Cheap LULA! National Wheel-O-Vator Elevator-Plaza Arts Building-Healdsburg, CA
Alright, now what is this thing lmaoooooo. We got an action-packed LULA elevator here! I was not expecting this building to even have an elevator, and I was definitely not expecting there to be a LULA in here. It looks like a regular elevator until you get inside. The chimes are funny. The door on the first floor looks so ugly. I wonder if one of the doors broke which is why one of them is gray. This is my first National Wheel-O-Vator. What an interesting find! Ahhh, Another One! Dover Impulse Hydraulic Elevator-375 Healdsburg Ave-Healdsburg, CA
It doesn't matter which city or which state you go to in the United States. There will always be a Dover Impulse. This one is pretty basic, but it's nice. The building owner seems to maintain this elevator very well. Nice Dover, although I'd prefer something more unique. But hey, an elevator's an elevator.

???? Southern California blaze sears structures, threatens orchards and oil fields
A fast-moving scrub fire threatened orchards, oil fields and homes while displacing thousands of residents in Southern California on Friday, even as diminishing winds helped fire crews tame a rash of wildfires elsewhere across the state.
The latest in a spate of conflagrations that have kept California firefighters on the go for weeks roared to life on Thursday evening near the hilly farm community of Santa Paula, about 70 miles (112.65 km) northwest of Los Angeles.
As the Maria fire raced across nearly 9,000 acres (3,642 hectares) of dry brush and chaparral, firefighters scrambled to protect tens of millions of dollars worth of citrus and avocado crops in harm’s way, as well as nearby oil industry infrastructure.
The blaze also threatened high-voltage power lines in the vicinity, along with radio and communications towers at the top of a large hill called South Mountain, where the flames originated, Ventura County fire officials said.
“There is still cause for caution and concern. We are not out of the woods yet,” county fire chief Mark Lorenzen told an evening news conference. “We still have 24 hours of critical fire weather ahead of us.”
He said an estimated 1,300 firefighters, many from elsewhere in California and the Western United States, were assigned to the blaze.
By sunset, the fire was threatening some 2,700 homes and other structures, with roughly 10,800 people under evacuation orders, Sheriff Bill Auyb told reporters.
No injuries were reported, but at least two structures were destroyed, county spokeswoman Natalie Hernandez told Reuters by phone.
Oil production equipment at stake, belonging to California Resources Corp CRC.N., includes wells, pipelines, storage tanks and pumping plants, Hernandez said, adding there was little vegetation immediately surrounding those facilities.
“The oil fields have good fire clearance, so that works to their favor,” she said.
The overall fire zone also encompasses a lemon and avocado crop valued at between $95 million and $120 million, said Korinne Bell, the county’s chief deputy agricultural commissioner.
Preliminary assessments have found trees scorched and burned around the perimeter of a number of orchards, though the full extent of damage has yet to be determined due to limited access, Bell told Reuters.
She said avocado orchards are more susceptible to fire because they have a higher oil content than citrus and accumulate more “leaf litter” at the base of their trees, making them more flammable.
“There are a lot of avocados, but far more lemons, which is good news because lemons don’t burn as easily as avocados do,” she said.
Crop inspectors also found many trees covered in flame-retardant slurry dropped by firefighting airplane tankers during the day, she said.
The fire erupted just as fierce Santa Ana desert gusts had begun to subside after howling across much of Southern California for two days. But strong, erratic winds were expected to persist through Saturday in many mountainous and foothill areas, including the Santa Paula fire zone.
Elsewhere, subsiding winds helped in gaining control of several fires in the region that had broken out earlier.
Just 30 miles (48.28 km) to the east in Simi Valley, a blaze that raged to the edge of the hilltop Ronald Reagan Presidential Library on Wednesday was 60% contained on Friday, while containment on a separate fire that had threatened the Getty Center art museum and thousands of homes in west Los Angeles on Monday was listed at 66% contained.
East of Los Angeles, the 200-acre (80-hectare) Hillside fire that burned several homes early on Thursday in the north end of San Bernardino was 70% contained by Friday.
The latest recurrence of seasonal Santa Ana winds coincided with extremely low relative humidity levels and a prolonged lack of rainfall that has left vegetation tinder-dry in the region.

