I visited Himeji with some friends. The main thing there to see is Himeji castle which was so beautiful(more intresting on the outside tho). I love to travel around Japan so see so many different and outstanding things. Now I currently living in Osaka to study japanese, so I often takes day trips near the town.

The largest and best preserved castle in the country is Himeji Castle in Himeji, Japan.
Many people know the castle as the White Egret Castle, referring to its gleaming color and soaring design.
The castle grew out of a small fort that was built on this hill in 1333.
Throughout the sixteenth and seventeenth century, Himeji Castle grew and expanded to the shape that it has today.
Because of its history and great beauty, the castle has been made into a national treasure and a World Heritage Site.

Welcome! What you are looking at is a former Universal Studios, Halloween Horror Night, Walt Disney World actor/worker youtuber here. I really want to show the world to you! I was pretty inspired by Adamthewoo to get out and start making videos, and now I've left America to do just that. Now I'm out in Osaka, Japan. Living daily life in Japan. But I make adventure videos of exploring strange Japanese locations, theme parks like Universal Studios Japan, and generally showing off life as an American Abroad Jvlogging in Japan. As well I like to make Jvlogs about life in Japan. As I am a former scareactor at Halloween Horror Nights in Florida, I am very interested in the strange side of Japanese culture. Ghosts, Yokai, the Japanese equivlent of Oujia boards, abandoned Japanese buildings, and Japanese haunted houses like the one at Fuji Q Highland it's the longest one in the world!

Day trip from Kyoto to Himeji! This side trip can be easily done from Shin-Osaka as well, still by Shinkansen bullet train!
I wanted to see Himeji castle (but there is nothing inside, there is just the wood structure so not sure if it was worth the ticket's cost tbh but the view from the top of the castle was nice!)
I also went to the garden near the castle and to my surprise it was one of the most well-kept garden I've been so far from my journey in Japan! so pretty!
If you ever go to Himeji and want to visit both castle and garden, you can buy a ticket for both places at discount price!

Things to do in Japan: The best castle HIMEJI
What to do in Japan, Osaka. Himeji Castle a short train ride for Osaka is one of the best (and actually only) castles I visited in Japan (but I hear its the best) and its pretty damn good.
We also found some VERY interesting Japanese cultural experiences on the way there!!!!
Himeji Castle 4K : Japan's Finest ???? 姫路城 ???? Japan As It Truly Is
Himeji Castle is the greatest original surviving castle in the country. If you only visit one, make sure it is this jewel in Kansai!
Actually there are only about a dozen original castles surviving in Japan (all the rest are reconstructed fakes) and Himeji Castle (a.k.a Himejijo or Hakuro-jo) has one of the oldest histories. It started as a fort in 1333, and thereafter was built into a castle and expanded. Its completed form was finished in 1618, and it has survived mostly unchanged over the centuries, while other Japanese castles were destroyed in wars, fire, quakes, or dismantled at the end of Japan's feudal era.
Given a choice to see Osaka Castle (which is not even a castle - it's a cube museum with a castle facade) or Himeji, it's not even close - Himeji Castle wins hands down. The other choice is the often ignored Hikone Castle in Shiga
and it too is an original and cherry blossom gem. But it too just can't match Himeji Castle's size and majesty.
Himeji Castle is immense in size and has many areas that just appear to dead end, and might lead you into thinking it was made haphazardly. But quite the contrary, it was deliberately done that way so to confuse any invaders. Today, it is also one of the best places in Japan to see the annual cherry blossoms, usually from the end of March to early April.
Himejijo is ranked at the top of the list for the Top 3 castles in Japan, the others being Kumamoto Castle as well as Matsumoto Castle, in Nagano.
Himeji Castle has also been used in several big films and TV over the years, including the 007 film You Only Live Twice, The Last Samurai, Shogun, plus Akira Kurosawa's Ran, and Kagemusha. In 2015, 5½ years of extensive renovations were completed, adding to its allure, and annually get around 3 million visitors. Himeji Castle has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993, one of Japan's earliest.
To get to Himeji Castle, from other Kansai cities like Kyoto or Osaka, or further, it's easiest by bullet train, especially if you have a rail pass that allows it. For those already in Kansai, one cheap way is a one day Kansai Area Pass - you can't use the shinkansen bullet trains, but it does not take that much longer. From Himeji Station you can walk about 15 minutes to the castle, or there is a 100 yen bus you can take (2X/hour weekdays, 4X/hour weekends).
Himeji Castle is open 9AM-5PM (until 6PM Apr-Aug), and admissions are closed 1 hour before the closing time. Admission is ¥1000.
For the perfect compliment to seeing Himeji Castle, don't miss the Kokoen Garden - just a 5 minute walk away. You can see it here:

There is a combo ticket you can purchase for just ¥1040 for both castle and garden, making one of the places virtually free. The ticket vending machines only sell the castle tickets, so you need to get the combo ticket at the ticket counter.
