Innsbruck Hofgarten : royal garden in the centre of the city
The ten hectare Hofgarten is located in the centre of Innsbruck right next to the royal palace - after all where else would one expect a royal garden to be located? It was originally laid out on the site of a river meadow under the direction of Archduke Ferdinand II in the sixteenth century. At the time, it was one of the most elaborate gardens laid out north of the Alps.
Over the years, the garden has been a Renaissance garden, a French formal garden and, since 1858, an English landscape garden. It contains plants that were planted personally by the Austrian Empress, Maria Theresa. The Tiroler Kunstpavillon (Tyrolean Art Pavilion) in the middle of the park dates back to 1733. Today, the pavilion supports numerous events—mainly concerts. Chess tournaments are held on the outsize chess boards next to the pavilion.
There is a lawn for sunbathing in the Hofgarten with a children's playpark. Otherwise walking on the ornate lawns is not permitted because they are susceptible to excessive use.
The palm house contains a comprehensive collection of about 1,700 species of plant, which may be viewed mostly on working days. During the temporary art and sculpture exhibitions in the summer season the palm house may also be visited at weekends.

Innsbruck royal palace, Austria
The Hofburg, Imperial Palace of the Habsburgs in Innsbruck, Austria is perhaps one of the three most significant cultural buildings in the country, along with the Hofburg Palace and Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna. The Hofburg is the main building of a large residential complex once used by the Habsburgs that still includes the Noblewomen's Collegiate Foundation, the Silver Chapel, the Hofkirche containing Emperor Maximilian's cenotaph and the Schwarzen Mandern, the Theological University, the Tyrolean Folk Art Museum, Innsbruck Cathedral, the Congress, and the Hofgarten (Court Garden).
The original Hofburg palace was constructed from several elements under Archduke Sigismund around 1460. This structure included sections of medieval fortifications that ran along the eastern city wall. The building incorporated the Rumer Gate, which was later converted into the Heraldic Tower in 1499 by Jörg Kölderer under Emperor Maximilian I. The palace was expanded several times during the next 250 years. Between 1754 and 1773, the Hofburg palace underwent two stages of Baroque structural changes under Empress Maria Theresia: the south tract was constructed (1754–1756) on the Hofgasse according to plans by J. M. Gumpp the Younger, and the main façade was added (1766–1773) on the Rennweg according to plans by C. J. Walter. During this period, the Giants' Hall was completed with ceiling frescoes by F. A. Maulbertsch, and the Imperial Chapel was built (1765) in the room where Maria Theresa's husband Emperor Francis I had died.
Today, the Hofburg contains five themed museum areas: Maria Theresa's Rooms from the eighteenth century, Empress Elisabeth's Apartment from the nineteenth century, a Furniture Museum, an Ancestral Gallery, and a Painting Gallery. These themed museum areas illustrate various aspects of the political and cultural history of the former imperial palace, which remained in the possession of the Habsburgs for more than 450 years.

Austria FPV ???? - Experience Innsbruck and the Austrian Alps from above ????
Experience the beautiful and cosy city of Innsbruck in Austria through the lens of my TinyHawk Freestyle and my 5 freestyle quad.
If you're wondering how I got the HD images from the Emax Tinyhawk Freestyle, you're in luck! I'll be posting a video soon about how I customized it so it can do just that! (And it still flies like a bat out of hell!)
Innsbruck is a nice, quite, cosy and beautiful city (or village?) near the Alps in Austria. I went there for a bungee jump from the Europabrücke which is (yet another) video that will come up soon! I promise!
Austria is a beautiful place, especially for flying drones and quads. I wanted to visit a place like this for years, so having the opportunity not only to see this place with my own eyes but fly my FPV drones here and see the beautiful country side from above really was a humbling experience.
This was not my last visit to Austria and perhaps Innsbruck!

Innsbruck im Sommer - Austria HD Travel Channel
Innsbruck, the capital of the federal state Tyrol is the fifth largest city in Austria with more than 121.300 inhabitants The first traces of settlements in the Innsbruck date back to the Neolithic.1420 Duke Frederick IV, nicknamed with empty pockets, made Innsbruck his residence and had the Hofgarten, a protected park, laid out. After the death of Frederick IV, his son Sigismund, called in Tyrol 'rich in coin', was under the guardianship of his uncle Kaiser Frederick III. who could make good use of the income of rich Tyrol for a long time. Only after the Tyroleans threatened him with the rebellion, Sigismund 1446 could take over the reign. Due to his dissipated lifestyle the same persons, however, forced Sigismund 1490 to resign and king Maximilian I. took over the government and became Emperor in 1493.
Innsbruck owes Maximilian I. the Golden Roof, a magnificent oriel with 2,657 fire-gilded copper tiles, which he had built at the turn of the century, to create a striking symbol of the golden age which was to begin. Today it is the landmark of city.
Innsbruck was venue of the Olympic Winter Games in 1964 and in 1976.
At Bergisel, the local mountain of Innsbruck, a statue reminds of Andreas Hofer, whom his ultimate loyalty to the emperor, at the end cost his life.
Ferdinand II purchased and rebuilt Castle Ambrass, in the southeast of Innsbruck, for his Chamber of Art and Curiosities as well as his portrait and armouries collection.
