Hank Williams Boyhood Home
Hank Boyhood Home in Georgiana, Alabama
Hiram King (Hank) Williams (September 17, 1923--January 1, 1953) was an American country music performer. Though unable to read or write music to any significant degree, he came to be regarded as among the greatest country music stars of all time. The Museum in Georgiana does a fantastic job collecting and preserving memorabilia of Hank.

Georgiana Alabama - A Drive in Town
Georgiana Alabama - A Drive in Town
Georgiana, a town of 1,737 according to the 2000 census, lies to the east of a section of Interstate 65 known as the Lost Highway in honor of country singer, Hank Williams, Sr.
If you like gospel music, as I do, you might want to check out Georgiana. The town is famous for its fantastic gospel music events. I was reminded of this when I saw a sign on the side of the theatre.
Hank Williams, Sr's childhood home is now a museum in Georgiana.

Georgiana, Alabama - My Hometown
Although I was born in Greenville, county seat of Butler County, Alabama, my family roots run deep in a little forgotten community called Starlington. It is located near Georgiana. My grandmother lived in Georgiana and that is where I remember visiting family as a young child. The trip from Texas seemed to take forever. Today, it doesn't seem near as far away.

Well Hank williams called Montgomery his home town. He moved here in 1937 when he was thirteen years old and started selling peanuts and shinning shoes out in front of where the museum is located and also one block over on Montgomery street. He was a teenager on the streets at this time, he won his first talent show at the Empire theatre, he won fifteen dollars first prize and I believe that's were one of the historical markers will be placed for the Hank Williams trail.

We are installing a number of historic markers through out the state that will take place over the next couple of months. But we hope that the brochure (Hank William trail guide) gets people to these locations and that they learn more about the story about what took place at that particular area when they are visiting whether it's the museum in Georgia or the museum here in Montgomery. But its an incredible story that people all over the world would find fascinating.
