Zoo staff shows children an opossum.The Zoo's focus is on animals and plants native to the southwestern United States. Animals on exhibit include black bears, mountain lions, bald eagle, island foxes, ocelot, red-tailed hawk, great horned owls, porcupine, coyotes, turkey vultures, coati and more. The zoo also features a barnyard with domestic goats, jacob sheep, pot-bellied pigs, doves and pheasants.

Old Towne Orange Day Trip (Things to do in Orange & Irvine Regional Park) OC Travel Guide 4K
Taking a day trip to Old Town Orange. First we visit the Irvine Regional Park where we learned about animals at the Orange County Zoo, rode a paddle boat and a surrey bike with Wheel Fun Rentals, and boarded a train with Irvine Park Railroads. Then we had lunch at The Pie Hole, browsed some antique shops, checked out the historic Watson's Soda Fountain, and viewed paintings at HIlbert Museum of California Art. Fear Of Rabies Outbreak Rises As 2 Bats In Orange County, California Test Positive
A bat found inside a bike rental shop in Orange last week tested positive for rabies, officials said Saturday.
It was the second such finding in the past two weeks.
The latest discovery was made on around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the shop at Irvine Regional Park at 1 Irvine Park Road, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency.
A bat found at the east entrance of a commercial building in Anaheim on Sept. 13 also tested positive for rabies. That bat was found around 3:45 p.m. at 1188 N. Euclid St.
The rabies virus is found in an animal’s saliva and is transmitted to people by a bite from a rabid animal. Although very rare, contamination of the eyes, mouth or an open wound by the saliva of a rabid animal can also transmit rabies.
Most cases of human rabies in the United States in recent years have resulted from bat strains of rabies. Because bats have very small teeth, their bites may go unnoticed.
Once a person begins showing signs and symptoms of rabies, the disease is always nearly fatal, which is why preventive treatment to stop the rabies virus from causing illness is given to anyone who may have been exposed. Doctors say medical assistance should be obtained promptly after an exposure so any wound can be cleaned and preventive treatment can be started.
Anyone who may have had physical contact with this bat or saw someone else having contact with the bat was asked to call the agency’s Communicable Disease Control Division at 714-834-8180, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or 714-834-7792 after hours to determine the risk for rabies.
Owners of pets who may have had contact with this bat should contact their veterinarian.

Irvine, California
Irvine (/ˈɜrvaɪn/ UR-vyn) is an affluent suburban city in Orange County, California, United States. It is a planned city, mainly developed by the Irvine Company since the 1960s. Formally incorporated on December 28, 1971, the 66 square miles (170 km2) city has a population of 212,375 as of the 2010 census; the California Department of Finance estimates its 2013 population to be 223,729. It has annexed in the past an undeveloped area to the north, and has also annexed the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, most of which is planned to be converted into the Orange County Great Park. The city's mission statement is to create and maintain a community where people can live, work, and play in an environment that is safe, vibrant, and aesthetically pleasing.
Because Irvine is home to very good public schools, a large number of jobs requiring a skilled workforce, and residential housing, Irvine was chosen in 2008 by CNNMoney.com as the fourth best place to live in the United States. In 2012, it was ranked in sixth place. In September 2011, Businessweek listed Irvine as the 5th best city in the US. In June 2010, the Federal Bureau of Investigation reported that Irvine had the lowest violent crime rate among cities in the United States with populations of more than 100,000, and in August 2008 the Census Bureau ranked Irvine as having the seventh highest median income among cities in the United States with populations of more than 65,000. In 2014, Irvine was named the best-run city in the U.S. by 24/7 Wall Street. Although Mercedes-Benz USA is headquartered in Montvale, New Jersey, the company selected Irvine for the second Mercedes-Benz Classic Center (and the only one outside of Germany), which opened in June 2006.

The hike is 2.5 miles on a dirt road then the last mile is following the stream, route finding and bouldering hopping. The main waterfall falls about 75 feet and the shorter one falls about 25 feet.
