[Wikipedia] Mount Savage, Maryland
Mount Savage is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Allegany County, Maryland, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 873.
A small blue-collar community, Mount Savage lies at the base of Big Savage Mountain in the Allegheny Mountains, between the cities of Frostburg and Cumberland. It began as a small farming settlement in the mid-19th century, but it was not until 1844 that the region was put on the nation's map with the pressing of the first iron rail in the United States. After this claim to fame, Mount Savage became the fifth largest city in Maryland. Named as the headquarters for the Mount Savage Railroad and later the Cumberland and Pennsylvania Railroad (C&P), the area was deemed an industrial center. In addition to the rail businesses, Mount Savage attracted a foundry, two brick refractories, and several local merchants. In this company town, the industries shaped the economy and topography of Mount Savage, building housing for workers and donating land for schools, churches, and other public buildings. It was a cultural melting pot attracting English businessmen and Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Italian, and German workers. With this diverse mix of cultures, the identity of Mount Savage was molded into a close-knit community. Despite the loss of the industries to the region, Mount Savage continues to celebrate its hard-working traditions. The Mount Savage Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

This was just extremely irritating. The night before Team Savage was leaving for their own rally, Jimbo and Sanjeev got pulled over no more than 5 minutes from the designated meeting place. Jimbo was driving his Mercedes S600, and Sanjeev was driving the Ferrari F12. Basically, he opened the valves for the exhaust under an underpass. Right after he went through it, a cop that supposedly was following us threw on his lights. He got behind Sanjeev and began to pull him over, Jimbo was in the clear. Foolishly, he pulled over to investigate. Things only got worse from there as registration issues were found along with problems with the temporary license plate tags. All of this (even though Randy showed up and was able to provide proof of ownership) got the car towed to impound. Almost any other day this would have been “ok.” But we were supposed to leave at 6AM. Tune in next time to see how we got it out!

WE'RE ON NBC NEWS! SUPERCAR OWNERS GIVE BACK TO THEIR COMMUNITY!!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS! On this episode of Savage Garage, we give back to our community. Not far from our HQ, there’s a St. Jude Children’s Hospital. John Aks and his friend Ben Berman last year organized a toy drive (toys 4 tots) rally where from Potomac MD they’d drive up to the Hospital in Washington DC. This year, with our channel, we wanted to make a larger impact.
We had a great little rally to go up to this hospital and had thousands of dollars worth of toys donated to the children who are in the hospital for the holidays. All the toys will be handed out on Christmas Day.
Huge thing for us, NBC Channel 4 News did a story on us! Although they spelled Randy’s last name wrong, it was very cool being on our local news showing we care about our community.
Enjoy the holidays everyone! Spend time with your friends and family! They only come around once a year.

Schindler 300A Hydraulic Service Elevator - Historic Savage Mill Old Weave Building - Savage, MD
Recorded December 8, 2019. The service opens in the Cellar on B, a Loading Dock on G, the Antique Store on 1R, the Ram's Head's 1st floor on 1, the Great Room on 2R, and The Ram's Head's 2nd floor on 2. I don't know where G opens, but I assume it's just another storage room.

Savage Mill 201st Anniversary Explore Tour! Unique History And Finds! 9/16/2017
Becky and I go check out the historical Savage Mill and attend there 201st Anniversary event. We walk around and explore the history of the old mill and check out the shops, food and other very unique things inside this amazing place including a basement full of unique antiques! Located in Savage Maryland. Filmed on 9/16/2017.
Day Odyssey Series: Garrett County - MD's Great Northwest
The next in our Odyssey Series takes us to Maryland's largest and westernmost county, and it seems to exist in a world by itself!
Welcome to scenic Garrett County Maryland! But first, we'll get another glimpse of Cumberland, and-for the first time in an Odyssey Series-visit the onetime railroad town of Mount Savage, former home of a steam locomotive factory. A huge RR yard once existed here too, known as Borden Yard of the former Cumberland & Pennsylvania RR (the WMRY scenic trains use some existing C&P trackage for the last mile to Frostburg). The on to Frostburg for a quick look around, before finally ascending into Garrett County.
Garrett sits on a plateau in the Alleghenies about 3000 ft up. Due to this elevation, in the winter, there can be a blizzard occurring there while the moon and stars shine in Cumberland!
After departing the previously-featured Casselman Bridge, we'll make stops at Negro Mountain (actually rather interesting), the amphitheater overlook (a scenic bend on old US 219), Deep Creek Lake (popular but pricey resort) and the classic train station in Oakland. We'll then go on to the Cranesville Sub-Arctic Swamp (YES-a swamp! But still interesting). We then visit a place I've shown you before in a video from the 1990s (but got better video here): the smallest church in 48 states! I admit-I'm not the quintessential churchgoer-but I found this mini cathedral really cool!! I'd attend mass if it wasn't for the 4-hr drive-ONE way!!
Then to a couple other onetime B&O RR spots: Loch Lynn Heights (another classic station there) and Swanton (former logging locality on the B&O/CSX 17-Mile Grade). Along the way we'll pass through Deer Park (YES-the Deer Park the water comes from!!). We also skirt by Mountain Lake Park and Bittinger.

There's much more to see and do in this county, and I'll return one day and show you more!! For now, join us on this trip!
