The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is a collegiate athletic conference in the United States in which its fifteen member universities compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA's) Division I, with its football teams competing in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the highest levels for athletic competition in US-based collegiate sports. The ACC sponsors competition in twenty-five sports with many of its member institutions' athletic programs held in high regard nationally. ACC teams and athletes have claimed dozens of national championships in multiple sports throughout the conference's history. Generally, the ACC's top athletes and teams in any particular sport in a given year are considered to be among the top collegiate competitors in the nation. The ACC is considered to be one of the six collegiate power conferences, all of which enjoy extensive media coverage and automatic qualifying for their football champion into the Bowl Championship Series (BCS). With the advent of the College Football Playoff in 2014, the ACC will be one of five conferences with a contractual tie-in to an access bowl, the successors to the BCS.
Founded in 1953 in Greensboro, North Carolina, by seven universities located in the South Atlantic States, the conference added additional members in late 1953, 1979, 1991, 2004, and 2013. The 2004 and 2013 additions extended the conference's footprint into the Northeast and Midwest. The most recent expansion in 2013 saw the additions of the University of Notre Dame, the University of Pittsburgh, and Syracuse University. In 2012, the University of Maryland's Board of Regents voted to withdraw from the ACC to join the Big Ten Conference. On November 28, 2012, the ACC's Council of Presidents voted unanimously to invite the University of Louisville as a full member, replacing Maryland.

Remembering Letitia Baldrige, Jim Durham, Elliott Carter, Bill Dees
The Woman Behind Jackie In The White House
MANNERS, BASKETBALL, AND TWO COMPOSERS
The Kennedy White House of the early 1960's was known for the style and sophistication Jackie Kennedy brought to it. Letitia Baldrige was her social secretary and played a large part in creating that reputation. Ms. Baldrige became an expert on manners and social behavior, wrote books, and was on the cover of Time Magazine. Jim Durham was one of basketball's great announcers, best know for his work during the Michael Jordan era of the Chicago Bulls, when they won six championships in the 1990's. Elliott Carter was one of America's great classical composers of the 20th Century. He lived to 104 and won two Pulitzer Prizes for his work. Bill Dees teamed with Roy Orbison to write one of the seminal songs of rock-and-roll - Oh, Pretty Woman.
Letitia Baldrige (February 9, 1926 -- October 29, 2012) was an American etiquette expert and public relations executive who was most famous for serving as Jacqueline Kennedy's Social Secretary.
Jacqueline Jackie Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis (pronounced /ˌˈdʒækliːn ˈliː ˈbuːvieɪ ˈkɛnɨdi oʊˈnæsɨs/;[2] July 28, 1929 -- May 19, 1994)[1] was the wife of the 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy, and First Lady of the United States during his presidency from 1961 until his assassination in 1963. Five years later she married Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis; they remained married until his death in 1975. For the final two decades of her life, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis had a career as a book editor. She is remembered for her contributions to the arts and preservation of historic architecture, her style, elegance, and grace.[3][4] A fashion icon, her famous pink Chanel suit has become a symbol of her husband's assassination and one of the lasting images of the 1960s.[5][6] A book containing the transcripts of interviews with Kennedy from 1964 was released in September 2011
Known as the Doyenne of Decorum, she wrote a newspaper column, ran her own PR firm, and, along with updating Amy Vanderbilt's Complete Book of Etiquette, she published twenty books and appeared on Late Night with David Letterman and the cover of Time Magazine.
Letitia Baldrige was born February 9, 1926 in Miami, Florida, and grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, the youngest child of Republican Congressman Howard Malcolm Baldrige and his wife, Regina (née Connell). Her brother was Howard Malcolm Baldrige, Jr., the initial Secretary of Commerce during the Ronald Reagan administration . She attended Miss Porter's School in Farmington, CT, where she met Jacqueline Bouvier, the future First Lady.[1] The two also attended Vassar College together, from which Baldrige graduated in 1946 with a bachelor's degree in psychology.
Elliott Cook Carter, Jr. (December 11, 1908 -- November 5, 2012) was a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning American composer. He studied with Nadia Boulanger in Paris in the 1930s, and then returned to the United States. After a neoclassical phase, he went on to write atonal, rhythmically complex music. His compositions, which have been performed all over the world, include orchestral and chamber music as well as solo instrumental and vocal works.
He was extremely productive in his later years, publishing more than 40 works between the ages of 90 and 100,[1] and over 14 more after he turned 100 in 2008.[2] His last work, 12 Short Epigrams for piano, was completed on August 13, 2012.[3]
Bill Dees (né William Marvin Dees Borger, Texas; 24 January 1939 — 24 October 2012 Mountain Home, Arkansas) was an American musician most famous for his song writing collaborations with singer Roy Orbison.
Early in his career, Durham worked on WJBC radio in Bloomington, Illinois. During his time there, he covered the career of Illinois State University basketball star Doug Collins, later coincidentally the coach of the Bulls during the early Jordan years in Chicago, including the famous call listed below.
Duke's Cameron Crazies | ACC Traditions Presented by New York Life
The Cameron Crazies have long been the most overwhelming and creative fans in college basketball. The tradition is not about intimidation - it's more about using your brains to have a good time. The Crazies are part of the Duke basketball culture, so much so that Coach K and Blue Devil players feel connected to them, and believe they directly contribute to the team's success. All agree it has become a right of passage and is something every Duke student should experience before they leave Durham.

A Tribute to Veterans Day in Highland Park, Rochester NY
In the fall of 2013, Rochester local resident, horticulturist and forestry expert, Amy Priestley designed a set of four tours of the Highland Park Arboretum in celebration of this special park's 125th Anniversary. Each of the four followed a theme of discovery of science, nature and of place. The last tour on November 10th featured the newer additions to Highland Park both in land and in monuments. With the glory of past peak foliage on full display, this walk included a visit to the Greater Rochester Vietnam Veterans Memorial. This is a most special and hollowed space within all of Rochester and Monroe County. It is one of the most poignant, beautiful and informative memorials of any kind to be visited in the United States. So within the month that ends with a celebration of Thanksgiving, this event seemed especially appropriate as it served to honor Veterans Day as well.
Amy's company, Labor of Love Flower Farm, was one of several sponsors of the entire series of walks in honor of the 125th Anniversary of the Rochester and Monroe County' Park System. Each walk included a lesson on the natural history of one the nations most treasured Arboretums. The other sponsors included the Highland Park Neighborhood Association, Monroe County Parks, The Highland Park Conservancy and the City of Rochester.
This video was produced by Michael E Tomb, volunteer communications coordinator for the Highland Park Neighborhood Association and includes Amy's reading as well as pictures of the other residents and friends who came out on this windy, autumn day to walk, reflect and to pay tribute to those who serve.
Note: the video was designed in high definition so if you know how to set youtube to a better resolution, the video will be much crisper, especially on a larger screen. You will hear the wind and a little the rain in it at times, those sounds are meant as a sort of score.
