Hammocks Beach State Park is a North Carolina state park in Onslow County, North Carolina in the United States. Located near Swansboro, along the Southern Outer Banks, or Crystal Coast, the state park covers 1,520 acres and consists mainly of Bear Island. The park also owns three smaller islands, Dudley, Huggins and Jones, located in the nearby mouth of the White Oak River. After a recently completed deal, 319 acres acres on the mainland were added to the park.

Hammocks Beach State Park - October 08 - 09, 2010

My wife and I paddled out to Bear Island at Hammocks Beach State Park near Swansboro, NC and camped on the island during the first week of October, 2010.

Weekend on North Carolina's Crystal Coast

The family and I spent a weekend in mid April of 2010 on North Carolina's Crystal Coast. The kids and I did a 7 mile day hike in the Croatan National Forest along the Neusiok Trail and the next day we paddled our canoe from Hammocks Beach State Park to Bear Island, 2 1/2 miles out.
