There is a huge ship anchored in Manhattan's west pier with the Hudson River. It is a museum made with a retired aircraft carrier. If the skyscrapers show America's prosperity, the aircraft carrier is a symbol of military power. The aircraft carrier is the Intrepid, which has been in operation for about 30 years since 1943. There are various kinds of airplanes on the deck. Many people watch with curious eyes. During the Second World War, when this boat was the flagship of the maneuvers, there would have been a battle plan against the Japanese forces in the Pacific. This is the only place where an aircraft carrier is made a museum and released to the public. I went up to where the captain of the aircraft carrier worked. It is the most popular place. Now the Navy is working with a joystick. But still, there is still a wheel. One letter size is human. It was a ship where 3,600 crew members worked. In order to anchor this huge ship, one of the rings needed an anchor line for the car wheels. The screw that moves the ship is about twice the height of the person. In the narrow hangar of the aircraft carrier, various types of fighters who were active during World War II were folded and exhibited. The aircraft carrier had about 100 fighters. The Intrepid aircraft carrier has become a tourist attraction with more than one million visitors a year.

Best New York City Helicopter Tours: Statue of Liberty - Central Park -Intrepid Aircraft Carrier!!!!
Best New York City Helicopter Tours: Statue of Liberty - Central Park -Intrepid Aircraft Carrier!!!! -LEARN TO FLY - GET YOUR WINGS:
Watch this passenger view of an aerial helicopter tour of New York. As we air taxi to leave you get to see a gorgeous JetRanger land on the pier. We start out with a great view of a ferry and various other boats. Next you can see an octagonal white building out in the water. This vent building which is one of four ventilation buildings housing dozens of giant fans is responsible for pulling vehicle emissions out and pumping fresh air into the tunnel every 90 seconds. In addition to the Governor’s Island vent building, there are two in Manhattan – a small building in Battery Park and another across the street, which was featured in the Men In Black movies. The fourth building is in Brooklyn near the entrance to the tunnel.
The next pass is of Lady Liberty The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the United States and is recognized as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886. It was designated as a National Monument in 1924. Employees of the National Park Service have been caring for the colossal copper statue since 1933.
Then you get to see the Intrepid Air Craft Carrier - Intrepid was decommissioned in 1974. Today, Intrepid is berthed on the Hudson River as the centerpiece of the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. From the Intrepid the camera pans up to get a view of the very vast Central Park. Central Park is an urban park in middle-upper Manhattan, New York City. Central Park is the most visited urban park in the United States as well as one of the most filmed locations in the world.
It opened in 1857 on 778 acres (315 ha) of city-owned land. In 1858, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, two soon-to-be famed national landscapers and architects, won a design competition to improve and expand the park with a plan they titled the Greensward Plan. Construction began the same year, continued during the American Civil War further south, and was expanded to its current size of 843 acres (341 ha) in 1873.
Then you get a good shot of the partially completed One World Trade Center. View from the top of the world: One World Trade Center becomes New York's tallest skyscraper. One World Trade Center, the giant monolith being built to replace the twin towers destroyed in the September 11 attacks, lays claim to the title of New York City's tallest skyscraper.
As the tour ends we can see three helicopters already on the helipad pier with two still turning their blades. We hope you enjoyed this helicopter view of New York! Thanks for watching!

New York Harbor tour, part 7: West Side piers; Intrepid Sea, Air, & Space Museum
The seventh in a series of videos from an evening cruise around New York Harbor and up the Hudson River aboard a New York Water Taxi boat, sponsored by the Working Harbor Committee.
As our boat continues north up the North River (aka Hudson River), we pass the West Side piers of midtown Manhattan. First we see the 39th Street ferry terminal (aka Pier 79), used by NY Waterway ferries that ply the river carrying passengers between Manhattan and the towns of Weehawken and Hoboken in New Jersey. An air shaft for the Lincoln Tunnel looms above the ferry terminal. Next, we come to Pier 83, base of operations for the popular sightseeing boats of the Circle Line.
The piers in this part of the New York City waterfront were once known as Ocean Liner Row, and in the 1950s and into the 1960s were home to the great liners of the French Line, United States Lines, Cunard, and others. Pier 86 is now home to the Intrepid Air, Sea, and Space Museum; the now decommissioned aircraft carrier USS Intrepid served from World War II through the Vietnam War. Pier 88 and Pier 90 have been refurbished and now, together, form the Manhattan Passenger Ship Terminal, providing berths for modern cruise ships.
As Bill Miller and John Doswell point out in their on-board commentary, in 1942 the great French ocean liner Normandie caught fire and capsized at Pier 88 while being converted to a troop ship.
Video shot on the evening of June 11, 2013.

Tom, Trevor, and Brian wonder off the map (literally) on their New York City Trip and find themselves on the shores of the state. Here they have found the USS Intrepid and are pretty pleased with their discovery.
NASA Transports Space Shuttle Enterprise to New York
On Friday, April 27 Enterprise, the first NASA space shuttle was transported atop a 747 Shuttle Carrier Aircraft from Dulles International Airport, near Washington, D.C. to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport. Enterprise eventually will be displayed at New York's Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum. Though Enterprise, the first space shuttle orbiter never flew in space, it was crucial to the Space Shuttle Program because its series of approach and landing tests in 1977 proved the orbiter could fly in the atmosphere and land like an airplane, except without power -- like a glider. Includes footage of Enterprise on the ground at Dulles and takeoff from Dulles.

New York City Travel Guide - Welcome to New York
New York City Travel Guide - Welcome to New York
New York City is the most populous city in the United States. It lies at the mouth of the Hudson River in the southernmost part of the state, which is part of the Mid-Atlantic region of the U.S. New York City is a center for media, culture, food, fashion, art, research, finance, and trade. It has one of the largest and most famous skylines on earth, dominated by the iconic Empire State Building.
New York City consists of five boroughs, which are five separate counties. Each borough has a unique culture and could be a large city in its own right. Within each borough individual neighborhoods, some several square miles in size, and others only a few blocks in size, have personalities lauded in music and film. Where you live, work, and play in New York says something to New Yorkers about who you are. The five New York boroughs are:
Manhattan: The famous island between the Hudson and East Rivers, with many diverse and unique neighborhoods. Manhattan is home to the Empire State Building in Midtown, Central Park, Times Square, Wall Street, Harlem, and the trendy neighborhoods of Greenwich Village and SoHo.
Brooklyn: The most populous borough, and formerly a separate city. Located south and east of Manhattan across the East River. Known for the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Prospect Park, The Brooklyn Museum, The New York Aquarium and a key NYC landmark Coney Island.
Queens: Located to the east of Manhattan, across the East River, and north, east, and south of Brooklyn. With over 170 languages spoken, Queens is the most ethnically diverse region in the United States, and one of the most diverse in the world.
Bronx: Located north of Manhattan Island, the Bronx is home to the Bronx Zoo, the New York Botanical Gardens, and the New York Yankees professional baseball team.
Staten Island: A large island in New York Harbor, south of Manhattan and just across the narrow Kill Van Kull from New Jersey. Unlike the rest of New York City, Staten Island has a suburban character. It is known as the borough of parks. It has its own baseball team, several malls, and a zoo.
