???? Hey guys! Here's the second and last part of my recent Iloilo adventure! Here we took on a 3-day trip to Carles, Iloilo to visit the beautiful islands of Gigantes. So happy we finally got to see it in person! We also got to enjoy some fresh and delicious scallops! Yum! Hope you guys enjoy this video!

--WHAT TO SEE IN ISLAS DE GIGANTES--
We did two tours. The tour over land and the island hopping tour.
► Land tour
We’ve mainly seen two places:
- The old lighthouse
- Bakwitan Cave
Both are places you can hang around for a long time! It made up for a good daytrip. NOTE if you want to get all the way through in Bakwitan Cave (it’s quite big) you need to be prepaired. Good shoes and flashlight. There are some narrow passways. Otherwise just do like me and return halfway to the same entrance you entered!
► Island hopping
We arranged this through our resort. It’s one of the highlights of Islas de Gigantes.
Main attractions are around Gigantes Sur (the southern island)
We saw:
- Little Boracay or Mini Boracay or actually Tinagong Dagat. Fine sand and clear blue water
- Antonia beach (great for lunch and snorkeling)
- Salt water lagoon Tangke (fly the drone if you dare! Or swim in the shallow water)
- Cabugao Gamay Island (take a picture and enjoy the view. The most famous spot of the whole tour)
- Sandbar! Last in our tour, and a good way to end! Make sure you walk a bit over the entire island, it’s nice!
--WHERE TO SLEEP IN ISLAS DE GIGANTES--
Most resorts are in Isla de Gigantes Norte. It’s not the fancy resorts, but basic ones with good facilities. You can get food inside as well. There are more luxury resorts popping up. I am curious what this place will look like in a few years time!

--WHERE TO EAT IN ISLAS DE GIGANTES--
We only ate at one place, in our resort. They had amazing scallops and other seafood! Or bbq pork, you name it. Not expensive and very tasty! NOTE that you have to bring your own lunch if you’re going island hopping!

Bakwitan Cave in Islas de Gigantes, Carles, Iloilo, Philippines
Bakwitan in Ilonggo dialect means a place to evacuate. This cave served as a refuge to many locals during the war. It was also of great archaeological importance. The local community attests that there were several ancient coffins with mummified remains and even burial jars before they were looted by treasure hunters. Scattered human bones, broken jars, and modern graffiti are found inside the caves.

Isla De Gigantes Islands Iloilo - Becoming Filipino
Today is the day we visit isla de gigantes, the most well known and popular islands in iloilo for filipinos to visit so we are becoming filipino.
Getting to isla de gigantes is pretty easy, from iloilo you ride a ceres bus to carles which will take around 3- 4 hours. From carles you can ride a tricycle for around 20 pesos to the pier to book your trip.
To get a private boat ranges in prices for different size boats, the cheapest 4/5 person boat is around 3500 pesos for the day.
Isla de gigantes has a huge reputation for being insanely beautiful and its true some of the islands are amazing. Its simply a must see place if you ever come to iloilo. Not so many tourists come here, i guess because its not as easy to reach. Which helps keep the beauty in the area.
Iloilo has some incredible places and island hopping trips to do, we feel like maybe it is a little overlooked by people who dont no just what beauty is here. Conception and carles have some amazing places and islands to see.
Slowly little by little we feel we are becoming Filipinos, doing things as Filipinos do. Hopefully 1 day in the future this will put us in a good situation to be able to stay here longer term and fit right into life in the Philippines.

Our 3rd day in Iloilo:
Heading to one of the reasons why we book a trip to Iloilo...the isla gigantes tour in Carles Iloilo.
Carles is located in the northern part of iloilo beside the province of Capiz already. A 3 hour ride from Iloilo city this municipality boasts of amazing islands, beaches and rich marine life.
Isla Gigantes tour is done on islands on south Gigantes which is almost an hour boat ride before you reach the first island and the next islands are just a few minutes away.
*Trip happened first week of March 2019

We stayed at Seascapes Hotel and Restaurant Resort Carles, Iloilo it's a good place for affordable cost with a very accommodating staff. Then, of course we did island adventure to visit and see the amazing beauty of Islas de Gigantes.

Discover the hidden beauty of Isla Gigantes also know as Isla De Gigantes or Gigantes Islands.
The four main attractions are Cabugao Island, the famous selfie spot for picture taking, a short basic rock climbing and swimming, Antonia Island, where you can do some snorkeling, swimming, banana boat and jetski, Tangke Salt Water Lagoon the enchanted lagoon surrounded by rock formations and best to visit during high tide since it will be filled with more water and the Bantigue Sandbar, nipa-hut setting at the sandbar where you can swim and also eat scallops and raw sea urchins :)
