Hakone Open Air Museum [Japan Trip]
This is a photo/video collage we put together. Unfortunately the Picasso exhibition was closed.
This is a part to our upcoming video (Japan Trip). We will put other small parts of it too and maybe split it in half. But this video has recordings and photos from when we went to the open air museum in Hakone, Japan. Sorry for having my finger coming in from the side at a recording.

Owakudani (Hakone, Japan) Visit
Owakudani is a station along the Hakone Ropeway between Sounzan and Togendai. Sounzan is accessible from Hakone-Yumoto by Hakone Tozan Railway and cablecar with a transfer at Gora Station. Togendai is on the shores of Lake Ashinoko and is connected by boat with Moto-Hakone and Hakone-machi.
Scenes of Japan: Hakone
Scenes taken of in October 2017 of day trip in Hakone area. Starts at Koen-Kami near Gora, up the Hakone Tozan Cablecar (train pulled by cable) to Sounzan. Then onto the Hakone Ropeway (“bubble” cablecar) to Owakudani. Continuing on the Hakone Ropeway to Togendai (with view of Mount Fuji on the way). From there a boat trip across Lake Ashi to Hakone Machi. Finally, through the Hakone Checkpoint and Cedar Avenue.

CAN YOU SEE HAKONE IN LESS THAN 6 HOURS?
Hakone is a gateway destination for those seeking a relaxing getaway from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo whilst also serving great views of Mt Fuji and the Izu Peninsula for our overseas visitors.
I was actually looking forward to seeing the Autumn Leaves here after seeing many photos of it when the day finally arrived, it rained.
Out of all the days that, mother nature decided to rain on this two day trip I had planned.
I tried to salvage as much footage as I can and with the help of my new found friends that I met from Emblem Flow Hakone, we ventured off into this place in a race against time to see what we could cover in the 6 hours that we have before we departed into other areas of Japan.
This is our small recap.

Here's an epic video with photo montages of our trip to Japan. We stopped at a lot of cities and towns, including: Hakone, Ashi Lake, Kyoto, Koyasan, Oita, Nagasaki, Unzen (Azumaen Hotel), and finally Tokyo (Shinagawa mostly).
I made a special effort to get video and images of all the great food we ate. The Buddhist temples were the most interesting and unique dining experiences. But I also really enjoyed the Chinese cuisine in Japan. It's much different than in America. Chinese food in Japan is several courses and served with excellent care and service.
What I'll miss the most about Japan is the politeness. The service in all towns and prefectures was outstanding. Too bad tipping is not part of Japanese custom. And too bad tipping IS part of American custom. Based on the two countries' track records, the tipping should be reverse.

