Ha Long Bay is a World Heritage Site and one of the Seven natural Wonders of the world. Located in Northeast Vietnam. This is an area of extraordinary natural beauty, that’s why it has twice been recognised by UNESCO as a world Natural Heritage Area. The region is popular for kayaking, scuba diving, rock climbing and hiking. Beside of these activities people can find many mesmerising Beaches and Caves to spend a wonderful time there.

Kayaking along scenic Ha Long Bay, Vietnam Travel Video | Adventure travel & sports in Vietnam
This is our latest travel video where we paddle along scenic Ha Long Bay, Vietnam in our kayaks, as part of our adventure sports activities of our tour. Although we typically don't engage in water sports, we decided to jump at the opportunity to go kayaking together for the first time. In 2008, I did another Ha Long Bay tour as a solo backpacker and kayaking was part of the activities. We went as far as an island named after monkeys; if I recall correctly it was literally called 'Monkey Island.' The tour was largely unsupervised and it turned rather dangerous when one of the other kayaking teams smashed into our kayak cutting my rowing partner in the arm. I was glad to see the 2013 version of our kayak tour was a lot more responsible and safe than the former.

Even though we had our initial reservations, this was honestly the highlight of our entire Ha Long Bay tour.
Although we're both very inexperienced in terms of our kayaking skills, we enjoyed giving it our best shot. We had no problem keeping up with the rest of the kayaking team as we paddled around an area surrounded by gorgeous Karst limestone cliffs.
With breathtaking scenery at every angle we easily got distracted at times not even noticing boats quickly approaching our floating space.
At one point we noticed a certain section of a Karst having a small temple carved out of the bottom section which was rather fascinating.
All in all, the tour lasted for roughly an hour.
This activity was part of our tour and we didn't have to pay any additional costs for our hour long adventure.
We recommend a two day tour so that you'll have the opportunity to try this as well; it's certainly not something to be missed:
Ha Long Bay (Vietnamese: Vịnh Hạ Long, listen, literally: descending dragon bay) is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a popular travel destination, located in Quang Ninh province, Vietnam. Administratively, the bay belongs to Hạ Long City, Cẩm Phả town, and part of Van Don district. The bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various sizes and shapes. Ha Long Bay is a center of a larger zone which includes Bái Tử Long bay to the northeast, and Cát Bà islands to the southwest. These larger zones share similar geological, geographical, geomorphological, climate, and cultural characters.
In October 2011, World Monuments Fund included the bay on the 2012 World Monuments Watch, citing tourism pressures and associated development as threats to the site that must be addressed. The goal of Watch-listing is to promote strategies of responsible heritage-driven development for a sustainable future.
In 2009, the New 7 Wonders Foundation, which runs the New Seven Wonders of the World program, included Halong Bay on its list of nominations as one the World's New7Wonders of Nature. In 2012, the New 7 Wonders Foundation officially named Halong Bay as one of new seven natural wonders of the world.
Hạ Long Bay is also a member of the Club of the Most Beautiful Bays of the World:
Kayaking is the use of a Kayak for moving across water. Kayaking and canoeing are also known as paddling.

Family kayaking trip near Cat Ba Island in Ha Long Bay in Vietnam.
????
Halong Bay is one of the amazing and wonderful destinations in Vietnam with a lot of amazing landscapes for traveling. Besides that, Halong is also famous for interesting and attracting kayaking which is one of the must-try activity in Halong.
????
Kayaking is an exciting activity that you can not miss when visiting Halong Bay. Sitting on a tiny kayak, paddling in the blue water, wriggling into the cave, or touching the stalactites, .. what's more amazing!
????
The most exciting and fascinating thing when cruise parked next to the fishing village, visitors join freely kayaking or swimming between the blue water. Wondrous beauty of nature through unique and fun images of thousands of limestone islands, colorful caves with stalactites in Halong Bay has enchanted many visitors. To feel all the grandeur of Halong nature and discover cliffs below the waves rolling up thousands of years, or watch birds on the cliffs or touch thousands of years old stalactites, the best way is kayaking.
????
Taking a kayak paddle closely the foot of rocks to discover new emotions is one of the favorite activities of visitors when going to Halong Bay. While the kayak is going through the unnamed island's visitors will get the opportunity to admire the beauty of coral reefs, the tiny fishes swimming and dancing around, and many other interesting sceneries.
????
There are many types of kayaks such as kayaks made from composite plastic, molded rubber or inflatable kayaks with oars. Luon Cave, Ba Trai Dao, Ba Ham, Dau, Hang Co ... is the appropriate places for kayaking.
????
One of the best things to do in Halong Bay is discovering the place yourself on your own kayak. The emerald water of Halong with calm water and many hidden tunnels make a perfect setting for kayaking.
????
The majority of mid-range and budget cruises offer kayaking free of charge while most luxury cruise will charge kayaking for a fee. Tour guide and staff on board will gladly introduce you to mastering your kayak in case you are not familiar with the activity. This has been the highlight for the majority of tourists who took a cruise trip to Halong Bay and will surely a time to remember for you too.
????
Kayaking will make your Halong Bay trip more interesting, when you get closer to the caves and limestone. Kayaking is generally assumed to be very safe in these calm waters of Halong Bay but there is still some areas and warning that you should avoid and listen to the tour guide.

