USA: NEW YORK: INTERNET WORLD TRADE SHOW
Natural Sound
A week-long trade show dedicated to the internet began in New York City on Wednesday featuring hundreds of displays with some of the latest advances in computer internet technology.
The show featured widely recognised companies such as Microsoft and America Online, but also included smaller organisations promoting a wide range of the latest possibilities in modern computing.
At the Jacob Javits Exhibition Centre in New York City the Internet World trade show got underway.
Hundreds of people went to see the latest in internet technology from graphics software, data-transmission and even more advances on voice-recognition computer systems.
Many punters were pleased to see systems for improving internet searching.
Most of the technologies on display have been aimed at business applications rather than consumer use.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
Here at the floor of the show you'll see a lot of technologies for the business internet. It's not a consumer show, as much as it's a show for the people who are executives in companies that have to do with the internet
SUPERCAPTION: Jack Powers, Conference Chairman for Internet World
One of the newer technologies at the show is a software system that allows the user to give voice commands to an internet browser.
The user can instruct the computer to find various sites on the net, such as a weather forecast for a particular city, in the same way that you might ask a person to go and find something.
UPSOUND - talking computer
The computer replies when it is searching, and then displays the information on the screen.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
What you're watching on the screen behind me is Ivan. Ivan is an intelligent voice-animated navigator, and he allows us to surf and search the Web by just talking to him like you would with a best friend. You can ask Ivan to find recipes, stock prices, news, whatever you want.
SUPERCAPTION: Mark Strumwasser, Vice President for Sales, One-Voice Technologies
Another rather novel exhibitor, DigiScents, provided the latest in iSmell technology.
Offering more lifelike and memorable experiences, the computer displayed scented websites, and even e-mails, available from the software application and a special box to dispense the scents.
BodyMedia has developed fashionable, wearable, health monitors that sense and record body statistics.
These monitors, combined with the BodyMedia web site, form a system that helps people to define, maintain and monitor their own personal healthy lifestyle.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
It's an arm band that has built-in sensors, that track various body statistics an on-board computer. Then that information is wirelessly transmitted to our website, where it's displayed in a usable form on the health manager to help you track every day your progress in maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
SUPERCAPTION: Craig Lidon, Chief Medical Officer, Body Media
Every imaginable ingredient for a wildly successful website is on display for the remainder of the week.
Soon you could be able to scan a photograph of yourself on to the Web and initiate a search for any other person who looks like you.
And with a click of your mouse, you might just be able to wake up and smell the coffee.

Jacob Javits Center At Night
Leaving the Jacob K Javits Center at night on Thursday, October 24th. Day One is over. We are now ready for the opening of the 4th Annual Contemporary Art Show tomorrow.
USA: NEW YORK: INTERNATIONAL SECURITY CONFERENCE AND EXPOSITION
English/Nat
This week's International Security Conference and Exposition in New York City is showcasing state of the art technology in surveillance and security equipment.
450 companies are showing their innovations to thousands of dealers, installers and security professionals.
APTV takes a look at some of the hottest new devices.
New York City's Jacob Javits convention centre has turned over more than 100-thousand square feet to this convention.
The security systems being shown run the gamut from the newest in access control and security hardware to integrated systems and home automation.
And even if some of the products have changed very little over the years, the display booths are installed with fake lasers to lure the crowds.
Roughly 10-thousand visitors are expected at three-day conference which kicked off on Tuesday.
Corporate managers charged with their firms' security have the chance to sample the new hardware.
But one of the more ingenious designs is made for the home.
This smoke device is made by a British company called SmokeCloak.
The company has already installed the technology in seven-thousand
sites in 30 countries.
The sales representative demonstrating the system shows us that any thief entering a protected area sets off a web of dense fog and vapour.
This is not tear gas - it's an alcohol based glycol solution that will reduce visibility to practically zero.
The smoke lasts for up to 45 minutes and the company says that's enough time for authorised security to arrive, or at least cause the intruder to flee.
The fake smoke will not permanently injure any intruder but it could save the valuables.
SOUNBITE: (English)
It's meant to activiate upon a break-in and secure the area and eliminate visibility, drive the intruder from the premises. If you can't see it, you can't steal it. That's the object of SmokeCloak.
