The Maryland Dove at Historic St. Mary's City
The Maryland Dove is an exhibit at Historic St. Mary's City, a museum of living history and archaeology on the site of Maryland's first capital. She represents a coastal trading vessel from the 17th century and is named after the Dove, the smaller of the two ships that carried the first colonists and their belongings to Maryland. Visitors can board the ship and learn about colonial trade and travel. Two paid crew and volunteers work with occasional apprentices and interns to maintain and sail the ship. Emily Sillcox (emsillcox@gmail.com), a 2012 graduate of St. Mary's College of Maryland, produced this video for her senior project. Visit stmaryscity.org to learn more about the museum, the ship and all of HSMC's living history exhibits, and volunteering on the ship.

St. Mary's Ga: Walking Tour
Hey there dollar-saving divas! I can truly say that Fall is my favorite time of year! I absolutely love when October rolls around because since my birthday is on the 21st, my sisters, niece, mom and myself all get together for a girls outing. This year we met up and had a spa night, and then the next day we set off bright and early on an adventure to St. Mary's Ga.! I had never been to St. Mary's before, but I was eager to check it out because it is the second oldest continuously inhabited city in the United States. Once home to pirates, smugglers, and a robust shipping industry, the city now prides itself on a diverse blend of residents and has sustained a rich and varied history. I wanted to share my experience of visiting St. Mary's and so I recorded our day and all of the things we seen. From this video you can see that the city enjoys the festivities of decorating for Fall, so in keeping with the spirit of the season, I thought it would be a nice little Halloween treat~

St. Mary's College Ruins
Exploring what's left of the old St. Mary's College, abandoned in 1972. This college was originally set up as a Roman Catholic seminary during the 19th century and was closed about a century later. This college gained its nickname as a result of the numerous legends/rumors surrounding the institution, which include stories of satanic worship and ghosts.

Autumn in St Mary's Ga
Hey there budget beauty family ^_^ Today I have a throwback video featuring footage of last year's day trip to St. Mary's Georgia :) I thought it would be interesting to upload this video since it was Autumn when I went there last year and because of that they had a lot of great Halloween decorations out. I also explored the Oak Grove cemetery and got some great footage of historical sites. Here's an excerpt from the City of St. Mary's website:
The Historic Oak Grove Cemetery was laid out in 1788 and draws visitors from all over the world, whether they are looking for ancestors, studying history or just looking for a tranquil walk to get away from the pressures of life. Soldiers from all of our country's wars rest in peace under moss-wrapped oaks, azaleas and camellias. The tragedies and triumphs of lives lived in St. Mary's are represented in the beautiful inscriptions engraved on the stones of yellow fever victims and those of the French Arcadians who were driven out of Nova Scotia in a horrendous fashion and have finally found a home here on the banks of the St. Mary's River. Statesmen and craftsmen, plantation owners and slaves, now all together, draw a picture of an earlier time when life was simpler and everyone knew their neighbors and considered them friends.
I find the city of St. Mary's very interesting, rich in history and beautiful in it's landscape. St. Mary's is the second oldest city in America and it makes a great place to visit, if just for the day, though they have some really quaint and cozy bed-and-breakfasts available too. I hope y'all enjoy this tour of my day trip which is accompanied by some awesome music ;D If you have any questions please feel free to leave them below, I love to read your comments and suggestions ^_^ Thank you for watching and stay tuned for more videos to come! Bye! xoxo