The core of the bay has an area of 334 km2 (129 sq mi) with a high density of 775 islets. The limestone in this bay has gone through 500 million years of formation in different conditions and environments. The evolution of the karst in this bay has taken 20 million years under the impact of the tropical wet climate. The geo-diversity of the environment in the area has created biodiversity, including a tropical evergreen biosystem, oceanic and sea shore biosystem. Ha Long Bay is home to 14 endemic floral species and 60 endemic faunal species.
????
Historical research surveys have shown the presence of prehistoric human beings in this area tens of thousands years ago. The successive ancient cultures are the Soi Nhu culture around 18,000–7000 BC, the Cai Beo culture 7000–5000 BC and the Ha Long culture 5,000–3,500 years ago.

Halong Bay Cruise Vietnam January 2017
We really enjoyed a 2 day cruise around the stunning Halong Bay in Vietnam. The cruise included kayaking, cave tour and a visit to a high viewing vantage point. We used Vega Travels boat which catered really well for 16 guests. Both the guide and on board food were fantastic. The World Heritage Site of Halong Bay should be on everyones list of must do things when visiting Vietnam.

Some 1,600 islands, thick with greenery, form a maze of channels in the azure waters off northeastern Vietnam. Although people have lived in the region of Ha Long Bay for thousands of years, most of the islands remain uninhabited. But these coves and natural towers are rich with wildlife. For centuries, this spectacular seascape has inspired wonder.
The name Ha Long, Vietnamese for “descending dragon,” is reflected in a legend: Once, when the Viet people faced invasion, a dragon flew down from heaven to their defense. The creature sprayed not only fire, but also jewels that became the green archipelago.
The scientific explanation for the rock formations, known as karst, is also amazing. For millions of years, seashells and sediments fell to an ancient seafloor, forming solid rock. Tectonic activity raised the resulting limestone above water. Rainfall and rivers dissolved exposed rock, and carved valleys that flooded after the last ice age, creating this rare example of a karst field at sea.
Features include lakes and caves through the islands, and notches and tunnels where seawater has worn at the pillars' foundations. The fantastic landscape also continues into two adjacent national parks, on Cat Ba Island and Bai Tu Long Bay.
You can go kayaking, caving, or even take a ride in a seaplane to experience the grandeur of these enchanting tropical islands.

EPIC CHEAP HALONG BAY CRUISE TOUR (Lan Ha Bay - Catba) - Vietnam Travel Guide
My other travel guide & vlog:

HANOI NIGHT LIFE - Travelers Need to Know This:
ARRIVING IN VIETNAM! Noi Bai Airport to Hanoi Travel Guide --
WHY BOROBUDUR IS SO EXPENSIVE - Vlog Using Redmi Note 5 Camera --
I bought this tour in Le Pont Bungalow Hostel, you can easily find these kind of tour and other type of tour sold in the place you're staying or in many tour agents in Catba Town. I stayed in Catba for 3 nights. Stayed in Le Pont Bungalow Hostel for the first day, and then move to Catba Central Backpackers Hostel because I wanted to try different places.
Maybe it's something to consider: This tour started at 8:30 am and ended at about 4 pm, so it was closer to 6 hours and even a bit more instead of 4 hour which is what people usually seem to experienced if they started a full day Halong Bay tour from Hanoi and back in the same day.
I guess that's the advantage if you just go to Catba or Halong and do the tour while staying there for 2 nights (with the bus schedule I'm not sure if you can stay there just for 1 night, at least in Catba, I couldn't find any night bus going to and from Catba. Not sure about Halong)

