The Jakarta History Museum (Indonesian: Museum Sejarah Jakarta), also known as Fatahillah Museum or Batavia Museum, is located in the Old Town (known as Kota Tua) of Jakarta, Indonesia. The building was built in 1710 as the Stadhuis (city hall) of Batavia. Jakarta History Museum opened in 1974 and displays objects from the prehistory period of the city region, the founding of Jayakarta in 1527, and the Dutch colonization period from the 16th century until Indonesia’s Independence in 1945. The museum is located in south side of Fatahillah Square (former Batavia city square) near Wayang Museum and Fine Art and Ceramic Museum. The building is believed to be modeled after Dam Palace.
Museum Fatahillah memiliki nama resmi Museum Sejarah Jakarta adalah sebuah museum yang terletak di Jalan Taman Fatahillah No. 1, Jakarta Barat dengan luas lebih dari 1.300 meter persegi. Bangunan ini dahulu merupakan balai kota Batavia (bahasa Belanda: Stadhuis van Batavia) yang dibangun pada tahun 1707-1712 atas perintah Gubernur-Jendral Joan van Hoorn. Bangunan ini menyerupai Istana Dam di Amsterdam, terdiri atas bangunan utama dengan dua sayap di bagian timur dan barat serta bangunan sanding yang digunakan sebagai kantor, ruang pengadilan, dan ruang-ruang bawah tanah yang dipakai sebagai penjara. Pada tanggal 30 Maret 1974, bangunan ini kemudian diresmikan sebagai Museum Fatahillah.

Jakarta Kota Tua Museum History ( Jakarta old town ) was housed on the original town hall of 17th century Batavia. The capital of dutch east indies and center of the Asian spice trade.
Jakarta tua Kota, Old town of Jakarta officially know as ( kota tua ).
Neighborhood comprising the original downtown area of Jakarta Indonesia.
Its is also know as ( Oud Batavia ).[ Dutch old Batavia ].
Benedenstad ( dutch lower city, contrasting it with weltevreden de Bovenstad.
{ upper city } or kota lama Indonesia ( Old town ).
The site contains Dutch stylevstructures mostly dated from 17th century.
When thevport city served as the asian headquarter of ( VOC ) during the heyday of spice trade.
It spans 1.3 square kilomters within North Jakarta & West Jakarta.
{ Kelurahan Pinangsia Taman sari & kelurahan Roa Malaka, Tambora}.
The largely chinese downtown area of Glodok is a part of Kota tua. ( Jakarta kota tua or Old town ).

The first walled settement of the Dutch in Jakarta area.
It was an inner walled city with its own Castle.
The area gained importance during the 17th - 19th century.
When it was established as tge de facto capital of the Dutch East indies.
The inner walled city contrasted with thecsurrounding kampung Village & rice fields.
Dubbed ( The Jewel of Asia ) in the 16th century by European sailors.
The was a center of commerce due to its strategic location within the spice trade industry in the archipelago.

#JakartaOldTown also known as Old Batavia, or locally referred to as #KotaTuaJakarta , was the downtown area of the capital long ago. The Old Town depicts the occupation of the Dutch East India Company.
A walk through town will immerse you in streetscapes lined with buildings boasting architectural features of a bygone era and in some corners around town you’ll find what is considered among the best samples of Dutch colonial architecture in the region.
Consistent with the nostalgic aura of the old town, most of the museums in Jakarta are found within Kota Tua.
These include the Jakarta History Museum, otherwise known as the #Fatahillah Museum, after the admiral and national hero who gave Jakarta its primordial name, ‘Jayakarta’, literally ‘town of victory’.
Other museums include the Indonesian Maritime Museum, two bank museums namely Bank Mandiri and Bank Indonesia, the Wayang or Puppet Museum, and the Museum of Sculpture and Ceramic Arts Museum.
Most of these museums are former colonial buildings and restored by retaining much of their original #architectural features.
The ceramic #arts #museum for example, was a Dutch courthouse, and Fatahillah was once the town hall of Batavia. The national archive building, or Gedung Arsip Nasional, which can also be found here, was the former residence of Dutch East Indies governor general Reynier de Klerck.

The Maritime Museum (Indonesian: Museum Bahari) is located in the old Sunda Kelapa harbor area in Penjaringan Administrative Village, Penjaringan Subdistrict, Jakarta, Indonesia. The museum was inaugurated inside the former Dutch East India Company warehouses. The museum focuses on the maritime history of Indonesia and the importance of the sea to the economy of present-day Indonesia.
The museum displays models of fishing boats and other maritime objects from different parts of Indonesia. The museum also exhibits the celebrated Pinisi schooners of the Bugis people of South Sulawesi, which at present make up one of the last sea-going sailing fleets in the world.[1] In January 2018, much of the museum was destroyed by a fire.

In 1937, Oud Batavia Foundation proposed a plan to establish a museum about Batavia's history. The foundation then bought a warehouse of a company, Geo Wehry & Co, that was located at Jl. Pintu Besar Utara no. 27 (now it's the building used as Wayang Museum). The warehouse was then renovated as Oud Batavia Museum. In 1939 the museum was open for public. After the independence of Indonesia the name of the museum was changed to Old Djakarta Museum, under the responsibility of Indonesian Culture Institution. In 1968 the Old Jakarta Museum was handed over to DKI Jakarta's government. On 30th March, 1974 the museum name officially changed to Jakarta History Museum by the government in-charged, Ali Sadikin.

Sangat murah, itu kesan pertama ketika Nyonya Swan masuk dan menikmati museum sejarah ini. Hanya dengan 5000 rupiah saja, kita bisa menikmati museum sejarah kota Jakarta, dengan ditemani oleh guide yang bisa menjelaskan dengan lebih detail mengenai latar belakang dan seluk beluk museum tersebut.
Setelah itu, Nyonya Swan langsung mencari nasi uduk legendaris yang misterius, di dekat kawasan Museum Sejarah Jakarta. Nasi Uduk bu Amah yang sudah puluhan tahun melayani masyarakat Jakarta. Dan saat ini sudah digantikan oleh anaknya, karena bu Amah sudah almarhumah.

Museum Bank Indonesia
Bank Indonesia Museum (Indonesian Museum Bank Indonesia) is a bank museum located in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was founded by Bank Indonesia and opened on 21 July 2009. The museum is housed in a heritage building in Jakarta Old Town which had been the first headquarters of the Netherlands Indies gulden (De Javasche bank), the central bank of Dutch East Indies. The bank was nationalized as Bank Indonesia in 1953, after Indonesia gained its independence. The museum is closed on Mondays (including public holidays) and has entrance fee rp 5,000 . It is located next to Bank Mandiri Museum.
