HALONG BAY TOUR | Day Trip Cruise from Hanoi 2019
Day 32- Took a Halong bay 1 day tour cruise from Hanoi, Vietnam. We booked a 1 day trip with Dragon King Cruises and it was an amazing experience. The cruise we booked was among one of the cheapest and highest rated for the experience.
We found it at a travel agency in Hanoi and it fit all of our needs and budget. We were able to go from Hanoi to Halong Bay and experience a lot of what Halong Bay had to offer for only 35$, in my opinion that is a steal because Ha Long Bay is on of the most beautiful places in the world.
We did many activities in the tour among some of my favorites which were kayaking an underwater cave, exploring sung sot cave, and hiking titop island for some amazing views atop a mountain. Overall really great experience and one of my favorite days in Vietnam.

Southeast Asia | 20 Day Itinerary: Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam
Full recommended two week itinerary (I highly recommend this after my trip!)
TOP TRAVEL TIPS:
PHI PHI ISLANDS:
*Phi Phi Island are a must, and if you like to party, Captain Bob's is also a must:
*To get to Phi Phi Islands, take a taxi to any of the easter harbors in Phuket, several boats will get you to Phi Phi Islands.
FULL MOON PARTY:
*Full Moon Party Info (get your reservation in early, and buy a white tank top, then have fun!)
*To get to the full moon party, take a flight to Ko Samui, when you get off the flight book a taxi and ferry ride to Haad Rin
*If you are short on time, SKIP northern Thailand! If you have time, then spend time hiking and exploring up there.
BANGKOK:
*Spend minimal time in Bangkok, but do not miss Wat Arun, The Grand Palace, and book a tour to see the famous floating market and the train market:
SIEM REAP:
*Siem Reap is a fun town to stay in with Pub Street which includes lots of bars and restaurants
*Angkor Wat is not to be rushed! You need atleast two full days, and if you're really into it, I would go atleast three days.
HALONG BAY:
*Hanoi is a pretty crazy city, so just know that going in!
*For a fun party cruise with great accomodations, I would recommend Oasis Bay Party Cruise:
-The cruise comes with Transportation from Hanoi, food, a great suit, and some drinks, kayaking, jumping off the boat, and beer yoga. Plus several hot tubs and we had a great group with us.

INDOCHINA DAY 1: Vietnam Halong Bay Tour
INDOCHINA DAY 1: Vietnam Halong Bay Tour
Kicked off this 12-day tour of the Indochina region at the majestic Ha Long Bay at Hanoi, Vietnam!
__________
• House at 0:22 is our airbnb - an ig-worthy 3-bedroom apartment that costs less than Php250/night per person! Best value-for-money bnb I've seen!
• The Bay is around 3 hours away from Hanoi town proper, but the limestone islands and caves were worth it
• Kind of reminiscent of Coron, but of course Coron's rock formations and crystal clear waters are even more amazing :)
Halong Bay Luxury Cruise | Signature Cruise
This Halong Bay Luxury Cruise was made possible by:
If you’ve never been to Halong Bay, you need to add taking a luxury cruise through Halong Bay to your bucket list! Halong Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a good reason. It is one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen! It’s filled with giant lime stone karsts that jut out of the water in every direction for miles.
The best way to experience the bay is by a luxury cruise. There are tons of cruise ship operators offering cruises through Halong Bay. The cruises range from cheap backpack boats to five start luxury cruise ships. Since visiting Halong Bay is most likely a once in a lifetime experience, we decided to splurge on a 5 star luxury cruise to ensure that we had the best experience possible!
We booked our cruise with Signature Cruise and we were elated with our experience. Seriously, we don’t have a bad thing to say about Signature Cruises, and that should mean a lot coming from me because when I splurge on an experience I am very critical. Also, the staff treated us like royalty! They made our experience even better.
Our luxurious cruise through Halong Bay started with an amazing lunch served while we were cruising to a floating fishing village. After arriving at the floating village we were rowed around the village in a row boat by one of the women who lived in the floating village. After our row boat ride was completed, we visited a pearl farm to learn how pearls are made. To be completely honest, this sounded kind of lame to me when I read it on the itinerary, but it was actually really interesting!
After leaving the pearl farm, we were taken back to the cruise ship. After an hour or so of relaxing and taking in the beautiful views of Halong Bay, we had a cooking class where we learned to make fresh spring rolls. After the cooking class we enjoyed happy hour with more beautiful views. After happy hour, a delicious five course dinner was served aboard the boat. After dinner I had the opportunity to try my hand at squid fishing. I got really lucky and managed to catch 10!

