Hong Kong Hikes: Buffalo Hills
Water Buffalo and West Buffalo Hills are located in the mountain ridges between Shatin and Sai Kung.
It is gaining popularity among the Hong Kong hikers with views to both side and the entrance and exits aren't the easiest to find (we missed it on the first time and I only found it on my second hike - this is the third)
The hike takes about 4 to 4.5 hours and is fairly steep.

HONG KONG TRAIL 50KM HIKE
We did the full HK trail in one day. That's 50km with over 2400m ascent and over 2600m decline. Start at The Peak and end at the other side of the island at Big Wave Bay. We did this on a sunny, hot 31C degree day in mid October.
TIP: DON'T do this hike on a sunny Sunday! We ended up at Big Wave Bay that was packed and the bus line was around 200 people long! Also, there are around 8 toilets over the 8 stages but no water fountains (at least that we saw), so bring enough water for the first 25km and go into Park'nShop at Parkview and top up! Or do what we did and fill up at the taps by the toilets on the other side of Mount Butler (although they do say untreated water! YOLO)
Standouts: Hiking in pitch dark for an hour, in the night passing the spot we saw a Chinese cobra last week, seeing a huge porcupine, the sunrise over Aberdeen, lunchtime! And obviously finishing!!!
GOOD LUCK!

The Quickest Hike in Hong Kong!
In this video, Rea and myself go on the quickest hike in Hong Kong. Mount Johnston is so close to the city it represents what's unique about this part of the world: that the city and nature are so entwined together and everything is so accessible by MTR, its hard to say no to hiking it!
Mount Johnston is nearly 165 metres of rope climbing on the second most populated island in the world!

Actual Footage Of Filipino woman plunged to her death while hiking in Tai Po Hongkongg April 05,2019
A 25 year-old woman who fell to her death from a waterfall in the New Territories on Friday morning April 05,2019 lost her footing while taking a selfie with a group of friends, witnesses have told police investigators.
Believed to be a Filipino domestic worker, the woman hiked to the waterfall at Ng Tung Chai in Tai Po with four other people, RTHKreported. She was pulled unconscious from the water and taken to Tun Mun hospital by the Government Flying Service, but later pronounced dead.
A Filipino domestic worker who had accompanied the women to the waterfall said she fell about 15 meters down the cliff while taking a photograph, suffering head injuries. The accident happened around 11am and police were notified 15 minutes later.
One of the nine famous rivers in Hong Kong, Ng Tung Chai also has the biggest waterfall. Conway Leung Nim-ho, a hiking expert, told Headline Daily that there was a metal railing on top of the cliff and hikers don’t often climb over to take pictures
