Innes National Park, Moonta & the Yorke Peninsula: S02 South Australia E07 Lap of Australia
We continued on our lap of Australia, heading down the Yorke Peninsula post our stay in Adelaide and Port Adelaide. 'Yorkes' as it is known to the locals, provides stunning views, beaches and fishing fun. It was a great chance to check out our new fishing equipment, plus learn some skills from a professional on a fishing charter.
Browns Beach Salmon Fishing - Innes National Park, South Australia
Thought I would try and throw together some dodgy footage from the first time I'd ever strapped a GoPro to my melon - lure-catching a few Australian salmon at the iconic Browns Beach location, at the tip of Innes National Park, South Australia. The dodginess of the footage helps to convey the whole 'experience'.
As always, MA15+ with a few F-bombs thrown into the mix. Enjoy!

Yorke Peninsula - Episode 29
Our time on the YORKE Peninsula! ????????????
⭐️Beautiful beaches around every corner.
First stop on the Yorke was Port Germein, although the weather wasn’t the best, we took the time to walk out, along the historic jetty. The largest wooden jetty in the southern hemisphere (apparently?!) ⛵️
We decided our first night would be at the Port Pirie Beach Caravan Park. The park was quiet and the manager gave us a great spot overlooking onto the river.????????Had a look around town before heading off the next day.
Next stop was Port Broughton for a look and lunch stop. We had a squizz up at Fishermans bay ????, which is pretty much a small sleepy fishing village, filled with tiny houses / shacks. The waterfront parks at Port Broughton, were really nice. We relaxed on the green grass for ages soaking in the sun and serenity. ☀️
The following day, we skipped into Wallaroo and Moonta for a look, before heading down to our next spot ‘Tiparra Rocks’. ????This was a council permit camp – only $10 a night per vehicle, no facilities but it was in a great location. Despite the wikicamps comments we easily managed to get our caravan in and set up. ????????♂️
From there we headed to flatherty beach for an afternoon swim ????????♀️. Wow! We were blown away with its beauty. This beach is amazing and even better we had it all to ourselves for the afternoon. Checkout our pictures ????, the water was so blue, the sand was so white and the tide went out quite far so plenty of pools to splash around in. ???? Rusty loved it. Once we were all knackered out we headed 5 minutes down the road to Warooka to set up camp for the night. Another great overnighter and donation left. ????????
Kurt was craving some prawns, so the next day we stopped in to the ‘Inland Sea Restaurant’ and grabbed a few kilos. Great prawns ????, very fresh and at a great price. The place was quite busy so we knew they would be good. We then head to Corny Point, for a look, in particular the light house ⚓️. Not far from the lighthouse we found another beautiful secluded beach. Only a short walk down to the sand and we were in awe of this place. ????
We then headed to Daly heads for our next camp spot, another council permit site. Great spot for an overnighter! There is a massive staircase which lead down to the beach. Its a popular spot for surfers ????????♀️???????? as the conditions and waves are ideal. Lots of shinnleback lizards around the place, so keep an eye out for em.
Marion Bay was our next stop. We had pre booked ourselves into the Marion Bay Caravan Park over the xmas break so we had somewhere to stay. ????We had daily walks around penguin point and even dined at the tavern down the road. They are super pet friendly and even have a fenced area you can leave your dog ????while you eat inside.
We did a day trip into Innes National Park and oh my god, what a beautiful place that is! ????The beaches are ridiculous! I can see why people rave about this place. We loved checking out each walk / beach / sight throughout the park. The only bad thing was, when we went to check out the Inneston Historic town, we both got attacked by dozens of marsh flies. ????I think we lasted 10 minutes then ran (sprinter) back to the car. Was quiet funny at the time, but disappointed we didn’t get to see the historic town.
[ For those wondering, Rusty ???? was happily napping in our van while we explored. Air conditioning and all - lucky dog! ]
We made it to Port Vincent, for lunch and got some fish and chips – this place was bustling with families. A very popular spot with the sheltered beach. Continuing to track up the coast????, we made it to Ardrossan - RV free camp for the night. It was a quiet spot for the night and only a short stroll to the beach and main esplanade.
So overall the Yorke Peninsula did not disappoint. Plenty of great spots to stop and see. We believed;
- the west side of the yorke, had better council permit camp spots, compared to the east side. ????
- Innes national park is a no brainer – definitely check that place out. ????
- The weather was definitely warming up☀️ hence, why we visited a few more caravan parks than usual. Sometimes you just have to splurge out, and
- considering it was in ‘peak time’ we got in everywhere we wanted and all at reasonable prices. ????????

Innes National Park is on the southwest tip of Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, 300 kilometres west of the Adelaide city centre.
A great way to discover Innes National Park is bushwalking the many trails, ranging from 30-minute strolls to four-hour treks.
You’ll spot an abundance of birds and animals while you catch some of the best coastal views in South Australia. Also is a favourite destination for camping, fishing and surfing.
All of the park is accessible by 2WD vehicles, so it’s perfect for day visits and a paradise for beach lovers.
There is something for everyone at Innes National Park. By taking a stroll from your campsite, visiting one of the lighthouses and shipwrecks or learning about the tumultuous maritime history of South Australia.

COORONG NATIONAL PARK | SOUTH AUSTRALIA | 4x4 Adventure
Amazing part of SA at the mouth of the River Murray. Great for fishing and famous for fresh Coorong Mullet. Many camp sites are accessible by 2WD cars so don't let that hold you back, but if you have a 4WD then it adds another dimension. Tip: take the time to read the warnings on the National Parks website and get familiar with the conditions. Sand dunes are dynamic so conditions change constantly. If four wheel driving, lower your tyre pressures when dune or beach driving to get better traction.

Camping at Innes National Park
Three months into married life and no time for a proper honeymoon yet. A mini-getaway as husband and wife was due, so we decided to spend 3 days experiencing South Australia's outdoors at the beautiful Innes National Park, Yorke Peninsula. Here's some amateur footage shot with my trusty point and shoot camera to capture our long weekend away with nature!
Malleefowl at Innes National Park, South Australia
The Malleefowl is a large native Australian bird - larger than a domestic chicken. They are in declining numbers across Australia due to predation by feral foxes, and habitat destruction. They are faring well at Innes National Park in South Australia, where there is an intensive fox control program. Here is a close-up of one digging around for food. They are a rare sight in the wild.