DON'T GO to Halong Bay ???????? GO TO LAN HA BAY ????️
Why You Should Go To Lan Ha Bay NOT Halong Bay
In today's Vietnam travel vlog, I discuss why a prefer Lan Ha Bay over Ha Long Bay (Halong Bay). Most people have heard of Ha Long Bay but there is a better, lesser-known neighbor - Lan Ha Bay!
Ha Long Bay is a Unesco World Heritage site. When most people visit the Halong Bay area, they usually go on a 2 day, 1-night cruise. I don’t really think that’s enough time to truly appreciate this place & the tour boat companies pack so much into those 48 hours that you barely get to stop and really enjoy how beautiful the place is. So, I’d recommend spending a few more days in the Ha Long Bay area. I traveled with 6 of my friends and we decided to stay 5 days and even that didn’t seem like enough time to explore the area.
Like most, we made our way to the Ha Long area from Hanoi. For about $15 roundtrip, we took a luxury van to Ha Long City. But instead of jumping on a cruise boat and going directly to Ha Long Bay, we decided to spend a couple days on Tuan Chau Island. Tuan Chau Island is just off the coast of Ha Long City. There is a bridge from Ha Long City to Tuan Chau - so it’s just a short cab ride to get there from Halong City. We stayed at an inexpensive resort called La Paz Resort. It was $80 a night per room and we stayed two to a room. So it only cost $40 a night for each individual. We actually got pretty lucky. A huge storm rolled into Ha Long Bay and everyone's Halong Bay cruise was canceled for 2 days. Luckily for us, our Ha Long Bay cruise (Lan Ha Bay cruise) wasn’t for a few days and the resort had a great pool that we had a little fun in! The resort was also right on the beach and you could see the islands of Ha Long off in a distance even though it was pretty cloudy most of the time.
After relaxing a couple of days on Tuan Chau Island, we headed to Lan Ha Bay.
We took a water taxi to Cat Ba Island and then jumped on our boat in Lan Ha Bay. Like I mentioned before, I went with 7 of my buddies and 3 of us shared one cabin. There are many different options for cruise ships from big Halong Bay luxury cruise ships to smaller, more rustic Ha Long Bay cruise boats like the one we stayed on. I personally prefer the smaller boat, there were no more than 15 of us on the boat - so it felt less like a group tour type of thing.
Ok — so why Lan Ha Bay over the more famous Ha Long Bay? Ha Long Bay is beautiful, no doubt but it’s saturated with tourist. And that’s just not what I like. You can get the exact same scenery and beauty with far fewer tourist by going a few kilometers to the southwest to Lan Ha Bay.
Lan Ha Bay is located south of Ha Long Bay, just off the coast of Cat Ba Island. Ha Long Bay covers an area of a little over 1500 square kilometers and has around 1900 small islands. Lan Ha Bay is only 76 square kilometers and has around 400 small islands. While Lan Ha Bay is much smaller but there are more islands per square kilometer. Lan Ha Bay also feels bigger because there are far fewer boats than Ha Long Bay. There were many times I felt like we were the only boat in the entire bay. We were able to explore secluded beaches and coves with just my group and some local fisherman were hanging out.
If you're trying to figure out what to do in Vietnam, I hope this Vietnam travel vlog was helpful. My only regret was not getting more Halong Bay drone shots!
If you’ve been to Ha Long area — please comment below what you’re a favorite activity to do was. If you enjoyed this video - please hit the like button - it helps more people find the video. And if you enjoy this kind of travel video - please consider subscribing. I put out a video weekly documenting my travel adventures.

Halong Bay Cruises | Kayaking | Vietnam | My Y Ho
Halong Bay is a beautiful natural wonder in northern Vietnam near the Chinese border. The Bay is dotted with 1,600 limestone islands and islets and covers an area of over 1,500 sqkm. This extraordinary area was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. For many tourists, this place is like something right out of a movie. In 2017 Hollywood's Kong Skull Island movie was shot here. The fact is that Halong Bay features a wide range of biodiversity, while the surrealistic scenery has indeed featured in endless movies.
