Jaisalmer City Guide | India Travel Video in Rajasthan
Join us as we visit Jaisalmer in this city travel guide covering the best things to do and top attractions in the 'Golden City' of Rajasthan, India. Located nearby the Pakistan border and at the doorsteps of the Thar Desert 'The Great Indian Desert' this small sized jewel of a city is a welcome change for those arriving from bustling Delhi, Jodhpur or Jaipur. Jaisalmer Fort is one of the most amazing places I've ever visited in India. As a living fort you'll find a plethora of shops selling souvenirs, restaurants, hotels and Jain temples. You can get lost meandering down narrow alleys and enjoy the best views of the city along the edges of the walls or by having rooftop tea or dinner. You'll also want to budget time to visit the Thar Desert on a camel safari ride where you'll pass by gypsy villages and enjoy local cuisine and tea prepared over a fire. Come find out why Jaisalmer (जैसलमेर) is one of our favorite cities in Rajasthan, India.
Things to do in Jaisalmer Travel Guide:
1) Jaisalmer Fort (जैसलमेर फोर्ट) to shop for souvenirs and wandering around
2) Visiting a Jain Temple in the Thar Desert)
3) Thar Desert (लाइक,कमेंट व सब्सक्राइब करे) experiencing the culture, food and gypsy villages
4) Camel Safari ride in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India visiting the Sam Sand Dunes (1 day, 3 day and week long options)
5) Jain Temples inside the Jaisalmer Fort (जैन धर्म)
6) Jaisalmer Fort Palace Museum & Heritage Center
7) Gadisar Lake (गाडिसर झील) for sunset and a boat ride
8) Rooftop dining on ground level to admire Jaisalmer Fort at night
9) Waking up for sunrise to view 'The Golden City'
10) Jaisalmer Fort for sunset dinner

Jaisalmer City Guide | India Travel Video in Rajasthan Transcript:
After an 18 hour overnight train ride from Delhi, we finally reached Jaisalmer, a city of yellow sandstone that lies in the middle of the Thar Desert. This proved to be my favourite stop of our month long adventure in India; now let me take you on a tour and show you why.
With so much colour all around us, it wasn’t long before we were lured into a shop and found ourselves picking out souvenirs in the form of wall hangings, pillow cases, and a small painting or two. Our luggage gained an extra couple of pounds in this city alone.
But it wasn’t all shopping in Jaisalmer. We also made time to do a bit of sightseeing inside the fort, and one of the main attractions here are the Jain Temples.
Another thing we’d recommend doing in Jaisalmer is having dinner on a rooftop restaurant while the sun sets. There are plenty of restaurants scattered across the city and the views you get as the sun goes down are amazing. We chose one at random and it included a live music performance.
The following day was all about visiting the Thar Desert on an afternoon camel trek. It was a nice change of pace from the city, and we got to enjoy a traditional meal cooked over a campfire.
The next morning we went back to the fort because we just couldn’t stay away. I visited the Jaisalmer Fort Palace Museum & Heritage Center, while Sam and his mom picked up a few additional gifts for family back home.

Jaisalmer Hotel Room Tour in India (Rajasthan Haveli)
Join us for hotel tour in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India as we showcase our spacious haveli style room on the rooftop floor of the Tokyo Palace Hotel:
Although this is a modern hotel, and therefore not a 'real' old haveli (Indian mansion) it is definitely inspired after one with its intricate design, sandstone walls and high ceilings. If you're traveling around Rajasthan staying in a havelis is definitely an option in places like Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Jaipur or Udaipur just to name a few. Unlike most hotels around the world this place has a lot of charm and character. Whenever we get a chance to stay in a place like this we jump at it if our budget allows.

Jaisalmer Hotel Room Tour in India (Rajasthan Haveli Style) Travel Video Transcript:
Well welcome to another episode of the Indian Palace
So we don't make hotel room tours very often unless it is like a really quirky or unusual place. And when we booked this place we were like oh yeah you guys are getting a tour.
So basically come on in. Right now we are in Jaisalmer (जैसलमेर) in Rajasthan (राजस्थान), India and we booked a hotel room that is kind of like Haveli style (हवेली). And a haveli (حویلی) is havelis (हवेली) are old traditional mansions.
You need to do a 360. The walls are yellow sandstone.
It feels historic.
So these are the beds. And over here. This is awesome. This is like the old haveli (हवेली) type of couch.
So on the day bed you also have these cool pillows with like patchwork and beadwork and embroidery and this is the kind of thing that you can actually buy inside the fort in Jaisalmer (जैसलमेर).
Yeah, they have a lot of cool crafts. They have some I would have to say it is some of the best shopping in all of India. Like I've traveled to quite a few places in India in the past and Jaisalmer (जैसलमेर) is a great place.
Yeah, you can get like cushions and like wall covers and figurines.
Anyways let's continue with a room tour.
Our room this is all they had available so we got two single beds and again check out that piece of artwork on the wall.
And even the furniture is really cool. Like look at this chair. And a room like this is in the $20 something US dollar range.
And the bathroom. We have not shown you the bathroom.
Anyways come on in. So it is like a walk-in bathroom. So everything gets wet. Yep. We've got our sinks. Typical wet bathroom in Asia.
Um but yeah this hotel is called Tokyo Palace Hotel. It is outside the fort and there is quite a few things we like about it.
So the number one thing is that we're actually on the same floor as the rooftop restaurant. So it has this massive terrace. And we get amazing views of the fort. Yeah. The fort in Jaisalmer (जैसलमेर). It is just incredible.
Like there is another terrace. It is not actually used for anything. They kind of use it to just wash and dry clothes. But it is one of the best views of sunrise. So we actually see that everyday golden orb you know coming up over the horizon.
I also really like to a lot of hotels in India in general rooms tend to be quite a bit more spacious. Uh, than almost anywhere else. Like I find them even more spacious than western or European hotel rooms for example.
And you often have really high ceilings here too which is cool. It gives it kind of like that Old World charm. You know like these massive ceilings.
I find that uh a lot of the hotel rooms in India have a lot of charm and character to them.
I think it is our next destination in Jodhpur (जोधपुर) we actually booked a hotel inside an old haveli (حویلی). Right. So it should be a similar style. Yeah. If it is cool maybe we'll do an another tour. Yeah, this is like a modern take on a haveli (हवेली) style. Whereas that is actually an old haveli (حویلی) building. Yeah.
Which will be really cool. We'll definitely show that one too. Anyways, we hope you enjoyed the hotel tour.
Tata until next time. Alright and out you go. Let me show you the door. Thank you for coming. Goodbye.

