Fervour marks Independence Day celebrations in Pondicherry
Will overcome all obstacles, fulfil all promises, says CM
Impressive show: Chief Minister V.Narayanasamy inspects the guard of honour during the 70th Independence Day celebrations at the Uppalam Ground on Tuesday.
Delivering Independence Day address, Mr. Narayanasamy said the government will strive hard to bring all round development to the Union Territory
Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Tuesday said his government would overcome all obstacles and fulfil all promises made to the electorate.
Delivering his Independence Day message after inspecting an impressive guard of honour at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, he listed the various measures taken to bring all round development to the Union Territory and improve the financial situation.
As planned, the port here would be developed as a satellite port of Chennai Port Trust. The port project was taken up to provide more job opportunities to the youth and bring additional revenue to the exchequer, the Chief Minister said.
Alongside the new rail between Cuddalore and Puducherry, a 100 feet road would be laid, Mr. Narayanasamy said.
As many as 587 patients had benefitted from the government’s financial assistance scheme.
The government had spent Rs. 5.77 crore for providing specialised treatment in multi-speciality hospitals to people belonging to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.
Mr. Narayanasamy said, Puducherry, Karaikal and Yanam regions would be declared Open Defecation Free next year. Mahe region had already been declared open defecation free.
Twenty lakes and 32 ponds were being rejuvenated at a cost of Rs. 16.76 crore, he said.
The rejuvenation work was taken up with assistance from the Union Government and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development.
Social Welfare Minister M. Kandasamy, Revenue Minister M.O.H.F. Shahjahan, Government whip R.K.R. Anantharaman, Congress legislators, former MPs, MLAs and senior officials attended the celebrations.
Reception at Raj Nivas
Mr. Narayanasamy later attended a reception hosted by Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi at Raj Nivas. Coming face to face after a long time, Mr. Narayanasamy and Ms. Bedi exchanged pleasantries. He left after a few minutes.
Apart from Chief Secretary Manoj Parida, none from the ruling establishment turned up for the reception.

PONDICHERRY VLOG | Travel Guide and Budget | Things to do in Pondicherry | Places to Visit & Eat
Hey guys, here is my travel vlog of Pondicherry. This was the first time I visited Pondicherry and managed to complete this trip of 5 days within Rs. 10000 for 2 people, me and my mom, including home stays, food, bike, petrol, tickets and many more.
Here is the detailed information of my trip to Pondicherry:

How to reach Pondicherry :
1. Book a cab from Chennai Airport to Koembedu Bus Stop.
2. Take a bus from Koembedu to Indira Gandhi Statue, Pondicherry.
3. Take an auto from Indira Gandhi Statue to White Town (Fixed rates : Rs. 150)
Stay in Pondicherry :
1. There are hotels near Rock beach or home stays in White Town. Home stays are better options than hotels because of homely environment. You can book home stays from Airbnb in cheaper prices. I got a best deal of Villa Meena from Airbnb.
How to travel within Pondicherry City :
1. Rent a bike. Any Govt. id proof is needed.
2. Take autos but this will be very expensive because Autowalas ask in hundreds for few killometers. You will need a lot of money.
3. Only Ola cabs are available there but due to the dominant behaviour of Autowalas you will end up riding an auto.
Things to do in Pondicherry :
1. See sunset or sunrise at Rock beach.
2. Visit Paradise Island. The sand of this island is super soft and the beach is very clean. You will end up lying on the beach for longer time due to the beauty of this beach.
3. Surfing at Serenity beach.
4. Book an appointment for meditation session at visitor center in Auroville and get an amazing experience of it.
5. Roam around Auroville, talk to its residents and get to know about the beauty of this city.
6. Explore cafés, restaurants and street foods.
Best food points in Pondicherry :
1. Suruguru Spot which is famous for South Indian veg food.
2. Kamatchi Biryani Veedu which is famous for Non veg South Indian food.
3. A La Villa Creole which is famous for sea food in French style.
Best things about Pondicherry :
1. People are very sweet and helping. Few of them can speak in Hindi also otherwise English is our saviour language.
2. Food is amazing especially South Indian veg and sea food. The taste of food that I had in Pondicherry remained alive.
3. Surfing was my best experience. I had a lot of fun.
4. Beaches are very clean to play in water and and to chill out with cool breez in the evenings.
