The Jack Ranch Cafe is close to the the intersection of California Highways 41 and 46 where cult actor James Dean met his demise in a traffic accident at on September 30, 1955 at 5:59pm.
The California Department of Transportation has now designated the intersection of California Highways 41 and 46 as the James Dean Memorial Junction.
Inside the Jack Ranch Cafe you will be able to tour the exhibit of photos and artifacts of the late Hollywood actor. A couple rooms are dedicated to James Dean and there are many items you can purchase as souvenirs of this great actor who died at the age of 24 on this stretch of highway in this video. Highway 46 and 41. A couple of his big movies were : rebel without a cause and giant.

Driving to Cholame 9/30/2010
On 9/30/1955, at approximately 5:45 p.m., actor James Dean died in a car crash at the intersection of highways 41 & 46 near the town of Cholame.
Although I've been to Cholame many times, including the 50th anniversary of James Dean's death in 2005, this is a visual record of my last drive to Cholame on 9/30/2010.

The death of Hollywood actor James Dean occurred on September 30, 1955, near Cholame, California. Dean had previously competed in several auto racing events, and was traveling to a sports car racing competition when his car crashed at the junction of California State Route 46 (former 466) and California State Route 41. He was 24 years old.

An old 1985 broadcast from KSBY TV6, San Luis Obispo, CA, of a Custon Car/Hot Rod rally at the James Dean Memorial in CA. Also featured is a short clip from a Cal Poly Tractor Pull. Maestro Gaxiola is seen painting the KSBY studio as a backdrop for the tempture readings. ( if you pause the video where the 49 Merc is about to pull into the Memorial parking lot you can see the Maestro standing at his easel painting the car rally near the light colored car with the trunk open)

Five Killed in Central California Crash
Authorities in central California broke the morning with grime news.
An accident along a highway has led to five deaths; five others have been transported to hospitals.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the injured were airlifted from the scene of a fatal charter bus accident.
Though few details of the incident are know, the aftermath is obvious, as the bus has been nearly split in half following a collision with an exit sign pole along State Route 99.
CHP added the charter bus had about 30 passengers.
