Queenstown & the Routeburn Track New Zealand
During my New Zealand travels I spent several days in the Queenstown/Glenorchy area from Nov 27th-Nov 29th 2014. Including visiting Queenstown, some photography along the Dart and Reese rivers and a one day along 2/3 of the Routeburn Track from the Routeburn Shelter to the MacKenzie Lake overlook and back (34km).

Queenstown Gardens Disc Golf Course guided tour. March 7th 2013, New Zealand
My build-up to the 18th Annual Queenstown Classic included 3 days practice at the QGDGC, comprising 9 rounds and hundreds of practice throws - required in order to dial-back my arm for this very short course. On Thursday morning, 7th March, I finally was able to create the course tour video I have wanted to do since 1995 when James, Andy and I installed this course. I'm proud it was the first official course in New Zealand, and doubly happy the course gets so much use; at least 15 groups played through while I was filming - about one every 15 minutes!
During the tournament I threw a rather poor 4 under in the morning, but returned with a PB of 12 under (46) in the afternoon, taking second equal in the Masters with good buddy, and Lismore Park course creator, Martin Galley. (Yo, Mart!)
I made my first basket ace on film at 15:30 ! During the Paradise Plates on Sunday, I threw another ace at the Hobbit Hole, and took out the Masters trophy, handily dispatching my nemesis from Saturday; Auckland's most-excellent Nigel Hailstone. (See you at Taupo Nige!)
See my Paradise Plates Doubles video for footage of the stunning Paradise course.
What a fantastic week of Disc Golf: James Smithells, and the local crew put on a tournament to be proud of, and with the 20th Annual Classic coming up, look for something special in the weekend of 11-13th March 2015!
I hope you enjoy the video, and get to play the course one day soon!

-- About this video --
It’s our first day in Queenstown and today we are doing a guided walk of the Routeburn Track with Guided Walks New Zealand!
We are picked up from our Queenstown accommodation at Nomads Hostel and hit the road to the Routeburn Track in the Mt Aspiring National Park and Fiordland National Park, part of a New Zealand UNESCO World Heritage Area.
Once on the Routeburn Track we realise that this walk is going to be a lot different from other walks we have done by ourselves. Our guides are incredible knowledgable teaching us loads about the native forest in New Zealand. We feel like we are no longer walking blind through the forest.
The Routeburn track is a multi-day New Zealand Great Walk, however, we are just doing a day of that walk today to get a taste of this Routeburn Great Walk.
Halfway on the walk we stop for the most scenic lunch of our lives in the midst of the Routeburn Valley before making our way back, seeing loads of New Zealand birds on the way back. The New Zealand wildlife on the Routeburn Track is amazing and our guides tell us exactly what we are seeing.
So what do you think of this Routeburn Track Day Hike? Would you do a guided hike in New Zealand? LUK in the comments below!

Queenstown Nature Walk
Tranquil track alongside Lake Wakatipu outside of Queenstown. The track is good but uneven and winds around the lake shore with the option of a steeper climb to a lookout with magnificent views in all directions. It combines the best of native flora and fauna with picture postcard views. Native birds are readily seen and heard, in and around the edges of the forest.

THINGS TO SEE AND DO IN QUEENSTOWN | Queenstown Travel Guide | New Zealand
Hey guys!
We had a blast in Queenstown during our first-ever trip to New Zealand. Queenstown is a beautiful resort destination in Otago in the south-west of New Zealand's South Island. It perfectly sits on the shores of the South Island’s Lake Wakatipu, with the Remarkables mountain range in the background. Queenstown is known as the 'adventure capital of the world' - the list of adventures you can throw yourself into here is encyclopedic – from bungee jumping to alpine heliskiing to zip-lining to skydiving to jet boating...the list goes on and on and on. This town is a perfect destination for everyone from adrenaline and thrill-seekers to visitors who just want to chill out.
Here are our recommendations of things to see and do in Queenstown:
LAKE WAKATIPU
Lake Wakatipu is Queenstown’s crown jewel. Upon arriving in Queenstown, you will undoubtedly notice the huge lake the town sits adjacent to. The lake is the perfect place to experience what Queenstown has on offer.
SKYLINE GONDOLA + LUGE
A scenic ride on the iconic Skyline Gondola is a must-do Queenstown activity.
You’ll be carried 450 meters above Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu to the top of Bob's Peak, where you’ll enjoy a spectacular 220-degree panorama with breath-taking views of Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Walter and Cecil Peak and, of course, Queenstown. When you get to the top, enjoy the spectacular views of Queenstown.
We purchased Gondola + 5 Luge Rides for $67. It is well worth the money for sure!
BUNGEE JUMPING
Want to conquer the bungy jumping in the land where they all began? Queenstown is the Bungy capital of New Zealand’s adventure industry, it’s ground-zero for commercial bungy jumping anywhere in the world.
The Kawarau Bungy Centre (AJ Hackett Bungy)
If you haven’t been to the Kawarau Bungy Centre, then you haven’t really been to Queenstown. This is the world home of bungy, birthplace of the adventurous spirit that has shaped Queenstown’s character and one of the most famous attractions in Queenstown, New Zealand.
QUEENSTOWN GARDEN
The Queenstown Gardens are just a few minutes walk from central Queenstown and offer a beautiful and tranquil setting away from the hustle and bustle. The gardens are a popular place to take a picnic, relax with friends and family and enjoy the views of Lake Wakatipu. This is perfect for those who prefer a more relaxing activity in Queenstown.
ARROWTOWN
Arrowtown is a charming historic gold mining town in the Otago region of the South Island of New Zealand. Arrowtown is located on the banks of the Arrow River and is just 20 minutes from Queenstown. This quiet and relaxing town is a must-visit if you are traveling to Queenstown.
SHOTOVER JET
Shotover Jet is the world-famous jet boat ride. This ultimate jet boat experience is the only way to access the spectacular Shotover Canyons. Get ready to experience gravity-defying stunts, the speeds of up to 90kmph, and hold on tight for the famous 360˚ spins and more.
We bought the early bird pass for $135 and purchased an additional of $60 for the photos and videos they took for our ride which we included in this video too.