Jaisalmer Documentary & Travel Guide, Rajasthan Tourism, World's Best Tourist Destination
This video shows real Jaisalmer as Tourists would experience. This is a Documentary on Jaisalmer as well as a Travel Guide. You can even call it Travel Vlog
Caption Description:
Jaisalmer is among 10 most unique destinations of the world in Tourism School Destination Ranking Chart. Border Security Force is always found active in Protecting this beautiful desert city. Easily reachable by Flight, Trains, Buses and Personal Cars. Best way to explore Jaisalmer is by your own personal vehicle as public transportation is poor. Main attractions are Golden Fort, Sam sand dunes, lake, Bada Bagh, Jain Temples, Havelis etc.
More than visiting these places, only being in the city itself is enough, the city has entirely different feeling which is not possible to be experienced anywhere else in the world. If one likes walking stay as close as possible from the fort and just walk around and you would love this place, or else take a car and drive around whenever you like to live this place.
There is no big market or vibrant down town, most lively place is Fort or around the for or else Sand Dunes which are approximately 40 KM away from the main city.
Reaching Sand Dunes is very easy by road as road is excellent and this is the part where you would find endless camps as tourists like to spend a night near the dunes only which is not a bad option, or else just reach Dunes Area around 2 PM, do Jeep Safari, Dune Bashing, enjoy Camel Safari, Camel Ride, beautiful experience of watching sun set from the top of sand dunes.
Keep in mind during high season camps becomes more expensive than hotels in city and people providing service tries to overcharge for every service or product,
so for that we suggest to do not visit in high season which is Christmas and New Year Period or any long weekend of the winters.
One can have the best experience only if it is visited when it is not crowded, so try to keep your days in between week instead of weekend
The fort of Jaisalmer, visit to city is incomplete without experiencing the living fort, this is the fort in which you would find many people having their personal homes and they still live their happily.
Along with that vibrant market can be experienced inside the fort, restaurants, even hidden bars are also available. Along with experiencing the Golden Fort which changes colour we get to experience beautiful sky line from the top point of fort.
To reach the top point tourist needs to buy an entry ticket which makes them experience museum also. Around half of the fort is visitable without any entry ticket
Bada Bagh and the magnificent view of windmills is another must have experienced of Jaisalmer. In Asia finding similar kind of experience is not possible, this is another place where tourists like to spend their evening while enjoying history and examples of modern India through huge and countless windmills
If you want to keep your stay peaceful then nor book very expensive hotel neither the cheapest one, just look for right location, more of open space with the hotel, choose those hotels which are made on elevated area.
We are not suggesting expensive hotels because they takes away the real feel of being in Jaisalmer and provides only touristic experience and not traditional for which one should be visiting Jaisalmer
Rajasthani food is a bit difference than rest of the North India. If you want to enjoy the food usually eaten by locals then do try street food, which is not expensive, if you are looking for authentic international cuisines then for that there is only one place Hotel Marriott

Jaisalmer, India
Travel report from Jaisalmer in India! We are visiting Jaisalmer fort, bying turbans, riding camels and trying a local restaurant. Day #6-10 of our trip.
JAISALMER - GOLDEN CITY - RAJASTHAN - POETRY ON JAISALMER
It's a short poem about my city, Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. located in far west part of INDIA. Where Royal culture still runs in blood.
About bada bagh jaisalmer
Bada Bagh, also called Barabagh (literally Big Garden) is a garden complex about 6 km north of Jaisalmer on way to Ramgarh, and halfway between Jaisalmer and Lodhruva in the state of Rajasthan in India. It contains a set of royal cenotaphs, or chhatris of Maharajas of Jaisalmer state, starting with Jai Singh II
