Top 7 Things to do in Hoi An, Vietnam
We shot this Top things to do in Hoi An, Vietnam video from what has become one of our favourite locations we've visited so far. Hoi An is simply an amazing must-visit city in Vietnam. We hope this video helps you get a glimpse into as much magic as we were able to capture during our 5 night stay in Hoi An, Vietnam.
If you're planning a trip to Vietnam, it should include a visit to Hoi An Ancient Town and you definitely need to stay from day until evening because everything changes at night. From the glowing silk lanterns to the row boats slowly drifting down the river. This little Hoi An old town is simply charming. Just be prepared for the big crowds to pack in during the evening and night time.
Remember to pick up your tickets from the ticket stations located around the Hoi An Ancient Town. Once you pay for this you can visit any 5 special attractions of your choice.
Some of the ticketed attractions we visited in Hoi An Old Town were:
1. Assembly Hall Of Fujian Chinese
Address: 46 Trần Phú, Cẩm Châu, Hội An, Quảng Nam, Vietnam
Hours: Monday - Sunday 7am–6pm
2. Japanese Covered Bridge
Address: Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai, Phường Minh An, Hội An, Quảng Nam 564010, Vietnam
3. Museum of Trade Ceramics Hoi An
80 Tran Phu St. | Minh An, Hoi An, Vietnam
Hours: Monday - Sunday 7am–6pm
You should also visit Hoi An Night Market in the Ancient Town. Cross the Hoi An bridge and you'll enter the night market. Much more enjoyable at night with all the boats running along and lanterns fully lit up. It is a very touristy area though so just be aware of the higher prices and crowds.
Chicken Rice Place (not sure if the Google marker/address is quite in the right place, but the shop name is Cơm Gà Hiền and the photos shown are correct in the map link!)
Cơm Gà Hiền
593 Hai Bà Trưng, Phường Minh An, Hội An, Quảng Nam 550000, Vietnam
If you're looking for a nice beach to relax in Hoi An has you covered.
There are 3 main beaches in Hoi An:
- An Bang Beach
- Tan Tanh Beach
- Cua Dai Beach
An Bang Beach will be the most busy so try Tan Tanh or Cua Dai if you're wanting more space to relax.
We also went to an ancient temple and UNESCO world heritage site called My Son Sanctuary to find out some of the amazing history of the Champa people who once lived in Vietnam. My Son Sanctuary is a must-visit when you're in Hoi An, Vietnam especially if you love history and ancient ruins.
The World Cultural Heritage My Son Sanctuary

Da Nang-Hoi An, Central Vietnam. Different time, different view.
Thank you for watching
The Ancient Town of Hoi An.
The best time for walking tour in the UNESCO World Heritage Town of Hội An is between 16: 00 and 19: 00, I think. Tourists flock to the town at this time of the day. Starting in late afternoon when it's cool, but still bright enough for you to see clearly real life, daily activities happening in the anceint town before sunset. And when it's getting dark, soft lights from thousands of lanterns hung on almost all buildings light up the streets to illuminate the surroundings. We can wander from Hội An market along Trần Phú St., on the way, stop by to visit Phúc Kiến Assembly Hall, Museum of Trade Ceramics, Museum of Sa Huynh Culture, Japanese Covered Bridge... then turn left, continue strolling on Nguyễn Thái Học St. ... or if the itineray including boat tour, from the bridge go on Bạch Đằng St. to the boat station for embarkment. Mostly, the motor boat tour take around an hour on the river, starts and finishes at the same place. Or we can also take a ride on a sampan to see lanterns afloat on the river at night.
Thank you for visiting.

