In 1982, Jeff and Chris Reade family packed up their farm and family in Somerset and moved to a derelict collection of buildings known as 'Scriob Ruadh' (pronounced 'Ski-Brua') . Over the next 33 years, powered on little more than their own skill, effort and ingenuity, they have built one of the most inspiring farms and businesses we work with. We hope to convey some of the magic of their story and of the beautiful Isle of Mull in this short film.

Season 5, Episode 4 'Scotland - Chieftains Cheese and the Isle of Mull'
Scotland is not renowned for good cheese, but in the rugged rolling highland country Will Studd unearths an ancient sour cream 'chieftains' cheese called Caboc. After enjoying Strathdowne blue with oatcakes, Will finds out how the cheese also matches with single malt whisky. Then it's off to the Isle of Mull where an enterprising family supplement the feed for their cows with whisky mash during the cold winter months.

In early June we visited Isle of Mull creamery. Isle of mull is a Scottish version of Somerset-style cheddar with a fruity, sharp and very tangy flavour. Made by the Reade family, who moved from Somerset to Mull in the late 70’s, Mull Cheddar is known for its pale colour and sharp tang. The Reade's herd is made up mostly of Friesian cows, with some Jersey, Ayrshire and Swiss Reds. The 130 strong herd are milked twice a day by their son – Garth. We are very proud to have been selling this Scottish Cheddar since we opened in 93'. 26 years of good cheese and better relationships.

Bengali and Americal Folk song duet. This was recorded on New Year's day at a party hosted by Chris and Jeff of 'Isle of Mull Cheese' in Scotland. Rajeswar Bhattacharya heard Jennifer Baird sing and it reminded him of a Bengali folk song, so after 10 minutes rehearsal, they sang this duet to the delight of all the family members and friends at the party.

We're getting married on the Isle of Mull, we're both Scottish but living in England because of work (we both work in fashion and there are so few fashion jobs in Scotland!!) The ceremony is on 'the black beach' in Torloisk it's a volcanic private beach the only black beach on the island is really wow. Feels almost Icelandic.
Our reception is in Isle of Mull cheddar cheese shop... it's a glass conservatory space near Tobermory filled with vines and tropical plants. We don't like anything twee Scottish (kilt free wedding) and we're building each and every element of the wedding ourselves but it's not a homemade or vintage style.
