Balaji's Tanjore Paintings - Chennai City Reviews
Tanjore Paintings - Balaji Kalai Koodam
Tanjore painting is one of the ancient traditional and classical painting art form. It is believed that King Saraboji had discovered this form of painting. Since it originates from Tanjore (Thanjavur), the art is named after the town. The specialty of Tanjore painting is the usage of original gold foils, stones and pearl to enrich the appearance of the painting. Art and craft have jelled together in the making of these wonderful paintings. The face of the painting is designed by art and jewellery craftwork is done by using Gold, Diamond and Ruby.
Government sector had taken various motivational steps to encourage the art by arranging free exhibitions for the promotion of Tanjore paintings. Artists and patrons of this art also conduct Tanjore painting art exhibitions in many places like New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Chennai. Tanjore painting symbolizes the classical richness and tradition of ancient Indian arts & culture. The classic Tanjore painting has the caliber to attract the viewers a lot. For example, if you look at this Andal picture from any angle, you would get an impression as if the image is looking at you. The water proof Tanjore paintings are made of original gold, stones and other precious materials.
Since it is grabbing the attention of many people, youngsters and students take a lot of interest in learning the art. Many home makers, college and school going students are approaching us keenly to learn the art. We conduct two month courses for teaching the Tanjore painting. Classes are being held on alternate days of the week like Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays based on their convenient time schedule. Many of our students after learning the techniques of the art well, teach others in many other places of India and even in abroad like California, Singapore, etc. They exhibit their talents and creativity.
Tanjore painting represents a traditional and classical Indian art. Government sector and authorities are making full fledged efforts to protect the art from vanishing. We also do our best for flourishing the art by teaching the classical painting art to many youngsters. We also do rework some of the earlier sketched paintings. We would certainly ensure that this art lives forever.

India Travel Vlog | DELHI - First Day, Culture Shock, Impressions
Welcome to the beginning of a great Journey with JAM & XF in India!
Travel Locations in the series: Delhi, Agra, Varanasi, Goa, Kerala & Udaipur.
We begin in Melbourne and arrive first in Delhi, the capital city of India and arguably the most busy/polluted place to begin. Either embrace the chaos or live in constant overwhelming stress!
Hotel Hamilton Lodge is was our choice for accommodation, located in Haus Khas, about 20 minutes from the airport and we would recommend it for the cost, it was quite clean and central to things. They offer a tasty complimentary breakfast too!
Shopping in the famous streets/markets of Chandni Chowk (in old Delhi) really throws you right into the culture shock. It’s loud, busy, dirty and full of people eager to get some business from tourists! Keep your wits about you here :P
Don’t make the same mistake as us by visiting Red Fort on Monday, it’s the only day it's closed! Finally we loved the New Kashmir Art Gallery at Connaught Place, great family business and quality shawls & stoles...
Just the beginning: Check out Delhi Part 2, then join us in Agra to retrace family heritage and see the Taj Mahal!

Enjoy!

The Art of Ananya Banerjee - Mumbai, India
Premjit explores what inspires Ananya, a painter who resides in Mumbai.
Today we are meeting Ananya to discuss with her, about her paintings and her art. Ananya Banerjee is an accomplished painter. She has studied art in India, as well as other countries like England and Germany. Now, She lives in Mumbai. I am from Calcutta from Bengal. Last I remember is scribbling on the walls and my mom scolding me for that. So it started from the very childhood. My paintings are my inner world. So when I start a painting I really do not sketch them or do not plan them. It is more like a play for me. I dabble with all kinds of colors and let it be. Then I observe them and then forms start emerging out of these colors. I guess it is like my mood or my state of being or my mind like I do a lot of these human forms so it was always Vinci. Later on it was monies and wanes and you know Rembrandt. Back home there are Anjali and Hussain earlier work.
I first color it and kind of play with the color. So with this green and the blue here automatically the image of Shiva came into my mind. It is although not very definitive, but I placed the third eye and the thrishool and the moon. So it depicts the Shiva. It has a very calm and meditative quality about the painting as if they are deep into meditation and they are thriving to get into that forced state. There is an art district in Mumbai which is like the kala goda but nowadays lots of these new galleries are opening and one can really see interesting work of art. I am Premjit Singh showing you Mumbai.