Matsunaga Kinenkan (松永記念館)
Matsunaga Yasuzaemon (松永安左ヱ門), 1875-1971, was an important Japanese industrialist, art collector and tea ceremony master. He led power companies such as the Kyushu Electric Railway and the Chubu Electric Power Company. At the age of sixty, after his businesses were nationalized, he retired and took the Tea name Jian (耳庵), follow your ear after sixty, from the Analects of Confucius.
In 1946, he moved to the Odawara area and built a house called Rōkyosō (老欅荘) “Old Zelkova Villa ”, on a wooded hillside in Odawara Itabashi (小田原板橋). The house included a tea room, “Shōkatei” (松下亭), where he hosted tea ceremonies for many other famous connoisseurs. In 1959, he built an Art Gallery, to display his collection of important antiques. In 1979, the buildings and garden were donated to the city of Odawara, and from 1980 onwards, the Matsunaga Memorial Hall (松永記念館)
has been used as part of the Odawara Cultural Museum for special exhibitions. (In 1980, Matsunaga’s antiques were moved to the Fukuoka Art Museum).
In 1986, two tea houses (Yōuan, 葉雨庵, from Minami-machi, and Uyaku-tei, 烏薬亭, from Odawara), were repaired and moved to the south corner of the garden. On the second floor of the main Memorial Hall, visitors can enjoy a short tea ceremony thanks to the Odawara Tea Ceremony Federation. Additionally, Rōkyosō, 老欅荘, Matsunaga’s home in Odawara Itabashi, was restored in 2000 and opened to the public in 2001.
Surrounding the Matsunaga Memorial Hall, the garden landscape is expertly maintained, and in 2007 the garden was included in a list of 100 Best Japanese History Parks (日本の歴史公園100選). A large pond is home to water lilies, yellow iris and Japanese carp koi (錦鯉). Below Matsunaga’s house, an old, towering zelkova tree survives as a reminder of the Rōkyosō (老欅荘) “Old Zelkova Villa ” name. Next to the main Memorial hall, a large red rhododendron that an eighty-year-old Matsunaga brought back from the UK still blooms in late April — mid-May. Elsewhere in the garden, large Lindera strychnifolia shrubs were apparently planted by Matsunaga himself. This is the origin of the tea house annex name: Uyaku-tei (烏薬亭). (In Chinese medicine, the dried root of this tree is called crow medicine, and has been prized as a miracle longevity cure. Interestingly, Matsunaga Jian lived to 96 years of age!).
DIRECTIONS: From the Odawara Railway Station, the Hakone Itabashi Station (箱根板橋駅) is the first stop on the Odakyu Line towards Hakone Yumoto. From the Hakone Itabashi Station exit, a road directly across leads to the main street of Itabashi after about 200 m. Turn left here and walk for another 330m., passing shops on the left such as the Bonjour Bakery, and the famous hand-prepared Shimoda Tofu Shop (下田豆腐店). Further up the main street on the right-hand side, a large dark building is the former home and factory of the Uchino Soy Sauce enterprise (内野家と醤油工場). Next, on the right is a vertical sign pointing towards the Matsunaga Memorial Hall (松永記念館入り口), and a short walk of about 180 m. along this minor road leads to the entrance on the left, just after a dense boundary hedge (free admission).

Old Yokohama Photos, Back to 1800's
Until the end of the Edo era, Yokohama was only a small fishing village, and Kanagawa (the town, not the prefecture) along the Tokaido (the main road connecting Edo and Kyoto that ran through Yokohama and the rest of Kanagawa Prefecture, and which had inns along it) was a more important place. After the Japan-U.S. Peace Treaty was signed in 1854, the Japanese government designated Yokohama village as a trading base and expanded the land with landfill. In 1859 Yokohama officially opened her port to the rest of the world and became the business center in Japan.

Solo Travel Series - Japan (Chubu Region)
One of my solo travels to Japan during winter. Visited several places in the Chubu region such as Matsumoto, Takayama, Shirakawago, Nagano as well as Kanazawa and Tokyo. Enjoy!
(ENG SUB) A Review of Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum near Mt. Fuji
I hope you liked my review of Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum near Tokyo, Japan. I embedded our choice of transportation from Shinjuku Station to Kawaguchiko and the bus pass we used there. I liked this museum a lot because of it's many activities and the picturesque Fujisan view.
If you'd like to go by bus like me, you might have to book the ticket at least 1 day in advance either by the highway bus website (highway-buses.jp) or at the bus terminal near Shinjuku Station. If you choose to go by train, please see hyperdia.com
LET'S EXPLORE SHIGA ♦ Art - Crazy Sagichou Festival - Festival Food
FUN GAME: can you count how many times I say the word 'like' when I talk about the museum's architecture?
Hi guys!
We went on a bus tour to Shiga and had a great time. It was our first time on one of these tours and I must say, it's really chill. Everything is perfectly mapped out for you, you don't have to do anything yourself. Then again, where's the adventure in that ay?
We'll be going on another little trip soon though, one of our own and we're really excited!

Japan must see places. Discover Takayama in Gifu Prefecture. Things to do in Sanmachi Old Town.
We did a walking tour of Takayama Old Street, traditional Japan. This place is under rated and a photographers paradise. The buildings are extremely well preserved, dates back to the Edo period. Houses are in good and clean condition. There's sake breweries, miso manufacturers here. Takayama Jinya, alongside historic houses of merchant families, two morning markets can be found in this quaint town. one
