Fishing- *GALILEE- Rhode Island
Part of our family aboard the Francis Fleet, out of Galille, Rhode Island:
This is our family 'fishing excursion'. Tony, Anthony, JR, Elena, and me, Synoptic12 (Tommy) tattoo right arm, 'for inquiring minds. Alba-Sue was on vacation. We move past the breakers, heading out to sea. There was some slight chop on the water. You can notice the fisherman 'slicing' the fish. JR, 'black hat', was not shy from handling the fish, and mangling them! An enjoyable trip.
Tony-Business- Naples, FL
Elena-Flight Attendant (Cannot divulge airline)
Anthony- Two tours in Irag (Sgt.) 'Survived', by the will of Yahweh
JR- Still searching
Synoptic12- Member of the Assembly of Yahweh
*Footage was originally taken from a camcorder (remember those), transferred to VHS, then burning to DVD, and copying the Video TS_ files to PC, finally editing, and transferring files to Windows Live Movie Maker. We hope that some fishermen, as others, may enjoy the scenery, and the beauty of the sea.
Niantic '15
Our annual trip to Niantic Ct for 2015. Fishing was hard.. Hardest that we have ever had. Only landed the two Stripers, one was short. Couldn't get anything going, and the cap and crew being awesome took us inshore to troll around for some Blues. Always a great trip with the Sunbeam fleet.
A little fishing on Saturday morning
Such a nice place, they just had to put the highway up on the hill next to it.....you'll see what I mean as the morning progresses....But caught a couple of good bass for the pan!

July 20, 2017 New England Fishing Report with Toby Lapinski
Well, I am back from my trip to Florida last week attending ICAST. In case you missed them, be sure to check out all the new product videos that we shot at the show. The original plan was just to run 10 videos, but with all the great new stuff we found I believe that we ended up with 25 or 26 full videos in total. There was a lot to see and now we’re bringing it to you in our “Products & Gear Reviews” section of TheFisherman.com.
I have a couple of quick events that I want to remind you about before we settle into the forecast and reports this week, and I’ll begin with the 2nd Annual Channel 3 Kid’s Camp Charity Fishing Tournament taking place on Tuesday, July 25. This should be a great event with all moneys raised benefiting the Channel 3 Kids Camp. There is still time to get your tickets so check out the link in the video.
And then later next week we have the 2017 Tri-State Shootout presented by J&B Tackle. This is one of the premiere offshore fishing tournaments here in the northeast and should be an awesome event as always. Again, you can still sign up so check out the link in the YouTube card.
Connecticut
• I fully expected last week to be lights-out for striped bass in my local Connecticut waters as always seems to be the case while I am out of town, but for the most part it seemed to be a continuation of what we’ve been seeing lately. Bottom fishing remains excellent inside the Sound and striped bass catches continue to get better, albeit at a snail’s pace. That said, some large fish like the 50-incher caught & released by 10-year-old Riley Kogut popped up here and there. Bunker seem to be moving outside the rivers a little bit more, and I got word of bluefish harassing them with more frequency which I always feel is a good thing when it comes to helping the striper bite. Wounded, scared and herded-up bunker make for much better fishing in my opinion.
Rhode Island
• As I made the report calls for Rhode Island this past weekend, the big news overall was in regards to fluke as there was a major increase in the fish across the Ocean State. Fish in excess of 10 pounds were reported off Pt. Judith, Misquamicut and Block Island whereas in weeks past they seemed to be a bit more centralized. Fisherman subscriber Tony Ranaudo sent me in a picture of a fat 27-inch fluke that he caught over the weekend, and he said the fish took a whole squid bait and when it was later filleted also had a whole squid in its stomach. That was one hungry flatfish!
Massachusetts
• Moving into Massachusetts waters, the spot that did see a major run of large striped bass while I was out of town last week was the Canal. I know of a bunch of 40s, at least three confirmed 50s and rumors of a fish or two that may have been knocking on the 60-pound threshold. I have yet to confirm anything that big, and with the way fish gain weight post-catch these days I suspect that we may once again be dealing with a severe case of bravado and exaggeration. That said, plenty of big fish were caught.