Solo Show of Paintings By Vinod Sharma | Creative Art Gallery | Mindscapes | Uma Sharma | New Delhi
LCreative Art Gallery Presents 'Mindscapes' Solo show of Paintings By Vinod Sharma
Creative Art Gallery Presents 'Mindscapes' Solo show of Paintings By Vinod Sharma
New Delhi: Indian artist Vinod Sharma exhibition in India features works that lie somewhere between reality and fiction. He manipulates objects — whether it is accentuating a particular texture or shadow — to create surreal artworks.
After having a close look on his paintings, let me start with this quick question what he paints? One can answer this with great case that he is a fine landscapist or he is a painter of the polite interpretations of Landscape.
When we have Painters like Ramkumar or Ganesh Haloi who's work revolves around their earned melodies of landscapes whereas on the other hand painters like Paramjeet Singh or Surya Prakash, Who's work reflects various existential and realizable moods of the surrounding nature.
Here with such references, let me return and ratify my existing querry i.e. where Vinod sharma exists ? And his paintings are about rationalist's melody or a realist's memory?
This is a tangible truth that his paintings assess our memory, ravishes our senses, exaggerate our attention and forces us to recollect if they really exists on this Planet ‘? Afterall, in the eyes of a viewer, the realm of his landscape not only produces the path but also ravel the explicit possibilities of our reach in it.
Through his paintings, he mystifies the territory by adding the perplexities to its beauty and confines our memory; he not only dislocate us from the edge of our own confirmations but also relocates us in its accumulated shifting paradigms. It may crush our confidence and destroy our sense of experiences as this land actually does not exist anywhere. It is interesting to be lost in his labyrinths of no man’s land with the connotations of a land of no man, and a man of no land. The terrain which is not at all surrounded by any kind of man made encroachments.
Is it a site which is either waiting for the civilisation yet to emerge on its sphere or it is a purview where only the aftermath silence exists as an epilogue of its lost civilisation?

St+art India | Mumbai 2017 | Mahatma Gandhi Mural at Churchgate Station by Kobrastreetart
Get a look at Churchgate station like you have never seen it before with this aerial film, as we celebrate Mumbai's newest landmark - The Mahatma Gandhi mural painted by legendary artist @kobrastreetart at Churchgate station.
The Churchgate station has always been a landmark for the city of Mumbai, and now it will be one for the rest of the world as well. Made by the legendary artist @kobrastreetart as a continuation of his global project 'Olhares da Paz' ('Faces of peace’), he hopes the mural will convey a message of peace and harmony and encourage people to imbibe the values the Mahatma stood for - a person the entire world, and now every passersby at Churchgate station can look up to.
Churchgate being the first station of the Western Railway's suburban line is an extremely iconic one. Kobra has painted a beautiful picture of Mahatma Gandhi getting down from a train, an adaption of a photograph taken in the early 1940s’ by Kulwant Roy owned by Aditya Arya Archive and India Photo Archive (@indiaphotoarchive) and is symbolic of the impact that Gandhi ji and the railways have had on India's Independence. Mahatma Gandhi was de-boarded off a train in South Africa in 1893 after which he began his life long battle for civil liberty, respect and freedom. This mural is a tribute to his relentless dedication and the spirit for our independence and of the crucial role the Railways played in our freedom struggle. So the next time you are around this area, take a moment to appreciate Kobra's jaw dropping mural and Gandhiji's relentless efforts for our freedom.
A massive thanks to Western Railway for giving us this opportunity, and @asianpaints for enabling us to realise this iconic artwork. Shout out to Brazilian consulate in Mumbai.
A special thanks to The Aditya Arya Archive and @indiaphotoarchive for allowing us usage of this iconic image of Mahatma Gandhi, and to Western Railway and the Brazilian Consulate in Mumbai for supporting this project. And the biggest thanks to our constant pillar of support @asianpaints for their unquestionable support for our extremely ambitious vision and helping us realising such iconic projects.
