Stone Hill Winery, the largest winemaking business in the state, and Hermannhof Winery are in the town. Two miles south of town off Missouri Highway 100 West is Adam Puchta Winery, the oldest continuously family-owned winery in the nation, under direct family ownership since 1855.[12] Bias Vineyards is less than eight miles (13 km) east near Berger on Missouri Highway 100. Also included in the Hermann AVA are Oakglenn Vineyards and Winery, 2½ miles east of Hermann; Bommarito Estate Almond Tree Winery; and Röbbler Vineyards and Winery near New Haven.
The Katy Trail, a 225-mile (362 km)-long bike path, passes through McKittrick, a town on the northern side of the Missouri River across from Hermann.

Hi I'm Adam Burns with Chandler Hill Vineyards, the closest of the Missouri wineries to St. Louis.
I often get questions about our wineries products, services or the winery itself. Many visitors are interested in the wine making process here at Chandler Hill Vineyards.
Different types of wine are of course made different. Grapes are harvested and crushed on the same day. Whites are pressed which leaves skin behind in tank for 2 days at a control temperature of 50 degrees. Reds ferment with skin on for about 1 week. Vignole is fermented in a steel tank for 6 months. Chambourcin is fermented in an oak barrel for 6 months to 3 years. Norton is fermented in an oak barrel for 6 months to 1 year.

Motorcycle ride thru Missouri wine country and fall colors
I took a scenic motorcycle ride through the wine country of Missouri in the middle of October to experience the fall peak. The ride is along highway 94 outside of St. Louis Missouri on the way to Hermann Missouri during Octoberfest. #support. #supportmvc. #motovlog

A visit to Hermann, Missouri!
Hermann is a city designated in 1842 as the county seat of Gasconade County, Missouri, United States. It is near the center of the Missouri Rhineland and south of the Missouri River. The population was 2,431 at the 2010 census.
The city is the commercial center of the Hermann American Viticultural Area, whose seven wineries produce about one-third of the state's wine. Designated in 1983, it is one of the first federally recognized American Viticultural Areas. The designation recognized the renaissance of an area of vineyards and wineries established by German immigrants during the mid-19th century. Shut down by Prohibition, it began to revive in the 1960s.
Hermann holds a Maifest during the third weekend in May and an Oktoberfest the first four weekends in October. Hermann also calls itself the sausage-making capital of Missouri.

First Herman School Demolished
Fatal Trolley Crash in Hermann
HERMANN, Mo. -- A driver is dead tonight after colliding with a trolley.
The crash happened in Hermann a little after 1:30 Saturday afternoon.
State troopers say a car pulled out of the Village Plaza Shopping Center into the path of an oncoming trolley.
Troopers say the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two teens in the car suffered moderate injuries.
Paramedics took one to University Hospital and another to Mu Women's and Children's Hospital.
Troopers say about six to eight passengers on the trolley were also hurt.
The Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.