Hello everyone, this video I will take people to visit Hoi An Folklore Museum, currently located at 33 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Hoi An City, this is essentially an old house adjusted revised to become a museum displaying artifacts of traditional villages on Hoi An as well as the local culture during the formation of the trading port.
The folklore museum of Hoi An is a place to store many precious artifacts, describing the culture and life of people living on this land. In modern times, the cultural features of Hoi An have lost a lot in the past and this is a place to retain the inheritance of Hoi An, it deserves a destination that should not be overlooked when visiting the Town. Hội An
formerly known as Fai-Fo or Faifoo, is a city with a population of approximately 120,000 in Vietnam's Quảng Nam Province and noted since 1999 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Heritage and tourism[edit]
In 1999, the old town was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO as a well-preserved example of a south-east Asian trading port of the 15th to 19th centuries, with buildings that display a unique blend of local and foreign influences. According to the UNESCO Impact Report 2008 on Hội An, tourism has brought changes to the area which are not sustainable without mitigation. [clarification needed]
Due to the increased number of tourists visiting Hoi An a variety of activities are emerging which allow guests to get out of the old quarter and explore by motorbike, bicycle, Kayak or motorboat. The Thu Bon River is still essential to the region more than 500 years after António de Faria first navigated it and it remains an essential form of food production and transport. As such kayak and motorboat rides are becoming an increasingly popular tourist activity.[8]
This longtime trading port city offers a distinctive regional cuisine that blends centuries of cultural influences from East and Southeast Asia. Hoi An hosts a number of cooking classes where tourists can learn to make cao lầu or braised spiced pork noodle, a signature dish of the city. This culinary experience has become an increasingly popular activity for visitors.[9]
The Hoi An wreck, a shipwreck from the mid-to-late fifteenth century, was discovered off the coast of the city in the 1990s. A few years later, it was excavated; thousands of ceramics were discovered.[citation needed]
Museum[edit]
The city has four museums highlighting the history of the region. These museums are managed by the Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Management and Preservation. Entrance to the museum is permitted with a Hoi An Entrance Ticket.[10]
The Museum of History and Culture, at 13 Nguyen Hue St, was originally a pagoda, built in the 17th century by Minh Huong villagers to worship the Guanyin, and is adjacent to the Guan Yu temple. It contains original relics from the Sa Huynh, Champa, Dai Viet and Dai Nam periods, tracing the history of Hoi An's inhabitants from its earliest settlers through to French colonial times.[11]
The Hoi An Folklore Museum, at 33 Nguyen Thai Hoc St, was opened in 2005, and is the largest two-storey wooden building in the old town, at 57m long and 9m wide, with fronts at Nguyen Thai Hoc St and Bach Dang St. On the second floor, there are 490 artifacts, organised into four areas: plastic folk arts, performing folk arts, traditional occupations and artifacts related to the daily life of Hoi An residents.[12]
The Museum of Trade Ceramics is located at 80 Tran Phu St, and was established in 1995, in a restored wooden building, originally built around 1858. The items origina

Hoi An, Vietnam | The World in 4K | Travel + Leisure
In the middle of Hoi An is an area called Ancient Town, and the sobriquet fits. Commanding a prime location on Vietnam’s central coast, where the Thu Bon River empties into the South China Sea, this city was a maritime heavyweight for much of its history. The region was settled more than 2,000 years ago, and it served as a strategic port until the mid 1800s for Chinese, Japanese, Indian, French, Dutch, and Portuguese seafarers and traders plying the spice route.
In 1999, Ancient Town, inland from the ocean, was named a UNESCO World Heritage site, which protected its pagodas, wooden bridges, and merchant houses, many built between the 15th and 19th centuries. Ever since, tourists have crowded this historic center, essentially a romantic (if somewhat kitschy) living museum. But now a newly revamped beach resort is bringing attention back to Hoi An’s oceanfront — and a lively renaissance is under way, with entrepreneurs from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and beyond intent on steering Hoi An into the present.
Even with all the new activity, Ancient Town’s dreamy golden façades still evoke a bygone age. People start the morning by lighting argan wood incense, the musky scent perfuming the sepia-tinged lanes all day. Farmers peddle herbs, fishermen fillet catfish and eels, and hawkers advertise noodles and dumplings. Come nightfall, floating candle offerings flicker on the river. This colorful port city has matured gracefully — but a new golden era is just beginning.

Hoi An & My Son, UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Central Vietnam
Hoi An, founded 2000 years ago, became the port cum commercial capital of the Champa Kingdom during 7th-10th c., and was an important international port in 16th-17th c. before the role was usurped by Da Nang during the French rule. It has been influenced by the Chams, Chinese, Japanese, Dutch, Arabs and French. The Arab traders converted some of the Chams to Muslims, and they migrated to Cambodia, and some even say to the Pattani/Kelantan area of the Malay Peninsula.
My Son is the site of ruins of Hindu temples from the Champa Kingdom (3rd-18th c.). Structures dating from the 7th c. are being preserved and gradually restored.

Hoi An Ancient Town Viet Nam - Viet Nam Tourism
Hoi An is a beautiful city in Vietnam, just south of Da Nang. The Old Town of Hoi An is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The ancient architecture of Hoian is a fascinating combination of Vietnamese traditional characters with Chinese and Japanese influence. There are plenty to see in this delightful town, some of which are the famous Japanese Covered Bridges, the Pottery Museum, the 200 years old Tamky House, the Chua Ong Pagoda, the vibrant market. Today we include these on a walking tour past many low tiled houses scattered along the small streets and assembly halls which reflect the town's multi-cultural past. The remainder of the day will be free for your own exploration of the
town and catching up on some shopping areas.
