From exit 97 to exit 47, then a detour to Hwy. 43 through Wasco and Shafter, California. Drive ends at Hwy. 58, west of Bakersfield.
California Road Trip, April 2009
A road trip through central and northern California, April 2009. The route is CA-198 west of I-5 to US-101, then south along the Pacific Coast Highway to CA-46 south of San Simeon, and west to US-101. Some scenes are from San Francisco and Monterey.
This was my first attempt at making a video, so I used many special effects - some work better than others.
For any fans of the paranormal, there's an orb in the 6th picture from the beginning. I used a digital camera, so it's not an emulsion artifact - and clearly not a lens flare. If anyone is interested in receiving a copy of the original full-size photo, let me know. The image is 3264 x 2448 pixels, 2.0 MB jpg. I didn't notice anything at the time the photo was made, and there are no other photos with orbs. In fact, this is the only picture taken with this camera that has an orb. (so far) Photo was taken 4/17/2009 at 12:26pm Pacific. Exact location is unknown, but it's somewhere west of Coalinga on CA-198.

Accident on I-5 North near Fresno May 28 2018
Caused over 1 hour delay on the northbound side.
CHP did a very good job on blocking view, but the car was totally mangled both in the front and rear. Haven't found a news article about it. The video also shows 2 more CHP vehicles on the other side of the road shortly after the accident with another vehicle. Might have been involved.

Driving on Interstate 5 from Tracy, CA to Bakersfield, California
From SR 99 to south of Tracy, I-5 is known as the Westside Freeway. It parallels SR 33, skirting along the far more remote western edge of the great Central Valley, and thus here is removed from the major population centers such as Bakersfield, Fresno and Modesto, with other state highways providing connections. I-5 still runs within the vicinity of Avenal, Coalinga, Los Banos, and the handful of other smaller cities on the western edge of the Central Valley. For most of this section, the Path 15 electrical transmission corridor follows the highway, forming an infrastructure corridor along with the California Aqueduct.[citation needed]
North of the Grapevine, I-5 intersects SR 166, SR 119 and SR 43 before meeting SR 58, a highway that continues east to Bakersfield, near the town of Buttonwillow. I-5 then interchanges with SR 46 before entering Kings County.[16] In Kings County, I-5 intersects SR 41 before briefly entering the city limits of Avenal, where it intersects SR 269.[17] In Fresno County, I-5 intersects SR 198 and SR 145 before running concurrently with SR 33 for several miles. I-5 then crosses into Merced County, intersecting SR 165, SR 152 near the San Luis Reservoir (providing a major connection to the Monterey Peninsula and the Silicon Valley), SR 33, and SR 140 at the Stanislaus county line

California Highway 25 roughly follows the San Andreas Fault from US Highway 101 north of Hollister, south to California Highway 198, near King City.
Route description
Looking north along SR 25 in San Benito County, California
SR 25 (also known as Bolsa Road and the Airline Highway) begins at the intersection of Peach Tree Road and State Route 198 about 11 miles west of Priest Valley, in Monterey County, and is the northern extension of Peach Tree Road. It heads northwest, crossing into San Benito County and passing through the community of Bitterwater.
SR 25 provides access to the Pinnacles National Park east entrance, running parallel to the San Andreas Fault
Running parallel to the Diablo Range, SR 25 passes through the communities of Paicines and Tres Pinos and the city of Hollister. SR 25 continues northwest from Hollister, intersecting with State Route 156, and ends at U.S. Route 101 in Gilroy

Ride Down Hwy 198 & Hwy 25
Saturday ride down Highways 198 and 25 to Hollister, CA. The return route took us down Panoche Rd, but there's not much footage of that since that road is really rough. If you haven't ridden this loop, I highly recommend it! Bikes include:
