Going To The Sun Road - Hiking with Mountain Goats - Glacier National Park, Logan Pass - Montana
After setting into our St.Mary's/East Glacier KOA campground, we head into Glacier National Park for a day of exploring. We take the shuttle up the Going to the Sun road. It was an easy, quick way to avoid the hassle of parking. Once at the highest point, Logan Pass, we hop out and take a hike to Hidden Lake. This beautiful lake is nestled in the mountains and we were in awe of the wildflowers, mountain streams, and wildlife we saw. We lost count of the number of mountain goats we passed!

Gunsight Pass Hike, Glacier National Park - Part 1 of 3
hike from Gunsight Pass TH to Gunsight Lake Outlet. Even though I uploaded this to HD, watching it on Full Screen is NOT advised. Going thru the forest is a little blurry. Don't forget to change the quality setting (to the right of the minutes of video next to the clock) to HD 1080. I think this next video is much better - Part 2:

Our Itinerary:
Day 1 - #pitamakanpass and #dawsonpass
This hike was absolutely incredible, a great way to kick off our trip! We broke our record for longest day hike ever, and had a BLAST doing it!
Day 2 - Upper #twomedicinelake & #twinfalls
Another great hike, this one takes you by an incredible double waterfall and ends at the BEAUTIFUL Upper Two Medicine Lake!
Day 3 - #avalanchelake & #trailofthecedars
Probably the busiest of all of these hikes, but with good reason. Avalanche Lake is SO SO pristine and calm!
Day 4 - #bowmanlake & #numaridge lookout
This is the furthest West we'll go, and the most remote hike of all 9! Numa Ridge is epic, but it is a GRIND to get to!
Day 5 - West #lakemcdonald
No trip to Glacier is complete without a stop at Lake McDonald. A great way to see this lake is by hiking the West side and finishing with an ice cream cone in Apgar Village!
Day 6 - #hiddenlake and #goingtothesunroad
If the Going to the Sun Road is open, you drive it! And when you do, stop at Logan Pass for the Hidden Lake hike! You won't regret it.
Day 7 - #crackerlake
We made it to Many Glacier! 3 of our 4 favorite hikes, starting with Cracker Lake and the most blue milky water we have seen up to this point! And we saw a mountain goat and moose at the top!
Day 8 - #iceberglake
There are literally icebergs in this lake. Everywhere! And this is in Grizzly territory, so be prepared.
Day 9 - #grinnelllake & #grinnellglacier
Our favorite hike of our entire time in Glacier! Grinnell is SO SO SO COOL!

Grizzly Bear Kitchen Iceberg Lake Trail Van Life In Glacier National Park
Today van life took me to the Grizzly Bears kitchen. Iceberg Lake Trail is well known for bear activity. I met a Blackfoot Tribe couple while in Browning, MT at a little cafe. Just before I left for Glacier National Park the couple let me know that it was a must do to complete the Iceberg Lake Hike.
I figured it had to be good advice beings that the folks were locals. They thought my self built campervan was cool. Ask me a bunch of questions about van living and whether or not I liked living in a van. I told them it has its perks and its downsides. But, took their advice for my hiking excursions.
This trail left from Many Glacier Entrance as well and so I did some stealth camping less than a mile out of the national parks entrance sign. I think it would be cool to have Nomadic Fanatic show me some filming angles to improve bring this content to you. But, he wasn't there, still eat your hear out emon and bec. Look forward to seeing you soon Campervan Kevin and RVer TV. Just foreshadowing the upcoming meet ups.

