Village of Fisher
The picturesque sawmill Village of Fisher still reflects the nostalgic past of a by-gone era and gives visitors the feeling of stepping back in time.
Built in 1889 by Louisiana Longleaf Lumber Company, the Company owned the entire Village. The Company buildings that survive today are some of the finest examples to be found of the lumber industries own handiwork. Until 1966, all the homes in the town were owned by Louisiana Long Leaf Lumber Company. The town was sold to Boise Cascade, and Boise in turn sold the homes to the residents and the general public.
Each year at the holiday season, the Village of Fisher lights up its historic buildings in style, and it is a sight to see. Lighted from Thanksgiving through New Year's are the old Commissary building (shown at left), the City Hall building, the old Fisher Baptist Church, the Opera House, the Post Office, and an old Kansas City Southern caboose.
The Village is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Located 6 miles south of Many, Louisiana on Hwy 171.
The Town's history is celebrated the 3rd weekend in May with the Fisher Sawmill Days Festival.

Fort Jesup
ort Jesup State Historic Site is located off LA 6 at 32 Geoghagan Road, six miles east of Many in Sabine Parish.
Originally called Cantonment Jesup, the site was selected by Zachary Taylor in 1822 and the fort existed for 26 years as one of the strongest garrisons in Louisiana.
Located on the historic San Antonio Road, the fort was once a large complex of 82 structures. Four companies of the Seventh U.S. Infantry made up the first garrison of Fort Jesup; there were 141 officers and men.
This site features the original kitchen/mess building and a reconstructed officers' quarters that houses visitor information, a gift shop, interpretive exhibits and restrooms. Facilities also include a museum and picnic area. Guided tours and frontier skills demonstrations are offered daily. In 1961, Fort Jesup SHS was designated a National Historic Landmark by the U.S. Department of the Interior.
Admission: $2/person; free for Seniors (62 and over) and children 12 and under.
Hours of Operation: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Louisiana Purchase State Park
A short video that lets you hear the sounds of Louisiana Purchase State Park which is located in Arkansas. The rock monument you see in the video is the point where surveying began to create the Louisiana Territory which more than doubled the size of the United States in 1815. It is now in the middle of this charming little park that is out of the way and receives very few visitors.

Had a nice stay at Chicot State Park, Ville Platte, Louisiana. Lots of water and beautiful board walks for fishing. Lots off large camping spots with plenty of room, one we will definitely stay at again.

Sam Houston Jones State Park, Louisiana
Had a wonderful stay at the beautiful Sam Houston Jones State Park, Lake Charles, Louisiana. Large paved lots with plenty of shade. A very nice park and we will definitely stay there again. If you like water and nature you will love this Park. Met a heck of a nice guy named Chris who is traveling the country on is Harley and towing his camping gear with him. He even bought one of my All American hand made pipes from me, so we definitely had to set back and enjoy a good smoke at the camp site.
