This time we spent the day on a Kayaking Tour via the John Gray Sea Canoe Kayaking Tour. We went on the Hong by Starlight day trip. Had a great time exploring the different caves and lagoons only accessible at certain times of the day. We also participated in a mock Loy Krathong ceremony.

Bucket list check!! Ko Khao Phing Kan the infamous islet from a 007 movie attracts people from all over the world so I am happy to have seen it although it is rather small compared to the surrounding cliffs.

Ao Phang-nga National Park is incredible. It's just over the bridge to Phuket Island. James Bond Island was fun (Man with the Golden Gun) - the mountains are amazing, the floating village is a self contained village. Super fun to go around. The drone video is pretty amazing.
• We moved to a paddle canoe and went around the mangroves and caves (0:30)

Canoe tour via 'Sea Cave Canoe - My Phuket Holiday' through Phang Nga Bay in Thailand:
3 stops - Ko Pa Nak island, Hong Island, and James Bond island (not in video).
I highly recommend! Our guide was great, and did all the paddling :). Much cheaper than other tours that only went to one place.
Even though it wasn't the greatest weather (overcast, summer, rainy), the video still doesn't capture the beauty of these places...

Der James Bond Insel hat uns schon immer fasziniert und wir wollten den berühmten Felsen einmal mit eigenen Augen sehen. Die Insel liegt im Nationalpark Ao Phang Nga zwischen Phuket und Krabi und man kann an beiden Orten Tagestouren buchen. Wir entschließen uns für Krabi und machen von Bangkok aus einen Kurztrip zum Ferienort Ao Nang.

Unser James Bond Island Ausflug zum James Bond Felsen, bekannt aus James Bond - Der Mann mit dem Goldenen Colt, mit Roger Moore. Die Felsnadel Khao Ta-Pu, heute auch als James Bond Felsen bekannt, thront in der Bucht von Phang Nga direkt vor Khao Phing Kan, der James Bond Insel.
Wir hatten uns für eine James Bond Island Tagestour im Longtailboat entschieden, inkl. Kanufahrt und Tempelbesichtigung. Das ganze als Early Bird Tour, denn so kann man die Insel und den Felsen ohne große Besuchermassen erleben.
Die James Bond Island Tour war mit 2600 Baht pro Person zwar um einiges teurer als normale Touren, die ca. 1500-1700 Baht kosten, aber dafür in der Regel auch erst 1-2 Stunden später los gehen.
Somit hatten wir wirklich das Glück, fast ganz allein auf der Insel zu sein. Sogar die Verkaufsstände waren noch komplett geschlossen.
Einziger Nachteil: wir waren so früh auf James Bond Island, dass die Insel und der Felsen noch im Schatten lagen, was für Fotos nicht so toll war.
Dafür standen wir aber nicht in einer Schlange für Fotos und mussten uns auch nicht durch mehr als 100 andere Touristen drängeln, wie es sonst oft die Regel ist.
Die Tour hatten wir online auf gebucht und direkt vor Ort in Khao Lak bezahlt.
Die Dame im Büro gab uns noch weitere Infos zu Khao Lak und der Umgebung und war sehr nett.
Bis auf den Preis war die Tour echt toll und somit hatten wir uns für den richtigen Anbieter entschieden, denn die Reviews zur James Bond Island Tour auf Tripadvisor waren bei Khao Lak Guru durchweg gut gewesen.

We were staying in Phuket recently and looking for some adventure when we stumbled on this amazing place. We had heard of the James Bond Island — it's hard not to, they advertise it all over Phuket — but we didn't want to go with a big tour group. So, we rented a car, quickly learned how to drive on the left side of the road, and set off at six o'clock in the morning to the amazing Ao Phang Nga National Park, home to the archipelago that hosts the James Bond island and hundreds of others.
We didn't know what to expect after the hour long drive, but we brought along our cameras, a mavic pro and good attitudes and we hoped to make the most of it. We went straight for the national park visitor center after a quick shoot by a beautiful inland rock formation. Across the way there was a line of longtail boats waiting to be hired. We booked out one of the boats and a driver for an entire day — which cost only about $60.00, U.S. — and grabbed some local beers for the ride.
We never actually made it to the big tourist sites, because they were overcrowded and, honestly, we didn't have much interest. The entire area is scattered with similar rock formations, so, we anchored up to one without any other boats nearby and cut off our own little slice of paradise for a few hours.
One of the major highlights while cruising back to the Ao Phang Nga National Park visitor center was stopping by Koh Panyi, a small, stilted muslim community residing in the middle of the bay on a secluded island. Most tour boats stop here early in the day, so we really had the place to ourselves — among the 1,685 friendly residents that live there full-time. It was the perfect end to a day that had little expectations. When we go back, we won't be doing it any differently.

Khao Phing Kan (Thai : เขาพิงกัน, pronounced [ kʰǎw pʰīŋ kān]) or Ko Khao Phing Kan (เกาะเขาพิงกัน [kɔ̀ʔ kʰǎw pʰīŋ kān]) is an island in Thailand, in Phang Nga Baynortheast of Phuket. The islands are limestone karst towers and are a part of Ao Phang Nga National Park.

About 40 metres (130 ft) from the shores of Khao Phing Kan lies a 20-metre (66 ft) tall islet called Ko Ta Pu (เกาะตาปู, [kɔ̀ʔ tāː pūː]) or Ko Tapu (เกาะตะปู, [kɔ̀ʔ tā.pūː]). Since 1974, when they were featured in the James Bondmovie The Man with the Golden Gun, Khao Phing Kan and Ko Ta Pu have been popularly called James Bond Island.

Phang Nga Bay & James Bond Island Speedboat Day Trip - Vlog Day 3 - 4K
My day trip (2018-12-30) on a boat tour to Ao Phang Nga Bay National Park, especially famous for its limestone rock formations.
What we did during the boat tour:
- Sight of limestone rock formations on the way.
- Canoe in Hong island.
- Visit of James Bond island.
- Lunch and visit of Koh Panyi (Muslim village on stilts).
- Visit of a cave full of bats.
- Swim and take a rest on a beach on the way back.
I paid 3800 baht for two adults, for that price you get :
- Minivan pickup from our hotel to Ao Po Pier (departure and return).
- Full day speedboat tour visiting main attractions of Phang Nga Bay.
- Free soft drinks on board.
- Lunch in Muslim village.

James Bond Island - Phang Nga Bay Most Hyped Up Island, James Bond Island
Thinking back on it, for me, the James Bond Island in Phang Nga Bay Thailand, was a big disappointment. It is just a big rock in the sea and I have to admit that I also jumped on the hype of wanting to have seen the real James Bond Island.
For me, it was a much better experience to be on the boat on the open sea and enjoy the nature of the area. I enjoyed the sea, the wind, the wildlife, the setting, and the complete experience, except for the James Bond Island, which I really did not see any point at all traveling all the way to see since it was the main purpose of the trip to Phang Nga Bay.
Luckily the Phang Nga province has a lot more to offer tourists than only the James Bond Island and I recommend that you do visit the other places also when you are there.
