PLANTATION TOUR || LATTA PLANTATION
Hey everyone! It has been a while!
We took the kids to a local living history site. Latta Plantation was built in 1800 and served as a cotton plantation. The kids had a lot of fun looking at the old buildings and seeing what life used to be like, and of course, seeing all the livestock. The plantation site is also home to ALexander Cabin, the OLDEST cabin in Mecklenburg County! Alex thought that was pretty cool! We hope you enjoy our little adventure as much as we did!
I'm Amy, He's Tim, and this is our family. We have 4 kids, 5 cats, 3 ferrets, and lots of laughs.

Letters From Latta
This is a Glen Cashetta's student short documentary of the Latta Plantation located next to the Catawba River in North Carolina, U.S.A . The film is about life on the plantation, slavery, and service in the Confederate Army. It is a treatment of life in the Southern United States during the Civil War Period. The original letters, provided by the Historic Latta Plantation are brought to life using actors in historical costumes of the period. The Latta story is one of the grounds and the people who lived there during the 19th Century from 1820 to 1863. This film is an opportunity to take a glimpse at a significant time in our historical life. This film was made for Film 3050 at The University of North Carolina- Charlotte (Spring 2011).
Trail of History: Historic Latta Plantation
We visit the plantation, learn about the family that owned it, life for the enslaved people who labored in the fields, see the buildings still standing today and the animals that provide a real life back-drop for tours, reenactments, and educational programs.

A LINKS SIGNATURE HOME - This 5 bedroom 6 bath Rockville Centre home pays homage to victorian elegance while being fully modern as well. Walk up the herring bone brick sidewalk and step between the iconic pillars which were restored from a southern plantation onto the wraparound porch and through the front door into the marbled foyer. Here is the world of a totally restored and updated grand residence. It features new windows, siding, roof, plumbing, an electric box and CAC zone on each level, new oak floors and staircases, and a sprinkler system that runs throughout the house.
The north side of the house features a formal dining room and a side office. The rooms are graced by crenelated molding and ceiling medallions that showcase the chandeliers. Pocket doors separate these rooms from the large living room which features a gas fireplace. The family room is a spacious, airy, and well lighted room for relaxation. The large windows look out on to the landscaped backyard. The kitchen is perfect for anyone who loves to entertain. It features black galaxy granite countertops, a Wolf double oven stove, and a Sub-Zero refrigerator. Imported tiles create a pastoral scene over the stove with hand-crafted cabinets completing the picture.
The second floor features the master suite which includes a sitting room and master bath with a whirlpool tub. There are two more king size bedrooms one of which has its own private bath and a full hall bath as well on this floor. Stained glass leads the way up to the third floor where there are two more full bedrooms and a full bath. On both of these floors there is plenty of closet space and a full attic for storage on the third level. As well, there is plenty of room for storage in the full basement.
Outside, the long driveway, landscaped with roses, peonies, rhododendrons, and evergreens leads to the three car garage. The landscaped rock garden features a large koi pond with waterfalls and a bridge over the pond into the screened in gazebo which contains electric for evenings spent outside. Japanese maples, water lilies, and the sound of falling water provide a serene tableau perfect for relaxing, reading, and entertaining.
This home is the jewel in the crown of homes that surround it in this Rockville Centre neighborhood.
