WE FLEW TO SRI LANKA TO EAT CRABS! ????????
#SriLanka #Colombo #Crabs
In this video we take you to the beautiful island of Sri Lanka.
We arrived into Bandaranaike International Airport from Kuala Lumpur onboard Sri Lankan Airlines. We were extremely lucky to be upgraded to Business Class seats, but sadly, the stewardess on board this aircraft prohibited us from uploading any footage of our flight experience.
For Day 1, we planned to not waste time and went ahead and made advance dinner arrangements to experience Sri Lanka's legendary lagoon crabs at their famous restaurant, Ministry of Crabs - which incidentally, happens to be named as one of the Top 50 restaurants in Asia.
Our verdict - The dinner here was AMAZING !!!

STORYLINE
A bomb hidden on the baggage rack of a packed, rush-hour bus exploded on Friday evening outside the Sri Lankan capital, Colombo, killing 24 people in an attack that the military blamed on Tamil Tiger rebels.
Ambulances with sirens wailing flooded a nearby hospital, where off-duty doctors and nurses ran in to help the 40 people who were wounded in the blast.
One hospital was so overwhelmed it had to divert some of the injured to a second medical centre.
Among the dead brought to the morgue was a Buddhist monk and a small child.
The bomb exploded about 6:45 p.m.(1:45pm GMT) at the bus depot in the town of Piliyandala just south of the capital, sending pieces of seats flying, according to witnesses.
The roof of the red public bus, which was about to depart for the nearby town of Kahapola, was torn apart and its windows, and those of nearby buildings, were shattered.
The bomb was hidden in a parcel on the overhead rack near the front of the bus, according to a military spokesman.
One man who was in another bus on the other side of the road and who helped the wounded from the bus blast, said it happened very quickly.
I didn't know what happened, We were going towards the Colombo side. I felt like everybody was thrown out here and there, he said.
All of us ran out of the bus, then I saw body pieces everywhere and smelt gun powder. After that we ran to the incident and took injured people out of the bus, he added.
The military spokesman blamed the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) for the attacks - however a rebel spokesman did not respond to calls seeking comment.
The Tamil Tigers routinely deny such attacks.
The rebels, blamed for scores of suicide bombings and other attacks on civilians, are listed as a terror group by the US, the European Union and India.
The rebels have fought since 1983 to create an independent homeland for minority Tamils, who have been marginalised by successive governments controlled by Sri Lanka's Sinhalese majority.
More than 70-thousand people have been killed in the violence.
The attack was the first major bombing since a suicide bomber killed 14 people, including a government minister and a former Olympian, at the start of a marathon on April 6.
The latest blast showed the rebels retain the ability to strike deep inside government territory despite a maze of security checkpoints around the capital and military efforts to crush the group.

Meemure | SriLanka | Travel VLOG #5
Meemure is a village with a population of about 400. It is located near the border between Kandy District and Matale District in the Knuckles Mountain Range. Meemure is one of the most remote villages in Sri Lanka with the only access via a 14 km (8.7 mi) trail from the town of Loolwatte. There is no cellular service available in the village, but a CDMA telephone service is available. There is no direct mail delivery to the village; a villager journeys each day to Thapal Junction to exchange incoming and outgoing postal mail with a postman.
Lakegala mountain is in Meemure village. Residents of the village depend on several staple crops including pepper, cardamom, paddy and ginger. The distance from Colombo capital to Meemure is about 175 km.
Route
Meemure is approximately a 7-hour drive from Colombo, in an off-road vehicle. The main route is via Kandy city which is 116 km away from Colombo. Then Kandy-Mahiyangana Road (A26) towards to Mahiyangana. Turn to Left from Hunnasgiriya Junction which is 35 km away from Kandy. Then go towards the Loolwatte Village which is 15 km away from Hunnasgiriya Junction. Then from Loolwatte it is about another 15 km to the Meemure Village. Rail Hike From Ohiya to Idalgashinna
The hike's incredibly straightforward, really. Nothing to climb or stumble over, just follow the rail tracks until you hit the Ohiya Station some 9 kms away. Yes, that's a bit of a long walk, and yes, it takes all of three hours. However, you're walking in near-complete isolation, with nothing but acres and acres of pine and eucalyptus forests around you, with the occasional shrubs peppering the way.
You also get the excitement of walking through 14 tunnels, in which you can hear the bats clickety-clacketting above you, and where the walls are slimy and damp and moist. You need to keep an ear out for incoming trains, because if you're caught in the tunnel when one's coming you need to scoot into one of the manholes in the walls of the tunnel (if you can find one), or turn around and run as fast as you can back out.

