2012 Federal Hill House located in Providence, Rhode Island (Part 1 of 7)-Mission Statement
Filmed/Edited By: Prince Charles
Production Bio: In 1887, Federal Hill House was formed in the heart of Federal Hill as a settlement house to help Italian immigrants become acclimated to the New World and assimilate into the community. Today, Federal Hill House has evolved into a multi-ethnic, social service agency where people continue to seek services to improve their quality of life.
In this diverse community, Federal Hill House continues to deliver client-focused services meeting a wide range of needs -- such as our Early Child Learning Center, After School Program, senior meals, emergency food, victims of crime assistance, and our Bundles of Joy Family Support Services Program. We are also proud to be the sponsoring agent for the Foster Grandparent Program in the City of Providence. Tomorrow, we'll be here too, still working hard and providing a broad range of social services to meet evolving community needs.
Whether you need our help -- or you wish to help us as a volunteer or as a donor, we think you'll find our new website informative and inspiring.

Providence, RI, circa 1975
This is a real treat, especially if you know Providence, RI. This is Super 8 film I shot probably around 1975. The old train station had been more or less abandoned by then - it's now the site of the Capital Grille and all the other restaurants. The Paris Theater, a movie theater, showed the finest is all male adult entertainment - you can only see part of the old marquee. There's the Old Stone Bank, back when it was a bank, and the Hospital Trust building, which still stands, of course. It's safe to say, though, that this Providence just simply doesn't exist any more.

The Truth Is... (Providence Rhode Island) 2009
This is the Providence Rhode Island edition of The Truth Is... project, filmed in the Winter 2009.
The Truth Is... project was launched by Innomind.org in April 2004. It began in NYC, following by Holland, Belgium, Germany, Russia, Italy, France, Spain, London, Israel, Egypt, many US States, Canada, Azerbaijan, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, Turkey, Georgia Republic, Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic.
What is the truth? And why is everyone searching for it? Why is the truth painful, at times? This international film project portrays the views of thousands of people around the world, who were spontaneously approached and asked a simple question, What is the Truth for you?
They held a painting frame as if in a portrait and spoke their inner truths. The outcome shows the contrasts in how each person sees what truth is.
More editions of this project filmed in other countries can be watched at

Providence, Rhode Island would like to thank Travel + Leisure magazine and its readers for making us the #1 City in the United States.
Brief Stop at Federal Hill, Providence
On the way to the Navy Day celebration in East Greenwich we stopped at Providence's Federal Hill. Such a very pleasant place to visit. Costantino's Venda Ravioli is one of the most beautiful markets I have ever visited. We'll return soon. The food looks really scrumptious. The cannoli we bought in another shop was tasty, but did not compare to the cannolis in Boston's North End pastry shops Mike's and Modern. Back on the highway, we passed Rhode Island's beloved Blue Bug.
America's Most Notorious Mayor (2003)
Vincent Albert Buddy Cianci, Jr. (April 30, 1941 – January 28, 2016) was an American lawyer, convicted felon, radio talk show host, politician and political commentator who served as the mayor of Providence, Rhode Island (1975-84, 1991-2002). About the book:
Cianci was the longest-serving mayor of Providence and one of the longest-serving big city mayors in United States history, having held office for over 21 years.
Twice elected Mayor of Providence, he also served as a prosecutor and attorney. Notably, he was forced to resign from office twice due to felony convictions. His first administration ended in 1984 when he pleaded nolo contendere to charges brought against him. His second stint as mayor ended when he was forced to resign following his conviction for one count of racketeering conspiracy, and he served four years in federal prison.
Cianci was first elected mayor as the candidate of the Republican Party. While in office he declared himself an independent, and as of 2009 he said he had no party affiliation. On his radio show in June 2014, Cianci announced that he would run for mayor again. He was defeated by Democratic candidate Jorge Elorza.
Buddy Cianci: The Musical, an off-Broadway musical created by Jonathan Van Gieson and Mike Tarantino. The musical incorporates much of the material from The Prince of Providence.
On the animated sitcom Family Guy (set in Rhode Island), Chris attended Buddy Cianci Junior High School. One episode was titled Fast Times at Buddy Cianci Jr. High.
Cianci made several guest appearances as himself on the television show Providence.
Cianci launched a brand of tomato sauce, Mayor's Own Marinara Sauce. It was claimed that proceeds form sales were Benefiting Providence School Children and helped hundreds of students attend college. However, an August 2014 Associated Press report found that in recent years, no money from the sauce's sales has been donated to Cianci's charity scholarship fund, The Associated Press has learned. From 2009 to 2012, the sauce made a total of $3 in income, longtime Cianci adviser Charles Mansolillo told the AP. In 2009, they lost $2,200 on the sauce, Mansolillo said. The following year, they made $2,974, while in 2011, they lost $2,969. In 2012, they made $2,198 profit, he said. That adds up to a profit of just $3 during the 4-year period.
Providence hip-hop artist, Zumo Kollie released a song titled Buddy Cianci on November 4, 2014.
The Prince of Providence is a non-fiction book written by Mike Stanton based on the true life of American politician Buddy Cianci.
The book is being adapted by writer David Mamet into a feature film. Michael Corrente and David O. Russell are in talks to serve as director.
