Hyams Beach is a victim of its own success - on a sunny summer's day thousands of people descend and turn paradise into purgatory. But if it's white sand you're after, you can find it on plenty of other awesome beaches in the bay. This is my round-up of Hyams alternatives that are better than their famous cousin!

JERVIS BAY AREA // MURRAYS BEACH, HUSSKISON, HYAMS BEACH & BRISTOL POINT BEACH
Just when you thought the South Coast of NSW couldn't get any better, it did!
Classified with the whitest sand in the southern hemisphere Hyams Beach is a tourist spot in this area which you have probably hear across somewhere in your travels. But take it from a local, its over rated. Why not check out one of these other beaches around the area like Murrays Beach or Bristol Point Beach?
In this video Meg takes us to the Jervis Bay Area and shows us some of the amazing beaches you can expect to find around this area. My fave beach is Murrays but I was blown away by how stunning Bristol Point Beach as was and the fact I had never discovered it before just blew my mind.
Jervis Bay Area is about 1.5 hours north of Batemans Bay and a couple hours south of Sydney. The township of Huskisson is always bustling and there are great eateries and boutique shopping to be discovered. You could certainly make a weekend of it and get out of the city as there are a range of accommodation options in the town and I believe there are also some amazing camping spots just outside of the township.

Hyams Beach has the whitest sand in the world
Officially the whitest sand in the world, Hyams beach was declared to be number one in that category and I had to see it for myself so the crew and I headed south of Sydney once again to see the pristine beaches that Jervis Bay neighboring little villages have to show off.
South of Jervis Bay we found just paradise: beaches with water colors worthy of a fantasy movie, soft and white sand, islands, rock formations and adventure everywhere.
At the end of the day, we were left with this beautiful memory now immortalized in video. I hope after you watch this you decide to go explore this area yourself.

Just before the arrive of all the tourists, I paid a visit to the three glamour beaches of Jervis Bay - Hyams, Greenfields and Blenheim. The sound crapped out on my GoPro with all the beach recordings so I did all the voiceover stuff in my office and I've now invested in a proper microphone! Hope you enjoy this tour of three of the region's best known beaches. Slightly more secluded locations to follow.

Things to do in Hyams Beach, Jervis Bay & Eden: Melbourne to Sydney Drive
Discover the whitest sand beach in the world: Hyams Beach in Jervis Bay. The Sapphire Coast in New South Wales is an absolutely mind-blowing road trip if you're making your way from Melbourne to Sydney via the coastal route.

After we said 'Sayonara' to Victoria and crossed into New South Wales, our first stop was the beautiful township of Eden, roughly a 4-hour drive from Lakes Entrance in Gippsland. From there, it's super easy to explore the vast and scenic Ben Boyd Park and the town's gorgeous beaches and coastlines.
2 days later, I've made up my mind about where I'm going to retire. Plans sorted. We then drove another 2 hours to Bermagui, which was a perfect halfway point to stretch our legs, whip out a picnic and run amuck at the stunning Blue Pool Bermagui. You absolutely have to stop here to admire and enjoy this incredible little spot and, if the weather permits, go for a dip inside.
The real stunner was Hyams Beach located in the bottom half of Jervis Bay in New South Wales. If you want to dig your feet into some of the finest and whitest sand beach in the world, then a few nights here (or even a week) is absolutely necessary. Only a 2-hour day trip from Sydney, Jervis Bay Australia is the perfect getaway from the city to get back in touch with nature. It certainly is one of the most breathtaking Sydney beaches, or probably, in all of Australia. Prove me wrong.
If Jervis Bay isn't on your Melbourne to Sydney itinerary, then you need to rejig that entire plan - right now.

209 // Hyams beach at Jervis bay was way too crowded (we just couldn't park the car) so we headed to Greenfields beach and had a ball. Spent the night in Malua bay which was lovely, thank you Suter family!

WHITEST SAND BEACH IN THE WORLD - Hyams Beach (Jervis Bay, NSW, Australia)
Hyams Beach is a seaside village in the City of Shoalhaven, New South Wales, Australia, on the shores of Jervis Bay. At the 2016 census, it had a population of 112. The village, 180 km south of Sydney, is bordered by 2 beaches, Chinaman's Beach to the north and Seaman's Beach (sometimes referred to as Sailors Beach) to the south. Hyams Beach is the beach in the centre.
The beaches face east, out across Jervis Bay and Point Perpendicular to the Pacific Ocean. The sand at these beaches is known for being fine, soft, and brilliantly white. The Guinness Book of Records reports Hyams Beach as having the whitest sand in the world.
The village is bordered by Jervis Bay National Park to the north and Booderee National Park and Botanic Gardens to the south which gives Hyams Beach a 'natural bush' feel with an abundance of native plants, animals and birdlife. Other nearby attractions include Jervis Bay Marine Park and surrounding trails and forests.
