Skagway-Haines-Juneau, AK - Fast Ferry
Today while in Skagway we signed up for a Fast Ferry trip to the capital of Alaska, Juneau! The ferry was a very fast catamaran, and stopped in Haines to pick up a few more passengers.
It took only about 2 hours to get to Juneau, and the weather was perfect and sunny! Along the way, the captain was able to slow down and show us Sea Lions, Seals, Wales, Bald Eagles, Waterfalls and some of the most breathtaking scenery you could ever imagine!
In Juneau, we walked up and down Main Street, had lunch at the Twisted Fish restaurant, and then walked along the waterfront watching boats sailing and pontoon planes taking off!

About Episode 123: Waking up at the border was as awkward as you might think, but that is one of the best things about RVing! Need to sleep? Pullover. We visited Haines for two reasons. We heard the bears and eagles were abundant, even more than most of Alaska and it gave us an opportunity to take the Marine Highway and ferry to Skagway Alaska. Considering all the miles we drove, we knew we were not up for an “out and back” and the ferry makes Tok to Haines to Skagway a more direct shot to the Cassiar Highway. Here’s a quick tip on the Marine Highway. Anything over 30’ you need to call. So don’t even waste your time trying to figure out their unacquainted website. All the staff from the phones to the crew are very helpful and polite.

Haines Skagway Loop
Roadtrip:
Starting off in Whitehorse, Yukon we drove through Haines Junction, Yukon, along the Haines Pass to Haines, Alaska. We camped at the Chilkoot State Park for night number one. The following day we rode through Haines on the bikes before hopping on the ferry to Skagway, Alaska. After setting up camp we rode around town a bit before enjoying dinner at the Skagway Brewing Co. After another nice night in the tent we explored Skagway some more before our White Pass Summit Excursion. Driving back to Whitehorse, we stopped briefly at the Carcross Desert for a walk around in the sand.
Filmed and edited on an iPhone SE.
