Royal Aberdeen Golf Club, Aberdeen, Scotland
Royal Aberdeen Golf Club, Aberdeen, Scotland - Located in Aberdeen, Scotland eighty one miles north of St Andrews, Royal Aberdeen Golf Club was founded in 1780 as the Society of Golfers at Aberdeen. It became the Aberdeen Golf Club in 1815. The club’s ‘Royal’ designation was granted by Edward VII in 1903. Royal Aberdeen was originally designed by brothers Archie and Robert Simpson and later re-bunkered and lengthened by James Braid. It is the sixth oldest club in the world…and accredited in 1783 as home to the five minute rule to find your ball. This is a demanding test of Scottish links golf which runs along the North Sea shore. The fairways tumble and pitch, elevations change dramatically. There is no finer outward nine in the game. The first plays from a tee box beside the clubhouse directly toward the North Sea. The next eight play north between towering dunes on the right and a steep slope on the left that plateaus into what used to be farmland but is now the inward nine. The approach to nine plays steadily up the side of the dunes easily adding a club if not two. The inward nine runs on high ground through yellow whins and purple heather, providing a unique contrast to the sand dunes which are dominant in the outward holes…which offer more of a battle with the elements. Host of the 2014 Scottish Open, this 6,415 yard par 70 layout – along with Cruden Bay and Trump International Golf Links – is where you want to spend a couple days either coming or going to the Scottish Highlands.

Johnny Milne - Aberdeen's Worst Hangman
He only got the job because there was no-one else willing! John Milne, a former thief became civic hangman in 1810. His first execution was almost his last when a riot broke out following the hanging of Andrew Hosack, believed to have been responsible for a murder in 1798, for which he'd avoided capture. Murderers' bodies were handed over to the anatomy schools for dissection, and the Aberdeen mob were determined that Milne should give up Hosack to the surgeons!

My Visit to Balmoral Castle, Aberdeen Scotland.
About Balmoral
The history of the Scottish holiday home to the Royal Family
Balmoral Castle has been the Scottish home of the Royal Family since it was purchased for Queen Victoria by Prince Albert in 1852, having been first leased in 1848.
In the autumn of 1842, two and a half years after her marriage to Prince Albert, Queen Victoria paid her first visit to Scotland. They were so struck with the Highlands that they resolved to return. A further visit to Perthshire and then Ardverikie encouraged them to seize the opportunity to purchase Balmoral.
After searching enquiries they bought the estate on the 17th February 1848 and on 8th September 1848 they arrived to take possession of a property they had never seen, but to which they had committed themselves for many years to come. They were not disappointed and when they returned South they opened negotiations for the purchase of the land on which Balmoral stood.
Balmoral Castle
These protracted negotiations were completed on 22nd June 1852, when the fee simple of Balmoral was purchased by Prince Albert. Once the land was purchased they decided to rebuild as the building was no longer adequate for their needs. The architect selected was William Smith, City Architect of Aberdeen. Soon after the family arrived at the Castle, Mr Smith was summoned from Aberdeen on 8th September 1852.
Prince Albert decided to build a new Castle as the current one was considered not large enough for the Royal Family. A new site was chosen, 100 yards to the North West of the building, so that they could continue to occupy the old house while the new Castle was under construction.
The foundation stone for Balmoral Castle was laid by Queen Victoria on 28th September 1853 and can be found at the foot of the wall adjacent to the West face of the entrance porch. Before the foundation stone was placed in position Queen Victoria signed a parchment recording the date. This parchment, together with an example of each of the current coins of the realm, was then placed in a bottle, inserted into a cavity below the site prepared for the stone.
The Castle was completed in 1856 and the old building was then demolished. This building is commemorated by a stone which is located on the front lawn at a point opposite the tower and about 100 yards from the path. This stone marks the position of the front door to the demolished castle.
When Queen Victoria died in 1901 Balmoral Estates passed, under the terms of her will, to King Edward VII, and from him to each of his successors. Balmoral Estates has been more than just a favourite home to successive generations of the Royal Family.

Episode 3 Aberdeen Tolbooth Museum 19 June 2014
History:
The Tolbooth Museum is one of Aberdeen's oldest buildings and one of the best-preserved 17th century gaols in Scotland.
Ghosts have manifested themselves to staff and visitors over the years, with dark shadows accompanied by ghostly footsteps.
The original building on the site of the Museum was built in 1393 as an area for collecting tolls for goods that were bought and sold.
Years later its role changed to that of a holding place for prisoners about to be tried at the court.
This then developed into a general prison. The Wardhouse, now the Tolbooth Museum, was built between 1616 and 1629.
Several cells still exist in their original format; they have been restored to how they would have looked when they were used as holding cells.
The Event:
Join Afterdark Paranormal Investigations team for what will be a very interesting evening at this fantastic location.

FittieApril2016HDmpeg4
Footdee is an old village by the harbour at Aberdeen, Scotland, where the River Dee enters the North Sea. Hence the name. Locally pronounced as Fittie. It was a hard working village with very close-knit familes and having it's own local dialect. They worked at the Fishing, Shipbuilding and PIloting at the harbour.
By the 70's it had become a village of mostly incomers but thankfully has kept it's peacful charm. A collection of houses built to withstand the rigors of the weather from the North Sea.
