Beijing 4K - Walk around the Tian’anmen - China 中国北京天安门元宵节行走视频
The Tiananmen or Tian'anmen, or the Gate of Heavenly Peace, is a monumental gate in the centre of Beijing, widely used as a national symbol of China. First built during the Ming dynasty in 1420, Tiananmen was the entrance to the Imperial City, within which the Forbidden City was located. Tiananmen is located to the north of Tiananmen Square, separated from the plaza by Chang'an Avenue.
The building is 66 metres (217 ft) long, 37 metres (121 ft) wide and 32 metres (105 ft) high. Like other official buildings of the empire, the gate has unique imperial roof decorations.
In front of the gate are two lions standing in front of the gate and two more guarding the bridges. In Chinese culture, lions are believed to protect humans from evil spirits.
Two stone columns, called huabiao, each with an animal (hou) on top of it, also stand in front of the gate. Originally, these installations were designed for commoners to address their grievances by writing or sticking up petitions on the columns. However, the examples in front of the Imperial City were purely decorative and instead connoted the majesty of the imperial government.
The western and eastern walls have giant placards; the left one reads Long Live the People's Republic of China, while the right one reads Long Live the Great Unity of the World's Peoples. The right placard used to read Long Live the Central People's Government for the founding ceremony of the PRC, but after the ceremony it was changed to Long Live the Great Unity of the World's Peoples. Both placards were changed to use simplified Chinese instead of traditional Chinese characters in 1964. The phrasing has significant symbolic meaning, as the phrase used for long live, like the Imperial City itself, was traditionally reserved for Emperors of China, but is now available to the common people.
The reviewing stands in the foreground are used on International Workers Day (May Day) and on the National Day (October 1) of the People's Republic of China.
In front of the stands is the Imperial City's moat, still filled with water but now containing decorative illuminated fountains.
In ancient times, the Tiananmen was among the most important gates encountered when entering Beijing's Imperial City along with the Qianmen, the Gate of China. Proceeding further inward, the next gate is the 'Upright Gate', identical in design to the Tian'anmen; behind it is the southern entrance of the Forbidden City itself, known as the Meridian Gate.
Because of the gate's position at the front of the Imperial City, and historical events that have taken place on Tiananmen Square, the gate has great political significance. In 1925, when China was ruled by the Nationalist government, a large portrait of Sun Yat-sen was hung at the gate after his death. In 1945, to celebrate the victory over Japan, Chiang Kai-shek's portrait was hung.
On July 7, 1949, pictures of Zhu De and Mao Zedong were hung to commemorate the Second Sino-Japanese War. Since then, from the founding date of the People's Republic of China, a portrait of Mao has been hung at the square on October 1. Each year the old portrait is replaced before October 1, the anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. However, on certain occasions the picture has been different. For example, on March 9, 1953, a picture of Joseph Stalin was put up due to his death.
In 2011 Alexander Pann Han-tang, chairman of the Asia Pacific Taiwan Federation of Industry and Commerce, and a close friend of Taiwanese president Ma Ying-jeou, proposed that the picture of Sun Yat-sen be displayed at Tiananmen Square instead for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of China.[7] However this proposal was rejected.

I thank the Golden Horse judges. First off, they gave the award to the cinematographer who had a really difficult job. Our actors didn't know where they're suppose to walk, the cameras need to naturally capture what's happening to them (inaudible). Also our editors, it's not the usual way of editing films. It's also edited according to the sequence of events as they happened. I don't want the actors to be disrupted, or whatever was happening

In Hong Kong for the Hong Kong Film Award, I received many nominations before I finally own one. This is my second nomination at the Golden Horse Award and I won. I feel very happy. I think movies are special. For example, Life Without Principle, after we do our part, the film has a life of its own. It's still living. I'm still not sure where it's going, I don't know who's going to watch this film, or the kind of impact this film will have. That's what I think it's so fun about movies.

STORYLINE
HUABIAO AWARDS
China's hottest movie stars and directors graced the red carpet in Beijing for the 13th biennial Huabiao Awards hosted by the government on Saturday.
The event received the most attention in the history of the awards ceremony since it was first instituted in 1957.
Unlike years before, many high-profiled celebrities attended the event ahead of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Actress Zhang Ziyi and director Feng Xiaogang, were among the hopefuls who attended the ceremony honouring the biggest names in Chinese cinema.
Other notable stars included Jackie Chan, Chow Yun-fat and Jet Li. I grew up in Beijing. There's a big party in Beijing. We're so happy and we welcome everybody, said Jet Li in a red carpet interview.
Zhang Ziyi is expected to win the award for best actress in her role as Mei Lanfang in Chen Kaige's much acclaimed film Forever Enthralled, based on the biography of China's greatest opera singer.
Zhang will be competing with Jiang Qinqin (City of Dreams), Fan Zhibo (Emergency), and Dong Ling (Heng Ping Shu Zhi) for the best actress award.
Feng Xiaogang was nominated for best director of The Assembly, a story about China's civil war. Chen Kaige will also be competing for the same honour for his film Forever Enthralled.
The Assembly and Forever Enthralled are both among the 20 candidates for best feature film.
In previous years, the Huabiao Awards was known for its political undertones often awarding movies that would promote government interests.

Dalian's Xinghai Square / 星海广场 / 星海廣場
Xinghai Square / 星海广场 / 星海廣場 is a city square in Dalian, Liaoning Province, China located to the north of Xinghai Bay. It covers a total area of 110 ha (270 acres), making it the largest city square in the world. Its name literally means the Sea of Stars.
Xinghai Square was built at the centennial of the City of Dalian in 1998. The sculptures of 1000 footprints and an opened book facing the sea commemorates the vicissitudes of the city's history. Across the Xinghai Bay, the Xinghai Bay Bridge could be seen.
Around the square are high-end apartments, restaurants, banks, luxury sports car dealers and an amusement park. The Xinghai Bay beach, the Castle Hotel, Dalian Modern History Museum and Dalian Shell Museum are also nearby. Located on the opposite side of the sculpture complex is the Xinghai CBD, which houses among other things Dalian Xinghai Convention & Exhibitions Center, Dalian World Expo Center and the headquarters of Dalian Commodity Exchange.
For 10 days in late-July early-August, Xinghai Square holds the annual International Beer Festival.
A huabiao (19.97 meters high) was once located at the center of the square. It was first built in 1997 to commemorate China's resuming sovereignty over Hong Kong. It was the tallest Huabiao in China, and it became one of the landmarks and symbols of Dalian. It was demolished secretly on August 5th, 2016 at midnight. It was believed to be out of some political reasons. Local media remained silence about this, and covering reports by mainland media were soon deleted.
In 2017-11-26, Xinghai Square opened its new musical fountain at the center of the square, it known as the largest musical fountain in Northeast of China. Xinghai Square musical fountain is the third musical fountain in Dalian, the other two are in Donggang and Renmin Square.