USA: Kincade fire in Northern California expands to 300 sq km
Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe
The Kincade wildfire continues raging in Northern California with helicopter seen flying above the burnt area in Sonoma County on Monday.
Dozens of buildings were destroyed and damaged by the wildfires that are rapidly spreading in secluded hilltops despite firefighters working through the night, with fire reportedly covering almost 300 square kilometres (74,000 acres). Heavy winds with gusts up to 90 mph (145 km/h) are expected to move the smoke further.
New fires broke out in Los Angeles, being dubbed the Getty fire as it emerged in dry bush near the Getty art museum and Freeway 405.
According to reports, around 3 million people across 36 counties have been left without power since Saturday morning, and at least 180,000 people were forced to evacuate by local authorities. Around 3,000 emergency service personnel are reportedly tackling the fires, which have been spread with the aid of strong winds. US President Donald Trump has not yet commented on the issue.

She Bends Neon Talk at The Midway Gallery
The neon community is small and San Francisco is very lucky to have a concentration of veterans in the trade.
At this symposium we discussed the history, process and the future of neon - moderated by San Francisco Neon/ Historic Neon Network.
San Francisco Neon -
San Francisco Neon: Talks, tours, books, and consultations on restoration projects of vintage neon in historic neighborhoods. Our sister organization, Historic Neon Network, is a not-for-profit organization under the umbrella of the Tenderloin Museum. We advocate and educate about the artistic legacy of historic neon signs as a legacy archive of art, craft, culture, and the small business fabric of the city.
PANELIST:
Meryl Pataky - Originally from South Florida, Pataky moved to San Francisco in 2002 to attend the Academy of Art University. She fell in love with the tactile nature of sculpture and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture. An artist of many disciplines and mediums, Meryl focuses on the relationship between her own hands and material. Informing her material selection is a meditation on the elements of the periodic table from noble gases to metals and organics. She is aware of the history of her elements from their origins in the universe to their applications in culture and myth. The artist derives deeper meanings from these histories to add layers to her concepts. Both a personal and process driven narrative drive the work further forward.
Shawna Peterson - Shawna Peterson has been bending neon tubing since 1987. She began her neon career with fabrication, pattern-making, and design work. This eventually led to an apprenticeship with the neon tube-bender, R.J. Wells. While working for a nationwide sign company, she worked extensively in the commercial neon field, producing signs for companies like The Gap, Safeway, Starbucks, Payless Shoe Source, Miller Brewing, and Hollywood Video. She is interested in using old signage in her artwork, transforming found metal cabinets and plastic faces into new, original pieces. Shawna bends new neon to work with her sculptures that incorporate the old sign fragments. In addition, she enjoys working with artists to create the neon they envision for their own art. Artists that she has worked with include Sarkis at the San Francisco Art Institute, Bill Kane, Mike Krouse, Jan Zivic, SFMOMA, and others.
Amy Palms - Because Amy Palms was born and raised in Brooklyn New York, that is something people should know. Most every advantage Amy has acquired in life can be attributed to her white privilege (as well as a good work ethic instilled by her midwestern parents). She received her BFA from Alfred University in mixed media sculpture, and has been making neon just about every day since 1995. “There’s a Yiddish term for thinking of a comeback too late; it’s called trepverter, which means ‘words that arrived too late’ a phenomenon this Brooklyn girl has certainly struggled with. As an artist who uses mixed media and neon in my work, I am most interested in how humans use language to communicate, which works really well with this medium. Neon is great because I have plenty of time to think about what I’m going to say, I get the last word, and all the attention for it.”
Roxy Rose - As a third-generation neon fabricator, Roxy Rose’s pieces are nothing short of mind-blowing. Her near 40 years of experience in the fires are evident in her intricate sculptures that, not only, display her mastery of the medium, but also, share personal messages and reflections on the state of the world we live in. I started neon glass blowing in 1978 and took over the business in 2000. After 30 years of neon glassblowing I too retired and let my daughter take the business over. She still runs that business to this day. Not only has our company maintained its reputation of the highest standards of neon workmanship, it has also been the largest and longest family-run neon shop on the west coast. Roxy is now free to practice her trade without the pressure of big business focusing on design and the top quality workmanship her grandfather taught her.
Roger Daniells - A 45 year veteran of the arts, Roger got his start at College of the Sequoias in Visalia, CA studying commercial and fine arts. He developed a deep love of glass art while teaching stained glass at the local city Recreation Department for two years. Working in Healdsburg, CA, he came across a neon bending apprenticeship and has worked in this medium both commercially and as a fine art form for the past 35 years.

Weinstock's Indicator! Cool Westinghouse Traction Elevators-Former Weinstock's-Sacramento, CA
To get things straight, the floor indicator is a remake of the original one. I say this because it is wayyyy too clean, and it also has a matching design as the COP does. They probably put it in when they modded these. It's still pretty cool though seeing an indicator like that in an office building. Sorry for the rushed video. A security guard let us take a quick look at these so we didn't want to poke around too much. After some quick research, we discovered that this building used to be Weinstock's!
