Historic Village of Hokkaido, Japan: Tour of Kaitaku no Mura
Please excuse my heavy breathing. I had a slight cold, was wearing a mask, and it was a bit chilly outside. I don't have the tools to filter out my breathing sounds without also filtering out the tour guide.
Kaitaku no Mura (開拓の村, Historical Village) is an open-air museum in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan. It gives a picture of what towns in Hokkaido used to look like. Some of the buildings seem to date back to the Meiji era (late 1800s), but based on the electric lighting and other things I found (like an old film projector), I'm guessing the town represents the Showa period (1920s-80s). I haven't had time to verify this myself yet.
JAPAN VLOG: The Historical Village of Hokkaido [Kaitaku-no Mura]
Hi guys welcome back to my channel
I went to this Historical village last month, and I highly recommend coming here during winter or spring or autumn. Made a mistake of going end of winter because the snow is already melted but no sakura yet!
Unlike Nikko Historical Village, the admission fees are really cheap with only 800 Yen per person!
It is located around 40 mins from Sapporo Station.
U could take a bus from Shin Sapporo Station as well.
Hope u enjoy this video, if you have any other question please leave them in the comments section :)

Hokkaido Historical Village
29th August
We spent our last day in Hokkaido at Kaitaku no Mura, an open museum not far from where we were staying, which shows traditional houses from various parts of Japan, particularly Hokkaido. It would have been very quiet if not for a big school excursion.

Sapporo - Hokkaido Historical Village
Day 11 - Hokkaido Historical Village (Kaitaku no Mura)
Once again, all access to Asahikawa is blocked off, so we decided to spend the morning at Hokkaido Historical Village then head off back to Otaru to do more window shopping. However we spent so much time here that we decided to skip Otaru since we have already been there.
This video I took was in one of the various buildings that was transported here from various locations around Hokkaido. I didn't take many other videos, but I did take plenty of pictures. I might consider doing a picture slideshow once I finish uploading videos.

Historic Village of Hokkaido
The Historic Village of Hokkaido contains almost 60 buildings from the Meiji and Taisho periods of Japan. This is a beautifully staged outdoor museum in the middle of the Nopporo National Park. many building allow you to enter to see what life was like for people who lived during that time period. My grandmother who was born in 1928 may have seen this type of architecture when she was growing up in Japan and the village helped me feel a little closer to her. Because the village is in a forest it truly feels relaxing due to the nature that surrounds it. To get to the Historic Village of Hokkaido take the train to Shin-Sapporo or Shinrin Keon station and from there it is only a short bus ride. I recommend Shinrin Koen Station as directions to the park are clearly marked and the simplicity of the station provides less confusion especially for those who cannot read Japanese. It cost ¥1200 to visit the park in a combined ticket that includes the indoor museum as well. Double check opening times and dates as the park hours change due to the season and holidays.