STORYLINE:
Suspected Tamil rebels posing as fishermen blew up two of their boats in a suicide ambush on a naval base on Wednesday, killing at least one sailor in the first such attack on Sri Lanka's southern coast, the military said.
Two sailors were also missing and at least 12 others wounded in the attack in the resort town of Galle, while two navy fast boats and another small boat suffered damage, a Defence Ministry spokesman said, adding that 14 civilians were also wounded.
The suspected Tamil Tiger rebels blew up two of their boats after entering the harbour area posing as fishermen, while the navy destroyed the remaining three boats, the spokesman said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
All the rebels were killed, but it was not immediately clear how many there had been aboard the boats, he said.
The rebels did not make any immediate comment, but the pro-rebel TamilNet Web site reported that a 15-member rebel attack team had entered Galle harbour in five boats and that three boats exploded.
Police imposed an open-ended curfew in Galle, and an Associated Press reporter there said the town was calm but under heavy security.
Hours after the attack, the military launched airstrikes on Tamil Tiger targets in eastern Batticaloa.
The Tigers said in a statement that the air force attack on rebel-controlled areas killed one civilian and wounded two others, including a 10-year-old boy.
The suicide bombing in Galle could signal a major shift for the Tamil Tiger rebels, whose decades-long campaign for a separate homeland for
minority ethnic Tamils has largely focused on Sri Lanka's north and east, which they claim as their cultural heartland.
It also could be a major blow to Sri Lanka's tourism industry, with peak season about to begin in Galle and its nearby beaches, a major draw for
travellers.
Galle, 110 kilometres (70 miles) south of the capital, Colombo, is also the site of Sri Lanka's main southern naval port.
The attack also was expected to further damage peace efforts ahead of scheduled talks between the government and rebels starting October 28 in
Switzerland.
It was the second attack on the navy this week.
Despite the latest fighting, the government and rebels both said they would go ahead with the talks.
The Tamil Tigers have been fighting since 1983 for a separate homeland for the Tamil minority in the north and east, citing decades of discrimination by the majority Sinhalese.
About 65-thousand people were killed before the 2002 cease-fire.

STORYLINE
Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakshe paid his respects to the assassinated foreign minister Lakshman Kadirgamar after his coffin was taken to his official residence in Colombo.
Officials said the late foreign minister's body would be kept at his residence from Saturday evening for public viewing until Monday, when he was to be publicly cremated with state honours.
Sri Lanka declared a state of emergency and soldiers searched homes and vehicles in Colombo for suspects Saturday following the shooting of the country's foreign minister on Friday, which put the island's fragile peace process at risk.
At least seven people were detained over the killing.
The government said Saturday it had not taken any action that would violate the cease-fire with the Tamil Tiger rebels, whom the military blames for the fatal attack on 73-year-old foreign minister.
The Tigers deny any role in the killing.
Kadirgamar, an Oxford-educated lawyer and an ethnic Tamil who led efforts to ban the Tigers as a terrorist organisation but later backed peace efforts, was shot in the head and chest at about 11pm on Friday and died in the National Hospital in Colombo, after midnight.
The Tigers began fighting in 1983 for a separate homeland for ethnic Tamils, claiming discrimination by the majority Sinhalese.
The conflict killed nearly 65,000 people before a Norwegian-brokered cease-fire in 2002.
Troops took up positions around the capital, Colombo, and a military spokesman said the military was checking all vehicles coming in and out of the city.
Police said Kadirgamar was killed by two snipers who hid in a building near his heavily guarded home in Colombo's diplomatic district and fired through a ventilation hole in an upper floor.
He was shot while emerging from his swimming pool.
Kadirgamar was appointed foreign minister in April 2004. He also held the position from 1994 to 2001.
