Dartmouth is a town and civil parish in the English county of Devon. Dartmouth is a tourist destination set on the western bank of the estuary of the River Dart, which is a long narrow tidal ria that runs inland as far as Totnes.
The Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta takes place annually over three days at the end of August. The event sees the traditional regatta boat races along with markets, fun fairs, community games, air displays including the Red Arrows and fireworks. A Royal Navy guard ship is present at the event.
Bayard's Cove has been used in several television productions, including The Onedin Line a popular BBC television drama series that ran from 1971 to 1980. Many of the scenes from the BBC's popular series 'Down to Earth', starring Ricky Tomlinson, were filmed at various locations around the town.
Notable tourist attractions include the Dartmouth Royal Naval College, Dartmouth Castle and the Dartmouth Steam Railway which terminates at Kingswear on the opposite bank of the river.
Boat cruises to nearby places along the coast (such as Torbay and Salcombe) and up the river (to Totnes, Dittisham and the Greenway Estate) are provided by several companies. The paddlesteamer PS Kingswear Castle returned to the town in 2013
Dartmouth is linked to Kingswear, on the other side of the River Dart, by three ferries. The Higher Ferry and the Lower Ferry are both vehicular ferries. The Passenger Ferry, as its name suggests, carries only passengers, principally to connect with the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway at Kingswear railway station. The nearest bridge across the Dart is in Totnes, some 11 miles (18 km) away by road. The A379 road runs through Dartmouth, linking the town to Slapton and Kingsbridge to the southwest and to Torbay to the east across the Higher Ferry.
( Dartmouth - UK ) is well know as a tourist destination because of the variety of places you can enjoy while you are visiting the city of Dartmouth . Through a series of videos we will try to show you recommended places to visit in Dartmouth - UK

Dartmouth Castle
Dartmouth Castle at the entrance to the river Dart. It makes an interesting afternoon. It's a short walk from the town or you can take a ferry there. There is a small cafe outside for afternoon tea.
BANKS OF THE RIVER DART (PART 2) DARTMOUTH CASTLE TO WARFLEET COVE DARMOUTH UK,
The flooded ria that forms the lower reaches of the Dart, with its deep water and steeply sloping valley sides, is a considerable barrier to crossing traffic. There are no bridges below Totnes.
At the mouth of the river, it separates the communities of Dartmouth and Kingswear. There have been proposals to bridge the river here, but these have come to nothing. Instead the two places are linked by, in order going upstream, the Lower Ferry, Passenger Ferry and Higher Ferry. The Lower and Higher ferries both carry vehicles.
Some 2.5 miles (4.0 km) upstream of Dartmouth, the Greenway Ferry carries pedestrians across the river from the village of Dittisham to Greenway Quay
A further 5 miles (8.0 km) upstream is Totnes, where the river is spanned by two road bridges, a railway bridge and a footbridge over. Totnes Bridge is the nearest bridge to the sea and is a road bridge built in 1826-28 by Charles Fowler. Some 1,000 feet (300 m) upstream is Brutus Bridge, constructed in 1982 as part of a road traffic-relief scheme. A further 0.5 miles (0.80 km) upstream, the railway bridge carries the National Rail Exeter to Plymouth line over the river. Immediately upstream of the railway bridge is a footbridge, built in 1993 to provide access to the Totnes (Littlehempston) terminus of the South Devon Railway.
'Dinmore' from Dartmouth: A Ride Behind GWR 'Manor' 4-6-0 7820 on the P&DSR - 02/08/2016
The Dartmouth Steam Railway and River Boat Company (formerly the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway) operate steam train, ferry and paddle steamer excursions from a mainline connection at Paignton to the picturesque seaside town of Kingswear, as well as addition trips to the holiday destinations of Brixham and Totnes. Famous amongst railway enthusiasts for it's breathtaking scenery resulting in fantastic photo opportunities, I instantly took the opportunity to visit whilst i was staying in nearby Newton Abbot. Unfortunately for me, the weather had turned traditionally British: Damp and drizzly with constant overcast clouds looming above. Little prospect of linesiding today!
Nevertheless, i decided to take a ride on the line, which hugs the coast between Goodrington and Churston and the mouth of the River Dart and nearby harbour on the approach to Kingswear. The railway had two guest locomotives visiting for the summer season, both with Great Western secondary route origins. GWR Collett 4575 'Small Prairie' 2-6-2T 5542 from the South Devon Railway was stabled in the sidings at Paignton, whilst other visiting engine, 78xx 4-6-0 7820 'Dinmore Manor' from the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway was out on passenger trains. Also running that day was home-based sister engine 7827 'Lydham Manor': a rare opportunity to see two BR Black liveried 'Manor's working side by side.
This video takes a full trip of the line between Kingswear and Paignton behind 7820, showing the spectacular coastal scenery along the route. The loco performed faultless all day and sounded brilliant attacking the steep gradients over and under the Devon Banks. If only the weather was better, eh?
I hope you all enjoy the video. Apologies for raindrops on the camera lens in some shots and a slight spelling mistake at 8:06. The DSR is a very nice railway and I certainly recommend a visit. Feel free to comment and subscribe!