SUPER CAPTION: Phillip Grimm, President, SmokeCloak
Even the most resourceful criminals should be on guard with this body cavity technology.
Objects hidden in the mouth, rectum or vagina will not go undetected with this gear.
Even this tiny pin is setting off the alarm!
Bioemetrics is the buzz word in the surveillance field.
Put simply, this kind of security targets some part of your physical
being.
This demonstration comes from Miros, a worldwide leader in face recognition products.
The product is called Trueface and it sells for three-thousand dollars per door.
In this demonstration, the demonstrator has a security card code but the system will not allow him to enter.
That's because it's computer is not matching his face with the card.
But this woman is allowed entry since her face matches the code.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
If you were to steal my card like Michael did before you would not be able to gain acess because your face is not my face, and even further more, we're going to solve your problem, because we're going to store a fave record of each transaction.
SUPER CAPTION: Joan Dickinson, Director Business Development,
Miros
Like technology generally, the mantra in surveillance is 'smaller is better'.
This tiny camera is barely the size of a person's thumb.
Easily hidden, the video resolution is still every bit as good as much bigger models.
Drawing perhaps the biggest crowd at the convention was a product for anyone who has had a car or car radio stolen.
The autotaser is the latest in car security and is billed as the automotive defence system that fights back.
The autotaser sticks to your car steering wheel.
If its motion detector senses an intruder, it sounds a screeching alarm as a warning before unleashing more aggressive action.
And the full kit sells for a couple of hundred dollars.

MORE ABOUT THIS TOUR
New York is a very vibrant and busy city and it takes a lot of people to keep the big city functioning. The world famous New York police force, justice workers, state federal operators and prison and detention officers keep our big city safe. This walk will take you among some of the departments where these establishments operate from and see how they go about their daily lives keeping New York running smoothly and safely.
In our first encounter we begin at the City Hall before ambling down to the Tweed Courthouse. It is one of the more grandiose civic monuments in New York and has been in regular operation since 1864. The courthouse was built as soon as the City Hall building had been completed. Along here and into Chambers Street we come across one of the earliest skyscrapers in America. It may only be 17 floors high but the Former Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank Building was one of the tallest buildings in the USA when it was completed just over a hundred years ago.
Onwards from here we encounter the New York Surrogate's Court, the Police Plaza and the headquarters of the New York Police. There are several different police units and separate bureaus that operate to keep New York safe and also a moving infrastructure. You will also see the Federal Metropolitan Correction Center in Lower Manhattan. Here remand prisoners and people awaiting trial are held here. It houses both men and women.
Next you will walk on to St. Andrew's Church and the US Court of International Trade. The next interesting stop will be the Jacob K. Javits Federal Building. This huge 41-storey building is home to the Homeland Security and also Immigration Control. Many immigrants wanting visas will be seen here daily waiting in line to apply for visas and working licenses. You will next encounter the sombre African Burial Ground, where more than 600 skeletons of freed and captive slaves had been buried. Their remains were only unearthed two decades ago.
The famous United States Courthouse and Supreme Court are the next landmarks we encounter before discovering the Federal Office Building and the former A. T. Stewart Marble Palace building, later to become what is now the Sun Building. Our walk through some of New York federal establishments ends with a view at the elegant Broadway Chambers.

New York Times Trade Day - THE ULTIMATE TRAVEL SHOW
The largest and longest-running trade and consumer travel show in North America kicked off with Trade Day last Friday. The 2019 New York Times Travel Show celebrated its 16th anniversary at the Jacob K. Javits Center in Manhattan from January 25th to 27th . Tens of thousands more travelers attended the showcase compare with last year. The good news for return attendees is that 35 percent of this year's exhibitors were new to the show.
Exhibitions showcasing Asian tourist and cultural attractions became the highlight. Demonstrations of Tai Ji-practicing, calligraphy-writing, Kung Fu martial art and drumming also ran through the three-day event, which have allured visitors to join and experience the essence of traditional Asian culture.
Meanwhile, thousands of brochures containing recommended traveling routes and sites in Asia were handed out to potential tourists, emphasizing everything from trendy neighborhoods to essential landmarks and unexpected locales. The Taiwan exhibition organizer also teamed up with prominent local travel agencies and several airlines to design specific tourism products catering to American tastes.
Organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, the China exhibition surrounded by lunar new year decoration has caught the eyes of thousands of visitors with distinctive Chinese cultural elements familiar to local Americans, such as leaflets of pandas, huge poster of pandas and….a Panda mascot
China National Tourist Office at New York aimed to demonstrate China's charm through both its breathtaking landscape and culture, making tourism an important booster of bilateral exchanges between China and the United States amid the looming trade war.
The Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau showcased the current Old meets New campaign, which highlights how visitors can take a deep dive into the city's fascinating duality – uncovering enchanting and deep-seated customs while also taking pleasure in a state-of-the-art way of life.
Korean representatives were on hand to further discuss the many highlights of traveling: visiting legendary temples, dining at Michelin-starred restaurants, staying at the finest hotels, taking advantage of world class transport resources, and indulging in a K-Pop experience that can't be replicated anywhere else.
The LGBTQ Travel Pavilion was at the top of many must lists. This year’s pavilion doubled the size of last year’s debut and featured 15 exhibitors specifically presenting LGBTQ-friendly brands from destinations and tour groups to travel insurance and magazines. The booths showcased some of the latest trends in LGBTQ-centric tourism. Exhibitors in the pavilion included ManAboutWorld, Out in the Vineyard, Oscar Wilde Tours, Shady Ladies Tours, R Family Vacations, Quiiky-Gay Tours in Italy, Outings & Adventures, Insider Voyagers and the Stonewall National Monument.
Reserved exclusively for travel industry professionals and members of the media on the first day, highlights include expert seminars informing attendees about the latest industry services and consumer trends. Among the trending topics of conversation were working with social media influencers and exploring digital trends. Although the official numbers are still being tabulated for 2019, the show’s attendance could likely beat numbers set in a record-breaking 2018.
A show survey from 2017 revealed that consumers in attendance said they planned to spend more than $100 million in travel within a year of attending the program. However, travel shows aren’t just for suppliers and consumers anymore. Travel advisors are forging connections and reaping the rewards the exposure has given them. Whether partnering with fellow agents or preferred suppliers to offset the cost, travel advisors have identified where they can add their own value by participating the show.

President Trump Motorcade * Trump Motorcade * Donald Trump Motorcade * Donald Trump
visit :
Donald J. Trump is the very definition of the American success story, continually setting the standards of excellence while expanding his interests in real estate, sports, and entertainment. He is the archetypal businessman – a deal maker without peer.
Mr. Trump started his business career in an office he shared with his father in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York. He worked with his father for five years, where they were busy making deals together. Mr. Trump has been quoted as saying, “My father was my mentor, and I learned a tremendous amount about every aspect of the construction industry from him.” Likewise, Fred C. Trump often stated that “some of my best deals were made by my son, Donald...everything he touches seems to turn to gold.” Mr. Trump then entered the very different world of Manhattan real estate.
In New York City and around the world, the Trump signature is synonymous with the most prestigious of addresses. Among them are the world-renowned Fifth Avenue skyscraper, Trump Tower, and the luxury residential buildings, Trump Parc, Trump Palace, Trump Plaza, 610 Park Avenue, The Trump World Tower (the tallest building on the East Side of Manhattan), and Trump Park Avenue. Mr. Trump was also responsible for the designation and construction of the Jacob Javits Convention Center on land controlled by him, known as the West 34th Street Railroad Yards, and the total exterior restoration of the Grand Central Terminal as part of his conversion of the neighboring Commodore Hotel into the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The development is considered one of the most successful restorations in the City and earned Mr. Trump an award from Manhattan’s Community Board Five for the “tasteful and creative recycling of a distinguished hotel.” Over the years, Mr. Trump has owned and sold many great buildings in New York including the Plaza Hotel (which he renovated and brought back to its original grandeur, as heralded by the New York Times Magazine), the St. Moritz Hotel (three times…and now called the Ritz Carlton on Central Park South) and until 2002, the land under the Empire State Building (which allowed the land and lease to be merged together for the first time in over 50 years). Additionally, the NikeTown store is owned by Mr. Trump, on East 57th Street and adjacent to Tiffany’s. In early 2008, Gucci opened their largest store in the world in Trump Tower.
