Gallilei Gallileo Intl Airport): Take the Pisamover to Pisa Centrale Station, and buy a ticket to Florence (Santa Maria Novella Station)
- From Florence Airport (Peretola)
Cheapest option is the new Tram from T2 to Santa Maria Novella Station in Florence.
Or just hop in a cab)
How to Skip The Lines:
(VERY IMPORTANT TO AVOID SPENDING HOURS IN LINES!)
- The most user friendly website for reserving skip the line reserved ticket times (for the Uffizi Gallery and the Academia Gallery (Michelangelo's David) is:
(But you’ll pay more of a fee…but it is user friendly)
- The official ticketing website for the Uffizi Gallery and The David is B-ticket:
(Less user-friendly, but a cheaper ticket price…and it’s not that hard to figure it out)
- The official site for reserving a climb for the Duomo is here (this will also include entrance into all of the attractions of the Duomo):
- You can also call to book a time at the Uffizi and David by calling this number from a US phone:
011-39-055-294-883
- Or this number from an Italian phone:
055-294-883
You can also sometimes book through your hotel (if you’re staying at a hotel)
Or go with a small group tour like ArtVivia (more expensive, but highly recommended):
Food:
- All’Antico Vinaio
- Gustapizza
- Le Volpi e L’Uva
- Trattoria Mario
- Trattoria Za Za
- Zeb
- Cibrèo Trattoria
- Osteria Santo Spirito

- Trattoria Giovanni
Gelato:
- Venchi
- Vivoli
- Gelateria La Carraia
- Gelateria Artigianale La Strega Nocciola
- Gelateria Santa Trinita
- My Sugar

- Perché No (my favorite)
Neighborhoods/Piazzas/Sites:
- Piazza della Signoria

- Uffizi Gallery (BOOK AHEAD)
- Palazzo Vecchio

- Medici Chapel (also the family tomb for the Medici)
Parks/Nature:
- Boboli Gardens (Beautiful impressive huge park)
- Giardino Bardini (My favorite park in the city)

Views of the City:
- la Rinascente (4th floor…up the green stairs)
- Rooftop bar of the Westin Excelsior
- Watch the Sunset on the St Trinity Bridge
Tuscany:
(I rented a car…I think it cost me around 50 Euros for the day)
- Day Trip/Wine Tour of Tuscany (There are many options for tours…I loved the small group half/day tour with Prestige rent…I found it on Trip Advisor (linked here):
- Siena (if you only visit one town in Tuscany…make it Siena. Also take the bus, not the train)
- San Gimignano (Can be seen on the same day as Siena as they’re close by)
