Shot entirely on Sony A7S mark ii. This 28 mile Yosemite backcountry loop starts at the Hetch Hetchy Backpackers parking lot. Hetch Hetchy Reservoir, Lake Vernon, Laurel Lake, Till Till Valley, Rancheria Falls and views of seldom seen peaks were the highlights of this excursion. HIKING YOSEMITE in 4K | Part 4: Hetch Hetchy
In this 'virtual hike' video, we do the 5.5 mile out-n-back day hike to Wapama Falls. The scenery (as nearly everywhere in Yosemite NP) is jaw-droppingly awesome. Driving into Hetch Hetchy is like driving into an alternate reality version of Yosemite Valley...that's nearly devoid of people (let alone the huddle masses that crowd the Valley)... and it flooded, creating a stunning landscape. With little elevation gain, this is a hike that can easily be accomplished by nearly everyone. If you can walk, you can do this hike! And the despite the little effort it requires, the payoff is HUGE! I really don't know why more people don't take the time to see it... Well worth the 90 minute drive from the Valley!
The majority of this video was filmed using the Osmo Mobile 2 smartphone gimbal. The new Osmo Mobile 3 is now here and is even better! Check it out:

2017 May - Backpacking Lake Vernon, Hetch Hetchy in Yosemite National Park
Lake Vernon is located in the Tiltill Valley in the northern sector of Yosemite National Park just north of Hetch Hetchy Valley. The surface elevation of the lake is 6,568 ft (2,002 m). Due to the remote location of the lake it is usually only accessed as a backpacking destination. The area surrounding the lake was once home to a band of Sierra Miwok Indians, and numerous artifacts can be found in the area. Lake Vernon is the source of Falls Creek, which feeds Wapama Falls.

Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System | Science In The City | Exploratorium
The drinking water provided for San Francisco and many nearby communities is among the purest in the world. Located high in the Sierras, more than 200 miles away, Hetch Hetchy reservoir holds most of this water which is fed by springtime snowmelt via the Tuolumne River. The system for delivering that water is almost entirely gravity fed, requiring almost no fossil fuel consumption to move water from the mountains to the tap. Take an exclusive tour with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) as they lead us through this unique system and address the current drought and how to conserve water.