VIETNAM | Exploring Halong Bay & Cát Bà | Private Boat Tour
During our Vietnam adventures we discovered a private boat tour of Halong bay and the Cát Bà area. This was by far one of the highlights of our Vietnam travels not only because we had the boat all to ourselves but because we could go to all the quieter serene spots in the area, cycle around peaceful villages but chill out all together in this absolutely stunning scenery and calm waters.
We discovered the private (and affordable) tour through a friend and between 4 people it ended up being a lot cheaper than the same number of nights on the busier cruises in the main part of Halong bay and we personalized the trip with kayaking and cycling through a village:

Halong Bay Cruise: Don't Book WRONG Overnight Tour (Choose Luxury!)
Hello Adventurers,
There are tons of options out there. Some are simply day tours of the bay, and some are overnight. Our Halong Bay Cruise from Hanoi was pretty darn exciting.
After having done it our self, we can promise that the best way to do a Halong Bay tour is the overnight experience, whether it's a signature cruise or a budget cruise or a luxury boat, just make sure you spend at least one night on the bay!
Why, you ask, should you spend a night on the bay? Because you get to see the awesome sunset and then the sunrise the next day. You'll probably get to go sea kayaking in the bay without tons of other tourists around.
Your company will probably take you to an island to enjoy a beach and maybe even explore a cave. There's so much to do and see on the bay that a day trip just won't do it justice.
Now, for the sticky part - if you book a larger cruise boat, you're going to have a much different experience than a small boat. The small boats are intimate, calm and peaceful. The large boats are essentially parties, with people really not caring too much about the bay and focusing on I'm on a boat type of stuff.
But it's your choice, and maybe you want that?
Regardless, we definitely recommend this experience - it was one of our favorite landscapes to ever behold.
- Jimmy & Maggie
P.S. We used Indochina Junk, and recommend them. Ballpark price of Halong Bay Cruise with them is about $215, and that's for the luxury cruise (a fantastic deal in our opinion!), with a pick up from Hanoi (or somewhere similar) in a luxury van, I mean, really, awesome deal!

Culture in Vietnam
Vietnamese culture is heavily influenced by a long history of rice cultivation. A warm and rainy climate provides the suitable atmosphere for wet rice paddies in a country laced with rivers and bordered by the East Sea. Vietnam has also been widely influenced by surrounding cultures in Southeast Asia, as well as by India and China. Although relatively small in size, Vietnam is ethnically and culturally diverse, with a number of different dialects varying according to region, and distinct local specialties in every village. The Vietnamese character is often remarked upon for its subtlety and grace, in a nation that has learned to both embrace its own unique culture heritage while blending with the benefits of the modern era.
Nature in Vietnam
From the mist-capped mountains along the Chinese border, to the rushing waters of Mekong River Delta and the dense jungles and wet rice-paddy valleys throughout the length of the country, Vietnam's natural landscape is nothing short of breathtaking to foreign eye. Species of flora and fauna inhabiting Vietnam number in the hundreds, including elephants, bears, monkeys, sea and fresh water turtles, buffalo, and countless exotic birds. Winters are light in the North, chilly in the moutains, and nonexistent in the South. Depending on the season of travel, visitors are sure to find a climate that suits them most.
Festivals in Vietnam
Among the holidays, Tet is generally the most widely celebrated, over a length of one to three weeks. Days of dancing, singing, and eating across the country mark a period of pure festivity anticipated eagerly by all throughout the year.
The variety of both local and national festivals in Vietnam, conveniently allows tourists to take part in at least one or two during their stay. Day to day customs must also be considered among the country's festivals. Incense is lit and fruit and wine symbolically offered to family ancestors on the opening and mid days of each lunar calendar month.
Anniversary of deaths are celebrated with equal significance an birthdays, where friends and families can gather to reminisce and pay their respects.
Weddings often last one to three days and mark one of the principal stages in both a man and a woman's life. Eating and singing take place during weddings among families both wealthy and poor, and brides are dressed in both traditional garments and Western white gowns.
