Approaching El Capitan Peak in Guadalupe Mountains National Park, West Texas HD 1080p
Watch is video in 1080p!
Still Photographs sometimes don't show the scale and dimension of landscapes so I shot this video approaching El Capitan Peak. El Capitan is located in Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Right behind El Capitan is the tallest mountain in Texas, Guadalupe Peak.
This video was show after a long and difficult 8.4 mile hike up to the top of Guadalupe Peak. It's tough but the view is worth it! You can see the curve of the earth from the top. I completed the hike up to the top in 3 hours.
The Guadalupe Peak Trail is 8.4 miles roundtrip and considered Strenuous. There is also a 11.3 mile round trip trail up to El Capitan which is rated Moderate. The trailhead for both trails (and more) is located at Pine Springs Campground.

DON'T MAKE THIS MISTAKE ???? Texas Hiking At Guadalupe Mountains National Park ????
One last national park for season 6. This time we are in Texas at the Guadalupe Mountains National Park. I knew pretty much nothing about it, in fact we drove right by it last year and didn't even know! But after visiting I would definitely add this to your list of must do hikes.

On Top of Texas at Guadalupe Peak
After the most strenuous hike we have encountered we finally make it to a camp spot and rest our bones. To see that great experience watch our previous video Backpacking to Guadalupe Peak.
In this video we leave our heavy gear at camp and proceed to accomplish the goal we set out to accomplish. We make it to the very top of the highest point in Texas, Guadalupe Peak. We sign the guest book (find us) and meet some wonderful hikers up there. As we soak in the wonders before making our way back to the parking lot, we ponder various aspects of our adventure. What did we forget this time? What are we going to do after this? How much water do we have left? Can we afford to continue our adventure? These are all questions we constantly ask ourselves out there. As a bonus we introduce you to Whites City, NM. 7 miles from Carlsbad Caverns, this quaint little camp spot is the perfect place to pitch a tent in between destinations out there in the desert.
