Places to see in ( Edinburgh - UK ) Princes Street
Princes Street is one of the major thoroughfares in central Edinburgh, Scotland, and its main shopping street. Princes Street is the southernmost street of Edinburgh's New Town, stretching around 1 mile from Lothian Road in the west to Leith Street in the east.
Princes Street is mostly closed to private cars, with public transport given priority. The street has virtually no buildings on the south side, allowing panoramic views of the Old Town, Edinburgh Castle, and the valley between. Only the east end of the street is open to all traffic. The bulk of the street is limited to trams, buses and taxis.
Princes Street was originally to have been called St Giles Street after the patron saint of Edinburgh. However, King George III rejected the name, St Giles being also the patron saint of lepers and the name of a notorious 'rookery' of slums in London. The street is named after King George's two eldest sons, the Prince George, Duke of Rothesay (later King George IV) and the Prince Frederick, Duke of York and Albany.
From the 1880s the Princes Street , with its commanding views in combination with great ease of access, became a popular street upon which to locate hotels. The railway companies created huge anchor hotels at either end: the Caledonian Hotel to the west, and North British Hotel to the east. In between were the Royal British Hotel, Old Waverley Hotel, and Mount Royal Hotel, all of which survive.
Several UK high street brands such as Boots, Scotland's largest Boots City Store, BHS, H&M, Debenhams, House of Fraser, Marks & Spencer, Topman and Topshop, hmv also Scotland's largest record store are just a few of the shops located along Princes Street. Jenners department store (now owned by House of Fraser) is an Edinburgh institution, surviving the disappearance of many other local department stores, such as Patrick Thompson's.
The Gardens contain the Ross Bandstand (an open-air theatre), a war memorial to U.S. soldiers of Scottish descent and a floral clock, together with other attractions. Two of the main Scottish art galleries, the Royal Scottish Academy and the National Gallery of Scotland, are located at the foot of The Mound and are served by Princes Street tram stop.
Princes Street's eastbound lanes are restricted to trams, buses, taxis and cyclists. Edinburgh Waverley at the East end of Princes Street is the nearest rail station. The Princes Street tram stop is an in-road island, situated just west of the Royal Scottish Academy near the Foot of the Mound. Princes Street is well-served locally by Lothian Buses. Edinburgh Bus Station is close to the east end of Princes street, at St Andrew Square.

House of Fraser gets green light to axe 31 stores across England - Daily News
House of Fraser PLC,Poundworld,New Look,Toys R Us /form House of Fraser has been given the green light to lose 31 stores and 6,000 workers, it's been revealed. The high street chain has previously been consulting on the closures as part of its restructuring plans. The department store chain will undertake the closures through a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA), which will also allow it to secure rent reductions on its remaining shops. Closures will affect up to 2,000 House of Fraser staff and a further 4,000 across brands and concessions. All stores identified for closure are anticipated to trade until early 2019. Frank Slevin, Chairman of House of Fraser, said: The approval of the CVAs is a seminal moment in House of Fraser’s history. We must now continue with the implementation of our restructuring plan. This is also an important milestone in the transaction with C.banner and moves us toward the completion of the capital injection first announced in May.” Alex Williamson, chief executive officer of House of Fraser, added: The CVA proposals have been approved by our creditors and we are grateful for their ongoing support and belief in the future of House of Fraser. This was clearly a difficult decision to take but is, ultimately, the only one to secure our future. Our focus is on supporting all of our affected colleagues and we are exploring every opportunity available to them working alongside the Retail Trust and the wider retail community. The news comes after the retailer hired consultancy firm KPMG to restructure its business after a poor Christmas trading period. At the time, bosses warned of 'underperforming' stores and revealed plans to sell a significant stake to Hamleys boss C.banner. A statement previously said the firm had no viable future without the agreement which would allow the business to continue trading whilst paying off debts and reducing overheads. Gorgeous Matthildur competing in a modelling compitition at House og Fraser Oxfordstreet 6.9. 2012 - Matthildur Ylfa tekur þátt í fyrirsætukeppni hjá tískuhúsinu House of Frazer á Oxfordstræti í London. Þar sem við vorum að ganga niður götuna kom ljósmyndari Antony hlaupandi til að spjalla við okkur og hvort við vildum koma inn í viðtal og myndatöku. Hér má sjá myndatökuna.
House of Fraser has teamed up with cult brand Religion and Premier Model Management to launch a nationwide model search. Worn by some of the biggest names in the business, the brand is looking for two new ambassadors, one male and one female aged 16 -- 22, to star in their Autumn/Winter 2013 lookbook and campaign. In addition, the lucky winners will receive a contract with Premier Model Management, £800 each to spend on Religion clothing at houseoffraser.co.uk, and an exclusive launch event in London where the winners will be announced. Launching at Vogue's Fashion Night Out on the 6th September at the Oxford Street store, Premier model scouts will be visiting Religion concessions in House of Fraser stores up and down the country, in the search for Britain's newest faces. Joining Carole White, Founder of Premier Model Management on the judging panel are Mette Gaughan, Religion's Creative Head of Womenswear and Louise Bailey, Senior Buyer at House of Fraser.
Religion is probably best known for its trademark deconstructed dresses, cool-kid oversized t-shirts, graphic printed vest tops and rockstar handbags.

House Of Fraser ADMINISTRATION My Reaction
The painfully obvious potential of House Of Fraser may never be realised as Administration looms. C Banner has withdrawn its 51% purchase and £70 million offer. Sports Direct owner Mike Ashley has put an offer so has Philip Day of Edinburgh Woollen Mill. If stubborn board room politics get in the way now, or a quick cash injection, then in just three to four weeks, in could be full blown administration for House Of Fraser.
Who would buy House Of Fraser out of administration? Well with with reduced credit and a decreasing amount of retailers with ready cash it is not an easy question.
I don't think HMV and Homebase owners Hilco would be interested and neither would any other turn around company or private equity firm, if the stock is not there and the brand under a cloud for so long, even the brand might become unsalvageable.
I think it would have to be a proper retailer with available cash like Next or Mike Ashley or Edinburgh Woollen Mill maybe.
