Visit to Taylor, Texas and St. John Lutheran Church
This our trip to Taylor, Texas. We had a great time. It sits on US79 and TX95. If you live anywhere in the Austin metro on the CART bus system (if you don't have a vehicle) the interurban coach has a stop in the city center. Definitely a city to visit. They also have an Amtrak station. The church sits on the hillside on TX 95. They are very nice and know the real meaning of southern hospitality.

After breakfast, we will travel into the state of Tennessee to take a ride on the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway into Great Smoky Mountains National Park. In the evening, we will travel to Pigeon Forge, TN to the famous dinner show, Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede, where we will enjoy some real southern cuisine.

Great Smoky Mountains Park This 520,000-acre park on the eastern border of Tennessee is a United States National Park and UNESCO World Heritage. It is the most-visited national park in the United States, and is renown for the beauty of its landscapes.
Ober Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway The Tramway takes 120 passengers 2.1 miles up the Great Smoky Mountains. Large windows offer magnificent views of the area. At night, passengers can see the lighted visages of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge as well as the nearby parkway.

Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede This Wild-West-Revue-type performance features animals such as pigs, horses, and chickens and is punctuated by a riding competition. The show starts an hour before dinner, with a musical act on the Carriage Room before guests are escorted into the arena.
In the morning, we will make our way to Chattanooga, TN and Lookout Mountain to see the Ruby Falls and Rock City. We will also take the Lookout Mountain Incline Railway.

Ruby Falls The Ruby Falls are a naturally-occurring underground waterfall in the appropriately-named Ruby Falls Caverns not far from Chattanooga, Tennessee. They are located underneath Lookout Mountain and are adjacent to the Lookout Mountain Caverns, although not connected.
Lookout Mountain Incline Railway The Incline Railway traces its history to 1895, when the a railway called The Incline opened to cart passengers to and from the peak of Lookout Mountain. It bills itself as one of the steepest railways worldwide.
Lookout Mountain This historic hilltop on the southern border of Tennessee has a colorful history as a place of importance during wartime. Most notably, it was the centerpiece of the Battle of Lookout Mountain during the American Civil War.

In the morning our tour continues to Tennessee with a trip through the Great Smoky Mountains. After a stop in Gatlinburg, TN, we will continue on to Pigeon Forge, TN to see the Dixie Stampede Western show, which was created by the great Dolly Parton. During the Christma (Dec. 27th), guests will also have chance to appreciate the exclusive Christmas Special Shows and a brief but exciting The Epiphany of Our Lord Chris performance. We will spend the night in Chattanooga, TN.
Great Smoky Mountains, TN The Great Smoky Mountains are a mountain range rising along the Tennessee–North Carolina border in the southeastern United States. The range is sometimes called the Smoky Mountains and the name is commonly shortened to the Smokies.

Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede In 1988, the first Dixie Stampede opened in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, just outside of Dollywood, Dolly Parton's theme park. The show is still going strong today, and has expanded to two other locations in the American South.
Chattanooga
We will spend the day exploring Chattanooga, TN and the surrounding area. Our day includes heading to Rock City and seeing the Ruby Falls.
Chattanooga, TN Chattanooga is the fourth-largest city in the U.S. state of Tennessee. A unique distinction for Chattanooga is the fact that the city has its own typeface, Chatype, which was launched in August 2012.
Ruby Falls The famous Ruby Falls, an underground waterfall, are a natural phenomenon, and are fed by rainwater and underground springs. The water from the falls flows out of the caverns and eventually joins up with the Tennessee River.
Rock City is as famous for its aggressive mid-19th-century marketing campaigns as for its views and gardens. Still, Rock City does offer a lot to visitors: panoramic views, botanical gardens, and amazing rock formations are all features.
Lookout Mountain Incline Railway This tram has been running almost continually since 1895, and with the exception of an engine update in 1911, it hasn't changed that much. The ride stretches about one mile up the mountain and reaches a grade of 72.7%.

Miss America Nina Davuluri is Indian and American
Miss America 2014 is Nina Davuluri, the first title-holder of Indian descent. And in reaction to this news, racist people on Twitter are spewing all kinds of hate, ignorance and bad grammar.
The 24-year-old from Syracuse, New York, who held the title of Miss New York before plucking the crown from the previous queen, Mallory Hagan, has not said too much too interesting about the outrage sparked by the color of her skin and the non-Westernness of her surname. She has called herself Miss Diversity, though she's not exactly the first woman of color to win the title. In fact, this year, the first runner-up was Miss California Crystal Lee, a Chinese-American from the San Francisco Bay Area, and the fourth runner-up was Miss Minnesota Rebecca Yeh, who at the very least has a Chinese surname.
Also, there was another Crystal Lee in the pageant this year, Miss Hawaii, who is half-Chinese. Not only that, Miss Texas Ivana Hall is African-American, as are Miss Alaska Michelle Taylor, Miss Virgin Islands Ashley Massiah and Miss Virginia Desiree Williams. It can also be noted that Miss District of Columbia Bindhu Pamarthi is also of Indian descent.
All this means, basically, is that the odds of having a woman of color wear the crown are not entirely slim, so really, what's up with the haters? Have they totally forgotten that America is a country of immigrants? Do they no longer believe that hard work, ambition coupled with American aggressivity, as well as good genes, a decent personal budget, cutting back on carbs, working out until you can see your biceps and smearing your teeth with Vaseline so your pearly whites glimmer, will get any gal to where she wants to be, especially if it's a Miss-something crown?
But actually, the new Miss America might be lucky that all this racism talk is going down because it's distracting folks from the fact that she might really be a mean girl, if the New York Post Page Six is anything of a reliable source. They say that Davuluri was caught on a tape saying the previous Miss American Mallory Hagan was fat as @#$% (though we don't know what the bad word was because we can think of two that work well). That's just bitchy and inappropriate.
Not that the racism thing isn't ill; it is. But it's just as ill as the whole pageant thing, which, if you have read this far, you probably realize.