Many Glacier Hotel - Glacier National Park, Montana, USA
As we finished our two day stay at Yellowstone National Park we headed up to Montana to visit Glacier National Park and stay 3 nights at Many Glacier Hotel. I read about the area and hotel online but it could not do it justice to how our experience was when we first set our eyes on Glacier National Park as we drove inside the park on our way to Many Glacier Hotel. Then getting to the hotel and seeing the scenery was just fantastic. This was at the beginning of July and to see the snow mixed in with the green all over the mountains made it more beautiful. I did not know how much snow would be around at the beginning of July and I was surprised by how much was still there. The Hotel was very rustic and the feel inside was very comfortable. There are no tv's, no cell phone use or pc's to use. It made it more enjoyable in my opinion because you could relax inside or out and just enjoy the scenery to its fullest all around the area and not be bothered by electronic gadgets :-)
When we were there the weather was very unpredictable with rain at times and then bright sunshine. The clouds coming over the mountains made for a perfect setting also. It was in the 50's to high 60's for our stay and we had one awesome day of just sunshine when we went hiking around Swiftcurrent Lake.
This area is VERY remote and it adds to your stay here at Many Glacier Hotel. We did see wildlife, a Moose family, Mountain Goats, Prairie Dogs and even a Grizzly Bear through (binoculars) and even then was hard to make out.. but we were not dissapointed in NOT seeing that bear any closer..
I'll have two other videos, one of our hike around Swiftcurrent Lake and another from our Red Bus Tour we took for a day. Don't miss either video because they are spectacular viewing, especially the Red Bus Tour up to Logan Pass and the Continental Divide.. WOW!
Here is some more info on Many Glacier Hotel from Wikipedia:
Many Glacier Hotel is a historic hotel located within Glacier National Park, Montana, USA, on the east shore of Swiftcurrent Lake. The building is designed as a series of chalets, up to four stories tall, and stretches for a substantial distance along the lakeshore. The building has a Swiss alpine theme both on the outside and on the inside. The foundation is made of stone, with a wood superstructure. The outside is finished with brown-painted wood siding, and the window framing and balconies have wood sawn in Swiss jigsawn patterns. On the inside, the four-story lobby is surrounded by balconies, whose railings are patterned after Swiss designs.
Construction began at Many Glacier Hotel in 1914 and was finished in just 1 year on July 4, 1915. The Great Northern Railway was establishing a series of hotels and backcountry chalets in the park and the Many Glacier Hotel was the Gem of the West. This was part of an effort by Louis Hill, president of the Great Northern Railway and son of James J. Hill, to establish Glacier National Park as a destination resort and to promote the area as the American Alps. To this end, Hill chose a Swiss chalet style for the hotels and chalets. The Glacier Park Lodge (previously known as the Glacier Park Hotel) and the Many Glacier Hotel were intended to be the core structures, while the chalets and campgrounds were sited in the backcountry within an easy day's ride or hike from one of the hotels or another chalet. The chalets were intended to entice visitors to leave the hotels and see the backcountry in a more rustic manner. These chalets were especially used during the early 1900s when the Hotel first opened, and the main attraction in the park was horseback riding. In the early days of Many Glacier Hotel only the rich and famous could afford to stay in this beautiful structure and the rustic chalets throughout the area.
Today, the hotel still maintains its historic character, in part by not placing televisions in guest rooms. Most rooms either have views of Swiftcurrent Lake or the surrounding mountain scenery. Facilities include the Ptarmigan Dining room, the Swiss Room Lounge and Interlaken Lounge, Heidi's Snack Shop, and Grizzly Track Traders Gift Shop. The hotel is a contributing property in the National Historic Landmark, Great Northern Railway Buildings district. The main attractions in the area include hiking, boat rides or rentals, or simply enjoying the western environment that Many Glacier provides.

Glacier National Park Hiking » Grinnell Glacier & Highline Trail (Montana)
My husband, Jerry and I took a 2 week road trip to Glacier National Park. We backpacked and hiked for 6 days. We day hiked on Grinnell Glacier and also briefly hiked along the Highline trail at Logan Pass. We saw so much wildlife on the day hike to Grinnell Glacier. Mountain Goat, big-horned sheep, a marmot, a mountain lion, ground squirrels (they crawled all over us) and moose!! The views were unbelievably epic and more beautiful than any other place I've ever seen! We can't wait to go back!

Hiking Glacier National Park doesn't end here! As I am spending 2 weeks in Glacier, I plan on tackling as many hikes as I can. This park is amazingly feral! Most of the park is untouched by human hands and truly wild! Stay tuned to see more of the park by subscribing to my channel!

Hidden Lake Overlook Trail
Highlights of a rainy morning hike to the overlook of Hidden Lake at Logan Pass, Glacier National Park, Montana (1.35 miles, elevation gain of 1,400 feet) in August, 2017. Along the trail we pass the blooming wildflower meadow of Hanging Gardens, the Garden Wall, cross the Continental Divide and at the overlook the view faces Bearhat Mountain. Watch for one of the many ground squirrels.
This is a busy trail and the parking at Logan Pass can be tricky. An early start is best.

Backpacking Glacier National Park - North Circle Route. (Part 1) Montana, August 2019
This is the first video of 2 from a 6 Day, 5 Night backpacking trip in Glacier National Park, Montana.
This video would not be possible without the kind help of Nick Furukawa and his wife, who found my SD cards lying on the trail on day 5 of our trip. Without them, this video would not have been possible.
We did what some call the North Circle Route starting on the East side of the park at the Many Glacier area.
We drove north towards Montana on Sunday August 11th, car camping the first night. The next day we drove into the park and starting backpacking at the Iceberg/Ptarmigan Trailhead.
We hiked up to the Ptarmigan Tunnel cutting through the cliff side and then dropping down to Elizabeth Lake for night 1.
Day 2 we hiked from Elizabeth Lake to Glens Lake Head campground for night #2.
Day 3 we left Glens Lake and headed up very steep and beautiful Stoney Indian Pass, and down to Stoney Indian Lake campground for night #3.
Day 4 we descended from Stoney Indian Lake down into the Waterton Valley, then climbing up to Fifty Mountain to camp for night 4.
Day 5 we left Fifty Mountain and heading towards Granite Park campground. I lost my Micro SD cards on the trail at this point, and following the trip I put in a lost and found for the cards, they were luckily found on the trail and mailed back to me! Night 5 at Granite Park Chalet was very rainy.
Day 6 we left Granite Park campground and headed up Swiftcurrent Pass. We then descended back into the Many Glacier Valley and back to the car.
This trip was absolutely stunning, and it was a treat to be able to get the pictures and videos, nearly a month after the trip concluded. I had little hope that I would ever get a chance to re live the experience, and now you can as well.
I hope you enjoy this part 1 preview video of our trip to Glacier National Park. Enjoy!
Part 2 coming soon!
