Kimberley Strassel | The Resurgence of Socialism Today
The idea of socialism is ancient. Organized socialist movements took form in Europe in the nineteenth century, and socialism emerged as a dominant political ideology in many places around the world by the twentieth century. This second CCA of the 2019-2020 academic year, co-sponsored by the Ludwig von Mises Lecture Series, will consider socialism, its practice over time, and its resurgence today.
Kimberley Strassel writes the weekly “Potomac Watch” column for The Wall Street Journal, where she is also a member of the editorial board. A graduate of Princeton University, her previous positions at the Journal include news assistant in Brussels, internet reporter in London, commercial real estate reporter in New York, columnist for OpinionJournal.com, and senior editorial page writer. She is a regular contributor to Sunday morning political programs, including Face the Nation and Meet the Press. In 2013, she was a Eugene C. Pulliam Distinguished Visiting Fellow in Journalism at Hillsdale College, and in 2014 she was a recipient of the Bradley Prize. She is the author of The Intimidation Game: How the Left Is Silencing Free Speech and, most recently, Resistance (At All Costs): How Trump Haters Are Breaking America.
10 Most Important Cities in the World
Ever since Adam Smith wrote Wealth of Nations, we’ve understood that sovereign states are where it’s at, both economically and politically. Or have we? The 21st Century has seen the world’s most economically-active cities overtake countries so fast that nations are eating their dust. New York alone has an economy bigger than Canada. Osaka ranks higher than Switzerland. Paris could comfortably buy out South Africa and still have some spare change. After falling out of fashion, will city states once again be our future?

Most AMAZINGLY Beautiful Places In America!
Top most stunningly beautiful places in America! Check out the best places and most amazingly beautiful places in America as well as all of the best places to visit in America!
7. Carlsbad Cavern
This amazing cave is located in New Mexico in Carlsbad Caverns National Park. One of the cavern’s most renowned areas is its giant limestone chamber, also called the “Big Room”; it is about 4,000 feet long, 625 feet wide, and 255 feet tall. It is North America’s fifth and the world’s 28th largest chamber. One of the cavern’s most renowned details are the alien-like speleothems, or cave formations, that hang from its ceiling and ceaselessly grow due to water drizzling through the limestone. Some of them also rise from the floor, meaning the entire cave is decorated with strange, organic structures. Adding to the natural allure of this place are the lights that people have installed for effortless viewing of Carlsbad Cavern’s many rooms and formations. The lamps glow in various colors, giving the cave an even more surreal appearance. While enjoying a guided tour of the cavern, visitors can experience a light show at the end that truly illuminates all of the beauty this wonder has to offer.
6. Watkins Glen
This state park is located in the Finger Lakes area of New York. Perhaps the most eye-catching detail of Watkins Glen is a gorge that is about 400 feet deep; it was formed by Glen Creek when glaciers from the Ice Age sank further into the valley causing the stream to become steeper. This created more rapid waters and cascades. There are numerous waterfalls within this area of the park, including the Central Cascade, Cavern Cascade, and Rainbow Falls, which is considered one of the most captivating; it descends beneath the Rainbow Bridge over varying steps of jagged rock, flowing into the pool below. However, this entire area of Watkins Glen State Park is beautiful. Green vegetation grows within the crevices of stone, and running water adds to its dreamlike ambiance. There is a trail that allows people to walk through the gorge with ease and enjoy the scenery throughout this remarkable place.
BETTINA WERNER, The Salt Queen's 8 Heart Beats- LOVE Art Preview www.bettina-werner.com
FOR INQUIRIES: thesaltqueenfoundation@gmail.com
Bettina Werner's newly created and breathtaking Love Art Collection 2010 is a dazzling innovative series of her unique radiant salt paintings, rich with passion, cresting as a huge wave which embraces her ever-expanding imagination.
These very special creations, while they are petite in size, represent a monumental theme in Bettina Werner's artistic evolution. They are the harbinger towards the new upcoming Golden Age, that has been discussed widely in the spiritual world, and which is essentially all about Love.
Bettina Werner, The Queen of Salt is an internationally critically acclaimed artist, who exclusively utilizes SALT as an artistic medium to create her innovative artworks.
Born in Milan, Italy in 1965, she is now residing in The Financial District of New York City, where she is contributing to a new beginning with the cathartic power of her one -of -a- kind salt artworks. She is a driving force in Lower Manhattan with her radiant, unique artwork. Her loft faces the New York Stock Exchange, in the newly renovated Philippe Starck Building.
The Title Queen of Salt refers to her pioneering and revolutionary use of salt in art creating paintings, sculptures and installations with her invention of textured colorized salt technique, developed in the early 1980's.
While studying at the prestigious Brera Academy of Fine Art in Milan and discovering salt to be her own treasure, Bettina Werner began creating combinations of textures and colors with salt crystals.
She became intrigued by the history of salt starting in ancient times, its wonderful texture, its transparency, its radiance, its healing power, its important value and use as currency. She was fascinated by its philosophic meaning, its power in the immense force of the sea and in the chemistry of our human bodies.
Bettina Werner creates a majesty with crystals of salt making it a distinguished unique signature of artistic language.
Her success in revering salt in vibrant colors led Bettina Werner to the U.S. in 1989. One year later she started showing her artwork with Marisa Del Re Gallery in the Fuller Building, located on 57th Street and Madison Avenue in Manhattan.
She celebrated her 25th anniversary of her creative Art journey, with a Retrospective at 7 WORLD TRADE CENTER in New York City. View the spectacular slideshow of the Art Exhibition here:
Bettina Werner's artwork has been exhibited in Museums, galleries and public spaces extensively throughout Europe, Russia and the United States, including: the Whitney Museum, the Pushkin Museum in Moscow, the Detroit Institute of Art, Portofino Museum, Italy, Triennale Museum in Milan, Las Vegas Art Museum, Chase Manhattan Bank, the collection of Herbert and Dorothy Vogel , the collection of Martin Margulies of Miami and Nicos Vernicos of Athens, Greece.
In New York in 2002, she founded The Salt Queen Foundation,a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational institution, its goals include the celebration of artists whose free imagination is uniquely expressed through the use of innovative techniques and unusual materials.

