Kingfish, Cobia and Snappers - Offshore Fishing in Florida - 4K
I went offshore fishing in Cape Canaveral for Kingfish, Cobia and Red Snappers with Capt. Scott Lum and Corey Pagano from Tackle Crafters. We started the day off netting bait in the Port. Once we filled our live wells, we headed offshore and started fishing for kingfish. After catching half a dozen kings, we moved inshore to a shallow wreck to go fishing for red snappers and cobia.

Monster Grouper Spinning Tackle Fishing Challenge:
The Apalachicola Oyster in 2016 | A Long Road to Recovery
It's been a hard four years for the Apalachicola oyster. We look at the recovery of the fishery and the state of Apalachicola Bay.
You can read more at:
FLORIDA PANHANDLE - WikiVidi Documentary
The Florida Panhandle, an informal, unofficial term for the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Florida, is a strip of land roughly 200 miles long and 50 to 100 miles wide , lying between Alabama on the north and the west, Georgia also on the north, and the Gulf of Mexico to the south. Its eastern boundary is arbitrarily defined. The terms West Florida and Northwest Florida are today generally synonymous with the Panhandle, although historically West Florida was the name of a British colony , later a Spanish colony , both of which included modern-day Florida west of the Apalachicola River as well as portions of what are now Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. As is the case with the other eight U.S. states that have panhandles, the geographic meaning of the term is inexact and elastic. References to the Florida Panhandle always include the ten counties west of the Apalachicola River, a natural geographic boundary, which was the historic dividing line between the British colon...

Plein Air Painters To Capture Forgotten Coast on Canvas
More than 20 nationally acclaimed artists will gather on Florida's Forgotten Coast in early May to participate in the 7th annual Florida's Forgotten Coast Plein Air Invitational, America's Great Paint-Out, May 3-13, 2012. Painters will set up their easels and pull out their brushes to document the landscape and culture of this last vestige of authentic Old Florida -- the coastal stretch of scenic North Florida between Mexico Beach and Alligator Point.

Tropical Storm Colin
On May 24, the NHC began monitoring an area of disturbed weather resultant from the interaction of a weakening cold front and an upper-level trough. A surface area of low pressure formed late the next day, eventually gaining sufficient organization to be declared a tropical depression at 21:00 UTC on May 27. Steered west-northwest within an only marginally conducive environment, the depression slowly intensified into Tropical Storm Bonnie a day later. The continued effects of high wind shear and dry air caused the cyclone's appearance to degenerate early on May 29, and Bonnie weakened back to tropical depression strength less than an hour prior to its landfall just east of Charleston, South Carolina. The depression meandered over South Carolina for over a day before regressing to a remnant low over the northeastern portion of the state at 15:00 UTC on May 30. However, Bonnie regenerated into a tropical depression on June 2 amidst more favorable conditions. Late the next day, Bonnie re-strengthened back to a tropical storm due to a burst of convection.Bonnie then weakened to a tropical depression on June 4 and then early on June 5, Bonnie finally dissipated into a remnant low.
As of 1:00 p.m. CDT (18:00 UTC) June 6, Tropical Storm Colin is located within 75 nautical miles of 27.7°N 86.5°W, about 165 miles (265 km) south-southwest of Apalachicola, Florida, or about 245 miles (395 km) west of Tampa, Florida. Maximum sustained winds are 45 knots (50 mph; 85 km/h), with maximum gusts up to 55 knots (65 mph; 100 km/h). The minimum barometric pressure is 1002 mbar (hPa; 29.65 inHg), and the system is moving north-northeast at 15 knots (17 mph; 28 km/h). Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 250 miles (400 km) to the southeast of the center.

Severe Weather April 14 2013
A nasty line of severe storms hit the area. Most of the severe weather hit Eastpoint, Florida but Panama City Beach got 2.88ins of rain and high winds. I was able to get a awesome lightning picture early this morning but failed to get any shots this afternoon. I shot a time lapse and took some great structure shots!

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ More Info About Species caught▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
A flash of gold in the depths is often the angler’s first sight. Dark fins indicate a blackfin tuna, not the similar—and potentially much larger—yellowfin. The species overlap in some waters off Florida.
Over the years, Florida Sportsman has covered the ins and outs of the blackfin tuna fishery around the Florida coastline: Places these fish are historically abundant, such as the famous Humps in the Florida Keys; the shrimp fleet in the Gulf of Mexico; bluewater ledges off Northeast Florida. We’ve researched baits that are productive—from live sardines to ballyhoo, small trolling plugs to streamer flies. We’ve covered the advent of fluorocarbon leader material, its low refractive index apparently conducive to fooling the sharp-eyed blackfins.
There are scattered records of blackfin tuna occurring as far north as Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, but the usual range is from North Carolina to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, including the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico.
The pectoral fins reach to somewhere between the twelfth dorsal spine and the origin of the second dorsal fin but they never extend beyond the second dorsal fin as in the albacore. There is a total of 19-25 (usually 21-23) gill rakers on the first arch (15-19 are on the lower limb), which is fewer than in any other species of Thunnus. The finlets are uniformly dark, without a touch of the bright lemon yellow usually present in those of other tunas. Light bars alternate with light spots on the lower flanks.
This is a pelagic, schooling fish that generally feeds near the surface. Its diet consists of small fishes, squid, crustaceans, and plankton. An excellent light tackle species, it can be taken by trolling or casting small baits or lures, including ballyhoo, mullet and other small fishes as well as strip baits, spoons, feathers, jigs, or plugs; or by live bait fishing from boats at the surface of deep waters one to two miles offshore. It has some local commercial importance, but is predominantly an angler's fish. It is a spunky game species and the flesh is of good quality and flavor
Tropical storm Debby soaks Florida
ST. GEORGE ISLAND, FLA. -- Debby flooded homes, an animal shelter and closed parts of the main interstate highway across northern Florida on as the storm hung stubbornly offshore over the Gulf of Mexico, threatening up to two feet of rain in places.
Debby promised to bring more high winds, relentless rain and likely flooding to the already saturated state. It was forecast to cross Florida and head into the Atlantic on Thursday.
The storm was about 70 miles west of northwest Florida and moving east at 3 mph. Debby was weakening and had maximum sustained winds near 40 mph, barely a tropical storm.
The Florida Highway Patrol closed portions of Interstate 10 when troopers reported several areas of flooding on a roughly 50-mile stretch. Authorities warned motorists to use extreme caution on other parts of the highway.

The Florida Cobia Fishing Challenge - 4K
I brought together all of the best cobia fishermen that I have been out fishing with and we created the Cobia Fishing Challenge. Whoever catches the most cobia and the largest cobia wins the fishing challenge. After catching the cobia, we had the fillet challenge. Whoever could fillet a cobia the cleanest without missing any meat wins. I invited Captain Scott Lum from Outcast Sportfishing Charters, Captain Preston Muller from Gulf Angler Fishing Charters, Captain Carl Toresson from Slob City Charters and Captain Austin Hayne from Finao Sportfishing.

Divers Fight the Invasive Lionfish | National Geographic
The lionfish is invading Florida's coastal waters, harming native wildlife and habitat. This non-native species has venomous spines, lacks natural predators, and is able to reproduce quickly, which allows it to dominate other fish species that compete for resources. Divers are helping researchers catch the fish to learn more about its biology and develop ways to control the population.
