JOURNEY TO THE GOBI | Gobi Desert, Mongolia
We have officially left Ulaanbaatar and headed into the Gobi.
It didn't take long to see all the animals that you'd expect to see in Mongolia - horses, camels, cows, sheep. We even saw a Golden Eagle from the car. We stopped by Choir Monastery, Baga Gadriin Chuluu, and hiking some of the little mountains surrounding our ger camp. We also went to Yolyn Am in the Gurvan Saikhan Mountains which was one of the most beautiful places I've seen.
For those interested, this video would be day 3-5 on the Nomadic Mongolia tour with G Adventures.
Much love and happy travels

Moments: Discovering the Gobi desert in Mongolia
We drove our motorcycle from Ulaanbaatar all the way south to discover the immense Gobi desert. It's a distance of around 700 kilometres made more difficult because of the last 100 kilometres, through dirt roads, with some gravel and sand.
The Khongoryn Els are the big sand dunes in the Gobi desert, though sand dunes only cover 5% of the whole desert. The biggest part of it is steppe, with a few mountains and some grassland. These are the lands of nomadic herders who live in this inhospitable region with their families. They live in gers and are always happy to welcome guests into their homes.
Here, the most common animal is the camel, the goat – such as the famous cashmere goat - and the Mongolian horse, one of the oldest breeds of horses that outnumber the country's human population.
But arriving at the Gobi is not easy. There is a lot of off-road, with some gravel and some sand and a lot of washboard. Sometimes also storms and even sandstorms. Although it was exhausting, the beautiful Gobi desert is… all worth it!
Thank You Mongolia ♥︎

Setup:
Our first night spent in a ger was officially in the books! That morning the camp was full of activity as the family was preparing for their son’s wedding. A Mongolian country-side wedding can last anywhere from 3-10 days with the grooms parent’s building the couple a new ger and the bride’s parents providing the furniture. It was so interesting to see all this unfold and as much fun as it would been to attend a 10 day long Mongolian party, we had to hit the road
Buddhist Monastery:
While en route to meet up with our new guide, we made a quick stop off at a buddhist monastery out in the middle of nowhere. we wandered around the place checking out various religious artifacts, including a large stockpile of hundred year old Tibetan sutras until we were befriended by a young monk who was more than eager to tell us more about his faith
Buddhism has been around in Mongolia since the 16th century when the Mongolian ruler Altan Kahn was converted by Tibetan lamas. Today, many religions are practiced throughout the country, but over half the population still identifies themselves as Buddhists. At it’s core, buddhism is the understanding that suffering and dissatisfaction originate in the way your mind responds to life’s circumstances. Buddhism provides it’s followers with a set of systematic techniques to have self-control over your own negative thoughts and desires. Happiness, Buddha once said, is actually quite simple: The secret is to want what you have and not want what you don't have. A good reminder, no matter what you do… or don’t believe
After Lunch:
After lunch, we took off into the gobi desert bound for our big destination of the day, a place called white stupa. Admittedly, we had know idea what that was or what to expect, but we were making great time… until we discovered that the Mongolian wilderness hates it when you’re making great time.
WHITE STUPA / Tsagaan Suvarga
White stupa is a massive 400 meter long cliff that was formed around 10 million years ago when it was covered by a sea. Over the millennia the sea dried up and the erosion eventually created distinctive looking structures known as escarpments. The erosion also exposed the different ores in the soil that when met with oxygen create the brilliant colors of white, yellow and purple. The top of the 40 meter high cliff is mostly covered with loose rocks so it made walking around near the edge a little freaky. Ancient hunters used this fact to their advantage by driving herds of gazelles over the edge for a sure kill. We could’ve easily spent all day there walking around in awe, but the sun was beginning to set and we still had to make it to our camp for the night. We were excited to meet a new nomadic family and experience the infamous Mongolian hospitality.

A Journey Through Mongolia (Full Length Documentary)
Mongolia! A Journey through Mongolia is a travel documentary from our one month trip through the great expanses of the Mongolian plains.
We started the trip with a few days in Ulaanbaatar to experience the sprawling metropolis. We also had a chance to go to Hustai National Park not far from UB to see the last remaining wild horse, the Takhi. Then we went on a ten day adventure to go live with the Tsaatan Reindeer Herder tribe in the very north on the border of Siberia. This was an incredible experience and it was very demanding with multiple days on horseback after a long strenuous multi-day 4WD trip. After a short recovery we went to the eastern part of the country to the Bayan-Ölgii Province to attend the Golden Eagle Festival. This festival has really been the focus of the Mongolian travel in recent time, very much because of Aishol-pan the Eagle Huntress. We had a chance to meet this incredible girl who is certainly an inspiration to women across the world. After the festival we went and lived with an eagle hunter family deep in the Altai Mountain Range.
We hope you will enjoy this full length travel documentary and please subscribe to our channel for more adventures around the world. If you have any questions or comments please leave them here and we will be happy to answer if we can.

SAND, CAMELS, and FLAMING CLIFFS | Gobi Desert, Mongolia
Continuing our journey into the Gobi Desert, we finally made it to the more sandy area. And there was a LOT of sand. We visited Khongoriin Els - the biggest sand dunes in the area. They were way taller and steeper than I expected. We also went on a little camel riding after the climb.
The last day in the Gobi was spent near Bayanzag also known as the Flaming Cliffs. The clay they are made of becomes bright red during sunset which was really beautiful. The area is particularly famous because it's the location of the first dinosaur egg fossils ever to be discovered. We didn't find any bones (digging isn't allow) but there were some clumps of clay that looked like they could've been bones. ????
We visited the ruins of Ongi Monastery and relaxed at the super fancy ger camp. That ends our time in the Gobi - but not Mongolia.
This would be days 5, 6, and 7 on the GAdventures Nomadic Mongolia tour.
Much love and happy travels

Off-roading and Camel Riding in the Gobi Desert Mongolia
#Mongolia #Gobidesert #travelvlog
We were lucky enough to spend 4 days in the Gobi desert, staying in traditional Ger's, and exploring its beauty. This was a trip of a lifetime!!!
Mongolia in December was a chilly place, the warmest days hitting -16 degrees celsius, and getting as low as -27 degrees celsius. This added to the beauty of this place on earth, and gave us prime real estate at all the hot spots, we were the only tourists out here at this time and that was something special.
We paid for a guide to take us out and show us the way, and after doing it, it was totally necessary. Mongolia does not have huge amounts of infrastructure, especially in terms of roads, and without our driver we would not have seen any of the magic of the Gobi desert.
Hope you enjoyed the video and it inspires you to do your own Gobi Adventure.
If you have any questions about the places we visit, more then happy to help, so get in touch.

I pray that you will always be happy.