When is Thanksgiving? Colonizing America: Crash Course US History #2
In which John Green teaches you about the (English) colonies in what is now the United States. He covers the first permanent English colony at Jamestown, Virginia, the various theocracies in Massachusetts, the feudal kingdom in Maryland, and even a bit about the spooky lost colony at Roanoke Island. What were the English doing in America, anyway? Lots of stuff. In Virginia, the colonists were largely there to make money. In Maryland, the idea was to create a a colony for Catholics who wanted to be serfs of the Lords Baltimore. In Massachusetts, the Pilgrims and Puritans came to America to find a place where they could freely persecute those who didn't share their beliefs. But there was a healthy profit motive in Massachusetts as well. Profits were thin at first, and so were the colonists. Trouble growing food and trouble with the natives kept the early colonies from success. Before long though, the colonists started cultivating tobacco, which was a win for everyone involved if you ignore the lung cancer angle. So kick back, light up a smoke, and learn how America became profitable. DON'T SMOKE, THOUGH! THAT WAS A JOKE!

Jonathan Cahn - 2 times 7 Cows appeared in America like in Pharaoh s Egypt
Jonathan Cahn is a Messianic Jewish Rabbi and pastor best known for his best
selling novel The Harbinger, in which he compares the United States and the
September 11 attacks to ancient Israel and the destruction of the Kingdom of Israel.
In particular, he sees Isaiah 9:10 as a prophetic warning to the United States.
The Harbinger was followed with The Harbinger Companion: With Study Guide.
Born in New York State, Cahn was raised in a reform Jewish home and attended the
synagogue frequently. He became an atheist when he was eight years old but a few
years later he began to question atheism. By the time he was 20 years old he
had become a Messianic Jew, accepting Jesus as the Messiah after almost being killed

Top 10 HORRIFYING Mental ASYLUMS in the United States
Despite their original benevolent intent, mental asylums have become synonymous with abuse and malpractice. For one, the practice of lobotomy originates in the world of psychotherapy and institutionalization. Egas Moniz performed the first lobotomy in Portugal in 1935 and it was soon after adapted by American physicians Walter Freeman and James W. Watts, who popularized the operation. From 1949 to 1951, the amount of lobotomies grew from 5,074 to 18,608 people. John F. Kennedy’s sister is one of the many who were victims of the controversial procedure.
