The royal Jai Vilas palace of scindia is located in Gwalior is one of the best royal house protected and conserved by scindia dynasty.The first half portion of is made open for public as a museum while the other is used for residential purpose by scindias.
The palace museum holds the royal art and culture , Amrs and ammunitions, vehicles, grand and luxorious household equipment used by scindia kings and queens.

The Jai Vilas Mahal (Hindi: जय विलास महल), also known as the Jai Vilas Palace), is a nineteenth century palace in Gwalior, India. It was established in 1874 by Jayajirao Scindia, the Maharaja of Gwalior and is still the residence of his descendants the former royal Maratha Scindia dynasty.
It is a fine example of European architecture, designed and built by Sir Michael Filose. A combination of architectural styles, the first storey is Tuscan, the second Italian-Doric and the third Corinthian. The area of the Jai Vilas palace is 1,240,771 square feet and it is particularly famous for its large Durbar Hall. The interior of the Durbar Hall is decorated with gilt and gold furnishings and adorned with a huge carpet and gigantic chandeliers. It is 100 feet long, 50 feet wide and 41 feet in height.
Supposedly, eight elephants were suspended from the durbar (royal court) hall ceiling to check it could cope with two 12.5m-high, 3.5-tonne chandeliers with 250 light bulbs, said to be the largest pair in the world.
Bizarre items fill the rooms: cut-glass furniture, stuffed tigers and a ladies-only swimming pool with its own boat. The cavernous dining room displays the pièce de résistance, a model railway with a silver train that carried after-dinner brandy and cigars around the table.

ग्वालियर के जय विलास महल में एक महलनुमा डाइनिंग टेबल के साथ, एक अनोखी चांदी की ट्रेन है। राजस्थान के सीएम वसुंधरा राजे के दादा, ग्वालियर के महाराजा सर माधो राव सिंधिया द्वारा कमीशन किया गया, यह उत्सुक कला लगभग 120 साल पुरानी है।
महाराजा के 'मृत' रेलवे इंजन का अपना मकबरा था
माधो राव सिंधिया ग्वालियर के 5 वें महाराजा थे और 1886 से 1926 तक शासन किया। वे एक महान गैजेट उत्साही और कार चलाने वाले पहले महाराजाओं में से एक थे। वह मशीनों और तकनीक से मोहित हो गये थे। उन्होंने ग्वालियर लाइट रेलवे की शुरुआत की, जिसने ग्वालियर राज्य के 28 स्टेशनों को जोड़ा। वास्तव में, वह यह भी जानते थे कि इंजन कैसे चलाना है और मशीनों के प्यार और ज्ञान से प्रेरित होकर, बस मज़े के लिए इंजन ड्राइवर बन गये। इतना शौकीन लोकोमोटिव था, कि जब उसका पसंदीदा लोकोमोटिव इंजन मर गया, ’तो उसने महल के बगीचे में इसके लिए एक मकबरा बनवाया।

The Jai Vilas Palace, also known as the Jai Vilas Mahal is situated in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh and is a symbol of age-old Indian culture and opulence, preserved in the modern day. The Maharaja of Gwalior, Jayaji Rao Scindia, had this magnificent edifice built to ensure a grand welcome for King Edward VII, the then Prince of Wales in 1874. Today, it serves as a residence for the descendants of the royal Maratha Scindia family.
The Jai Vilas Palace is one of the famous attractions in Gwalior and easily reachable by local transport. atleast 2-3 hours required to visit this palace properly.
Timings : April to September: 10:00 AM - 4:45 PM,
October to March: 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Entry Ticket: Rs. 200 (above 5 years old)

The palace has notable collections of antiques and also some of the old time gadgets and collections that can't be easily seen.The museum is one of the largest in Madhya Pradesh and has the world's largest chandelier and the complex is a mixture of British as well as Hindu architecture. The palace was made in 1874 as an attempt to bring the palace of Versailles to Gwalior and the Jai Vilas Palace was a successful attempt.

In this video, I will tell you about the magnificent Jai Vilas Palace.
Jay vilas Mahal is the present residence of Scindia Royal Family in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. and also a grand museum.
This palace was built in 1874 by Jayaji Rao Scindia ji, who was the Maharaja of Gwalior.
At that time, Rs 1 crore spent in building this palace.
This palace is spread over 12, 40,771 square feet.
This palace is counted in India's largest diplomats.
This palace is an amazing example of European architecture.
Sir Michael Filose had designed and built this palace.
This palace is famous for its huge durbar hall.

And a huge carpet and huge chandelier put four moons in its glory.
The Durbar Halls chandelier is three and a half tons in weight.
They were told when the strength of the roof was measured by raising ten elephants on the roof.
You can see things like cut glass furniture, a stuffed tiger and only women's swimming pools with their own boat.
The 35 rooms of this palace have been made a museum.
Another popular item of this museum is silver rails, whose tracks are on the dining table.
And it serves railways in special food festivals.
And rare artifacts from Italy, France, China and many other countries are here.
