Oigawa Railway Ikawa Line, Oku-Oi-Kojo station
Oigawa Railway's Ikawa line was constructed in 1935 as a private railway for the development of hydraulic power sources in Oigawa basin. Once dam constructions were completed, original Ikawa line's track went down under the water surface level of the dams, so it was re-routed up to above them.
Now, Ikawa line is the steepest railway in Japan. The grade between Abt-Ichishiro and Nagashima-dam stations is over 9%.
The trains are boosted by electric locomotives with Abt rack rail for climbing this section.
Also, Sekinosawa viaduct is the highest railway viaduct in Japan which height is 70.8m above Sekinosawa river.
Oku-Oi-Kojo station is very unique, because it is located above middle of Nagashima dam, It's like floating on the lake.
Ōigawa Railway - Ligne d'Ikawa (Japon)
Portant le nom du fleuve qui longe la ligne, l'Ōigawa Railway se compose d'une section de plaine avec la ligne pricipale, et d'une section plus montagneuse, à gabarit réduit: la ligne d'Ikawa. Cette ligne fut construite dans le but d'achemnier le matériel nécessaire à l'érection d'un barrage. Dans les années 1990, le barrage de Nagashima fut lui aussi érigé, s’apprêtant à submerger une partie de la ligne. Un tronçon à crémaillère et de grands ponts (90 pour mille, système Abt à trois lames) permirent de contourner le barrage. Les trois prises de vues ont été prises entre les stations de Abt Ichishiro Station et Nagashima Dam, ainsi qu'à l'approche de la station d'Okuōi kozyō, le 25 septembre 2013.

Lake Ikawa & Tunnel 65 out of use, Ikawa, Shizuoka 23/Nov/2013 #1 静岡市井川湖と廃線の第６５隧道
Tunnel number 65 was used long time ago for dam construction of Chubu Electric Power Company. This tunnel was recently re-opened to public as a walkway between Ikawa Dam and Doudaira Plaza.

[Overview]
There are around 3,000 dams in Japan. They are used for a variety of purposes, from irrigation to flood control, but many of them are used daily to ensure safety and support people's lives.
The purpose of this movie is to propose a new use for them as tourist attractions.
{About Dams in Fukushima]
There are around 60 dams in Fukushima.
Some are unusual, such as the Okutadami Dam, the second biggest dam in Japan, or the unique Shitoki Dam offering views of the ocean, but this movie will focus on two particular dams.
Part 1 will take a look at Takashiba Dam, one of Fukushima's oldest dams, and Part 2 will focus on Surikamigawa Dam, one of Tohoku's biggest rock-fill dams. They are both interesting dams with many unique features.
Valuable images have been filmed thanks to the supervision and cooperation of people working for the control centers of both dams.
